For those who just can't get enough free game play, 1Up.com has a new article up today from print publication Computer Gaming World listing over 100* free games in its "definitive guide to the best new free games on the Web." You could do a lot worse, I suppose, knowing the quality that usually comes from the folks over at 1Up.
*101 to be exact.
In fact, you are likely to see some games that have already been reviewed here, and just as likely to see upcoming reviews here highlighting games from that list. And if you're looking for something to review and submit as part of my call for new contributors, why don't you head on over there and comb through the pickings while the getting is good. Click.
Cheers to fellow Jayisgames contributor, Wulfo, for the link. =)
Some great stuff here .. It's nice to see tiny projects like Jumper and Seiklus on there, although for a list of "free" games there's way too many mods for commercial products.
Also, if anyone here hasn't played Cave Story yet, do yourself a favor. [x_x]
Thanks alot Jay, there goes the next week of my life, and I have an Academic Decathalon competition on Saturday...
*screwed* -_-;;
anyone else getting an error while trying to load the page? I tried going to 1up.com and I couldn't load any of their pages. It was a weird pop-up error... Well, I am using IE, so that's prolly half the problem...
Hi Aioua, I just tried and got through, no problems (using Firefox).
Out of the few games I downloaded, I highly suggest Blossom (in fact I think it should be reviewed) and Super Cosplay War Ultra just because I'm a minor anime geek and the game is amusing beyond belief.
There's a few things on there that aren't actually free (Dofus for example requires a subscription fee to get into anything other than the "tutorial" area), and there's way too many mods to commercial games rather than full free games like Wolfenstein:Enemy Territory.
That said, though, there's lots of good stuff on there. Sea of Chaos is a fun little game. Thanks for linking to it!
I highly recommend the Deadly Rooms of Death, listed under puzzle games. You play as a "dungeon exterminator" who has been hired to hunt down every last monster in King Dugan's Dungeons with your oversized sword. It's got some very fiendish puzzles.
