Oh, Flo. After so many games, so many jobs and so much dashing, I almost wish they'd come out with a game where you get to just take a break. Vacation Sloth or Diner Stroll or Flo: Just Hangin' Out. At least in your newest game you won't be doing much time-management style dashing, which isn't to say you won't be busy...
Avenue Flo: Special Delivery, which is the sequel to Avenue Flo, is a point-and-click adventure game starring Flo, the never resting entrepreneur from the expansive Diner Dash series. When a gang of puppies ruins the baby shower being planned by Flo's friend Quinn, it's up to Flo to fix everything and make sure every goes off without a hitch. It better be perfect, because it seems all of Diner Town is getting ready for this shower. Oh, there's one more problem... the expecting mother, Vicky, is missing. You had better find her too.
You'll be using your mouse to save the day. Click on characters to talk to them or click on an item to pick it up. Click an item when it's in your inventory and then click on a person or object to give the item to that person or use it on that object. Walk around town by moving your mouse to the edge of the screen heading toward the direction you want to go to and clicking when your pointer becomes an arrow.
Now, you won't be able to get everything on your to-do list done by just finding items and handing them over. You're going to have to get your hands dirty. Along with all the pointing and clicking you'll also have to find some hidden objects. There's 99 balloons strewn about Diner Town that you'll need to grab, and some citizens have misplaced their belongings so you'll find yourself hunting down things like kiwis and socks. You'll also be playing some mini-games where you'll sort books, arrange cakes and dig through your messy, messy purse.
Analysis: What really surprised and impressed me about Avenue Flo: Special Delivery is all the variety in the game. While at its core it's a point and click game, there's also a lot of hidden object hunting and logic puzzles. You'll also find word games, matching games, memory games and much more. You won't be doing one thing for very long in Special Delivery, and while the mini-games usually come when you aren't expecting them, the way the game flows into them feels very natural. Some of the mini-games have some minor annoyances. One where you're trying to clear a board by making groups of different tiles could really use an undo button and another where you're throwing toys to dogs could use some better hit detection. That said, the games are well done and those minor annoyances are pretty minor.
The overall difficulty of the game is handled very well too. The hidden object portions of the game aren't very hard, but the logic puzzles and the point-and-click puzzle can range from obvious to brain teasing. This creates an experience that's relaxing and fun, but still requires you to think. The mini-games feature a skip button that becomes available after a little bit of time in case anything gets too frustrating. That shouldn't happen too often, because even when they're challenging the puzzles and games are very fun.
The production values in Avenue Flo: Special Delivery are great all around. The art style and animation are full of bright colors and are crisp and clean. The voice acting and theme song are very well done. The music isn't the greatest, but it's also not annoying or distracting. It provides a nice bed for most of the things you do. The only area the game could do better with is in the humor department. The jokes often fell flat for me. Luckily, humor is subjective, so you might get more out of than I did... and there were a few lines that made me crack a smile.
Avenue Flo: Special Delivery is such a strong and diverse game that it can easily be fun for everyone. So, even if you're a guy or gal who doesn't have much interest in baking or gussying up babies, but you do like well made, good looking point and click adventures with lots of mini-games you might want to check out Avenue Flo: Special Delivery

Untangling Jo/ Getting the Cookie Cutters
You'll have to find a replacement string before you'll be allowed to cut Jo loose.
Take a walk around town. Do you seen anything that might make a nice substitute?
Someone near the art gallery might be able to help you.
The guy in the tooth costume near the gallery is giving out samples of floss, but he's all out. He mentions that someone with glasses took the last one.
You might've already run into this particular person.
It's Wilson. Go to the daycare and click the floss sitting on the edge of the sink.
Screenshot
Once you have the replacement string, go back and give it to Jo.
Now you'll have to root through your purse to find nail scissors.
They're on the left side in the middle.
Screenshot
Once you have the scissors, give them to Jo.
Now that she is free, talk to Jo to ask about the cookie cutters.
She'll give them to you, but you'll have to take care of the dogs in the dog park first.
This mini-game isn't too hard. Just remember what the dogs like. Also, keep in mind that you don't have the shoot the toy directly to the dog, you can shoot it in front of it and the dog will pick it up. Another thing: you have a limited amount of toys so take a little care.
Below is a list of what the dogs like in case you forget.
Bulldogs: steaks.
Poodles: Dolls.
Beagles: Frisbees.
Dachshunds: sticks.
Retrievers: Bones.
Westies: balls.
Once you're done Jo will give you the cookie cutters. Take them back to Stella at the bakery.

She has a problem though, a problem that's affecting her business.
It's the snow cone vendor in the park.
You need to get the squirrel away from the cart.
You'll have to bribe the squirrel if you want him to leave.
There's some stuff scattered around the park that will work.
Collect the acorns in both parts of the park. There are ten total.
Here are images with the acorn locations marked.
Screenshot
Screenshot
Once you have the acorns, give them to the squirrel. He'll go away and you'll get the food coloring. Take the food coloring back to Stella.
Coloring the Cookies.
This mini-game is very straightforward; just follow the patterns you're given. You'll be able to make three mistakes with each batch. If you're having trouble, just remember that there's leeway with the hit detection. You can hit a button a little bit before a cookie gets under the nozzle and it'll got on perfectly.

Go into the optometrist's.
Bernie mentions he's lost his glasses. We'll have to find them. Better grab all of them to be sure. There's 6 total.
Here's an image with the locations marked.
Screenshot
Once you find all of them, hand them over to Bernie.
We still need to get Starla out of here. She just needs a disguise. Look around the room, see anything that will help?
There's a pair of sunglasses on the shelf to the right. Too bad they're broken.
Screenshot
Luckily, Bernie can fix them, give them to him.
Now, give the glasses to Starla. She still needs something to cover up here hair though.
Look around town for something that might work.
Maybe you can find something on the other side of the traffic jam.
Go to the hotel and look around.
There's a blue hat just to the right of Flo. Grab it. Take it back to Starla.
Screenshot
You'll get the keys for your efforts and Starla will be gone.
Give the toy keys to the alligator.
Give the real keys to Ernie and get on the bus.
Finding the Stroller
Go inside and click the elevator in the center of the store.
The store is a little maze-like. Just keep going right until you can't go right anymore. Then go down.
Once you found the strollers, you'll have to pick the right one.
Remember Seymour's description? One big wheel in back, two little wheels in front and all blue.
It's on the bottom shelf, third from the left.
Screenshot
You'll get a claim ticket. Take it back down to Seymour.
Finding the Registry Items.
1st Floor.
Naturally Seymour needs some help, so help him find everything on his list.
Here's an image with the location of everything marked.

You'll also need to do something special to get one of the items.
Laptop: Grab the ladder leaning against the right wall, use it on the laptop to reach it.
Once you've found everything on the 1st floor you'll have to go up to the 13th floor again to find some more stuff.

Screenshot
After you find it, you'll have to rearrange the boxes. Here's what I did.
Screenshot
Chair
The chair can be found by going right from the elevator and then down. It's the one with stuff all over it.
Screenshot
You'll have to find a way to convince the woman to buy the display model. If only it wasn't so dirty. Maybe you could find something around here that can help.
Go one screen to the left, then one screen to the right and you'll find a desk with a cleaning product on it. Take it.
Screenshot
Go back to the screen with the chairs and use the cleaner on the dirty chair.
Once you've convinced her, you'll have to rearrange the boxes. Here's what I did.
Screenshot

The cry analyzer can be found by going right from the elevator, then down, then down again.
It's the one with cracks on it.
Screenshot
It's broken, so we'll need to find someone to exchange it.
Go right one screen, then up on the next. Try to give the analyzer to the employee. He might be able to help you, but he's afraid of getting lost. We'll have to find someone to help him.
Go left one screen, then right on the next. Here you'll find an info desk with some maps.
Screenshot
Grab them and take them back to Tyler. Next, give him the analyzer. Then, go back to where you found the analyzer.

Go one screen down from the elevator and then one screen to the left.
Screenshot
Now to rearrange the boxes. Here's what I did.
Screenshot
Wash Tub
The wash tub can be found by going right from the elevator, then down, then down again, then going to the right twice. Or, if you know where the info desk is, it's one right to the right from there. It's two screens to the right from where you found the cleaner. It's the third from the left on the very bottom.
Screenshot
Now to rearrange the boxes. Here's what I did.
Screenshot
Diaper Genius
The diaper genius is on the screen to the right from where you found the wash tub; two screens to the right from the info desk; three screens to the right from the desk with the cleaner. From the elevator it's one screen to the right, then down, then down again, then go to the right three times.
Screenshot
Now to rearrange the boxes. Here's what I did.
Screenshot
Diapers
Diapers can be found two screens to the right of the elevator.
It seems like the diapers we need aren't there. Maybe they're being hidden by those boxes. We'll have to find some way to move them.
Go down, then to the left, then right two screens. You'll find a red pallet jack. Take it and go back to the boxes. Use the jack on the boxes.
Looks like we'll need a waiver to get those boxes moved. You've already passed the pile of waivers.
Go down, then to the left, then right one screen. There'll be a desk with the waiver on them.
Screenshot
Take a waiver and go back to the aisle with the diapers.
Use the waiver on the camera, then use the jack on the pallet. You'll get the diapers.
Take the registry items back down to the 1st floor and give them to Seymour.
Getting Quinn's Outfit
Go to your apartment.
Once again you'll have to dig through your purse to find your keys.
The keys will be near the upper right corner.
Screenshot
Getting the Shoes
The shoes should be pretty easy to spot.
They're on the couch, kind of.
The dog has them.
Screenshot
We'll need to get something to get the shoes away from the dog.
There's something in the apartment, but not in this room.
Try the bedroom. It's through the door to the left. Take a look around.
There's a shoebox under the bed. Click it, take the bone.
Screenshot
Go back out to the living room and give the dog a bone.
Once you have the shoes away from the dog, you'll need to dry all the slobber off.
Again, what you need can be found in the apartment. And it can be found in the bedroom.
It's the hair dryer on the dresser on the left side of the room.
Screenshot
(Note: the screenshot doesn't show the hair dryer, because I accidentally picked it up. That is the approximate location of the dryer though)
Take the hair dryer back out to the living room and use them on the shoes.
Getting the Jacket
Go into Quinn's bedroom and try to get into her closet. No luck, we need to find the password.
Something in the apartment must be able to help us.
It's in the bedroom. Look in the top drawer of the dresser on the right.
Screenshot
Click the book. It'll give you the password. Now click the keypad next to the closet.

We can't go all the way back the Laundromat on Avenue Flo, so we'll have to find some other way to get the skirt from the cleaners.
If only the cleaners were in the area.
They are and you might have seem them already.
They're in the middle of the traffic jam, between the optometrist's and the hotel.
Give the ticket to the brothers. They mention that they accidentally gave the skirt to the Tourists. Go back one screen and talk to them.
They can't open their car, but if you click it you'll learn that the window is open a crack.
We'll need something long and skinny to get in there.
You've already been to the area that has the item we need. In fact, it was the first area you were at in Bistro Bay.
Go back to the area in front of the Subway.
Grab the grabber leaning against a lamp post to the right.
Screenshot
Once you have the grabber, use it on the car.
Once you have EVERYTHING, go to the hotel.
Rescuing Vicky
You'll have to stack gifts to the top of the screen in order to reach Vicky. Remember to make sure the boxes are standing the right way. If they're not, you can have them in the right order but still not reach the top.
1st Stack.

This one you can kind of cheat at. My screenshot below won't show a completed stack because the top two pieces fell off before I could take the shot. I put the blue box on top of the plus sign shaped box and balanced the remaining yellow box on top of it long enough for it to register as a stack.
