Welcome to the woooooorld of tomorrow!!!! That'd be really profound if you read it yesterday. Why isn't it profound to read things about yesterday today? I, for one, am pretty darned impressed people can remember events of days past. Things like the release of Dissipate or Jesse Venbrux's older games. Not that those were small events, mind you, just that they happened at a moment in time that is not this very moment in time...
Diminish (Windows, 1.4MB, free) - A sequel to Dissipate, the platformer that challenges you with a riddle before each level, Diminish continues the challenging tradition with more levels and more wickedly obtuse puzzles. When you begin each level, a "proverb" appears at the top of the screen giving you a clue on how to complete the level. Sometimes leaping into a pit of spikes is the trick, while other times you'll have to locate hidden doors, move in a certain way, or just stand still and see what happens. An excellent follow-up to a creative, original game!
They Need to be Fed (Windows, 8.2MB, free) - A slick-looking platform game created by Jesse Venbrux, author of the Karoshi series, entered into the YoYoGames "Design a HandHeld game" competition. The goal is to reach the monster at the other end and feed yourself to it. As if becoming a snack weren't motivation enough, you also have to navigate movable platforms brimming with spikes/other traps and deal with physics and gravity, too. 35 levels of increasing difficulty to enjoy!
Neonite (Windows, 6.3MB, free) - A nice take on the matching puzzle genre and an enjoyable game all-around, Neonite begins with a tough lesson for the player: you've been conditioned. Instead of dropping like-colors onto each other to make them disappear, Neonite asks you to drop opposites to destroy rows of bricks. See those blue blocks there? Fling the red block at them and watch then vanish. Power-ups make things all the more interesting, and the game quickly moves from a slow cerebral experience to a hectic game of quick thinking.

Diminish is safe, I downloaded, scanned, and played it myself. Your virus program must be returning a false positive, JIGuest.
Yeah. Thanks for featuring Diminish. I'll keep you guys at JIG Notified of my next game in case you want to check that out as well. Anyway, I am not a virus giver-outer, and it's all clean. Thanks bjohn for making the tutorial, i'll be sure to put that in the official tutorial I made. anyway, thanks. If anyone needs any more tips on the game, feel free to ask!
Hey Ed, I played diminish, unique and meta! That said, on windows 7 it doesn't want to shut down via normal methods at all. Is there any tool I can use to help you figure out the problem?
Tried to download "They Need to be Fed " but this site require LOGIN! How can we try this game?
chrisD, having the same problem in Vista.
They Need to be Fed doesn't require a login. Just underneath the paragraph below the PSP image is a link that looks like this: Download link (.zip, 8.22 MB). Click it. :-)
In diminish you need to hit esc to get to the menu and then again to exit. Make sure you have Num Lock on. Not sure why its necessary, but it didn't work until I turned it on.
Hey nice reviews. I really enjoyed They Need to be Fed.

Diminish and Dissipate are ok, but I prefer the insanity and humor of the Karoshi series.
"They need to be fed" is great. The difficulty curve is great, if a little steep, and the minimalistic-yet-polished feel is terrific. The only thing I had issues with are the diamonds, which I think are redundant and detract from the experience. I missed 3 to unlock the final "?" level, and then realized that:
They are cumulative, so you can simply replay the tutorial as many times as you need diamonds.
Also, the ending was a little cheesy, and I expected something more tongue-in-cheek, but I guess that's nitpicking. :)
Are there ads being run on the Diminish QuickPlay site?
