Toshiba Corp offers a series of Flash games on their Japanese website, and Tobby Sling Shot is one of them. While that may not be a very accurate translation of the name, it does describe well the primary gameplay mechanics. Use the mouse to click and drag the platform Tobby stands on like a sling shot to catapult him into the air. Aim him to catch gems and to reach higher platforms. Make your way up to the top of the level to save your girlfriend, Jelly Tobby from the clutches of Bull Tobby. A charming platform game with unique gameplay mechanics. Click.
The art style and game physics lead me to believe it's another creation by Yoshio Ishii. This game would also translate well to the Nintendo DS touch screen interface.
Update: It seems that Toshiba has taken the Tobby games offline. =(
Is it just me that noticed that these are Toshiba games are almost exactly the same as the ones on the ito-neko site? Tobby Crisis even has pretty much the same level designs. Are they made by the same guy, or did I miss something?
Nope, you didn't miss a thing. Yoshio Ishii is definitely behind these Toshiba games, the very same person responsible for Ito-neko and all the other 'neko' (cat) games at ece4co.vis.ne.jp.
I must say Toshiba has shown very good taste for picking such a talent :)
Now, if only all other corporate giants would spend a little and place equally good games on their sites too.
this game is pretty cool. At first I didn't know how to play but I figured it out.:)
Yeah, it's not that hard after you get past the japanese :D But I loved it, creative, easy, and fun
Ok. The game is good... The dogs are funny. Bye
too easy game
too short
too easy boss
not enough bosses
english version
you heard my comments and i think they should improove the stuff above and bring it out again who agrees with me
Is it just me or did this game seem remarkably like the NES game Donky Kong.
This game wasn't ment to be a hard-core RPG... for what it was ment to be, it's a heck of a lotta fun. ^_^ Just add a bit of patience and it is a nice, easy, relaxing game. Truthfully, I'm rather fond of the entire series, and agreed, Toshiba did pick a good developer.
Just so you know, the Internet Web Archive has this game in the archives:
