Bejeweled 3 netbook giveaway

JohnBWOW. That's exactly how everyone here at JIG felt about the response to our Bejeweled 3 netbook giveaway! So many people sent in so many gems, it was great to see everyone having fun solving riddles!

After checking all of the entries, we sat down for that fateful moment when the magic of randomness chose who got to walk away with a Bejeweled-themed netbook. Once the numbers settled, only one name was left:

  • Samata K. of Foster City, CA

Congratulations, Samata! We'll be in touch soon with all the fun details about your prize!

While we had our random number mojo going, we also chose three gem matchers to receive free copies of Bejeweled 3:

  • Aaron H. of Redmond, WA
  • James W. of Lemoore, CA
  • Jon R. of St. Paul, MN

Enjoy your free game! We'll be in touch with you three as well!

Everyone did such an amazing job in this contest, finding all of those gems and sending in complete rosters of perfect matches. A huge thank you to everyone who took part in the scavenger hunt! You can bet we'll be doing giveaways again in the future, so don't be surprised to see more riddles. Only this time, they won't be so easy to solve!

And, as promised, below you'll find a list of all the hints and games used for the contest, in chronological order.

Congratulations Samata!

Wow, some of these seem obvious in hindsight, and others I never would have guessed in a million years.

Slouching Towards Bedlam is one of my favorite games, I can't believe I missed that one!

Awesome! Congratulations Samata, and the game winners! I was super pleased to see how well the community did with these clues. You were like dogs with a bone!... uh... or some other... flattering comparison.

The faucet clue drove me nuts. There's another thing called "Flow" in the archives, albeit more of an interactive art piece than a game, and all I thought of was it.

Gah! All so easy when you have the answers!
Bravo Samata et al!

Wow... I somehow missed all of this. Congrats on the win! Doesn't come across as a straightforward comp :)

I'm one of the winners of the game, and I just wanted everyone to know how fortunate I feel, not just for winning, but for being a part of this great community.

I don't often post, but I do read the comments on every game I play, and I think it really says something when the comments tend to be as entertaining as the games themselves. Additionally, the level of constructive criticism and insight are unmatched by any other gaming community. And let's not forget the incredibly well-written reviews slightly further up the page!

I was able to figure out most of the clues for myself, but when I needed a nudge in the right direction the "bonus hints" in the comment section were incredibly helpful. Jay, I know you had some reservations about people helping each other when prizes were on the line, but I think it speaks to the quality of the community that you and the entire JiG crew have fostered that commenters were willing to post hints even when in direct competition with each other.

Well, to make a long story short (too late!), I just wanted to say thanks. Thanks to PopCap and JiG for this contest. Thanks to the JiG community for being so supremely awesome. And thanks to Jay is Games for being the best gaming site in all of the internets!

I never saw a problem with people trading hints, myself. In the end, it was still a game of chance: solving more riddles improved the odds of winning, but all anyone needed was a single lucky entry.

I may not have won the netbook, or even a copy of Bejeweled 3, but I still enjoyed playing. I look forward to the next contest of this type. :3

Now that it's done I can mention that there are only 200 jiffies in 4 seconds.

Congrats to the winners.

Wow, I almost never win things, so this came as a giant surprise to me! I even missed a few days' worth of gems in the middle (though I was actually more sad for missing the riddles).

I've been following JiG's awesome game recommendations since I was in high school, so I thought it would be fun to try and figure out the clues and revisit the games I had loved (Small Worlds, anyone?).

I got through most of the puzzles by myself, but needed help on a couple of those tricky ones late on in the contest. I'm a quiet person, so I don't post often (yes, I know it makes no sound), but I'm glad the JIG community is made up of such good-willed people.

I'm parroting Fidco now, but it's okay, because it's all true. So thank you JiG and the community here for making this such a fun hunt :)

I'm a dummy, can someone explain "Flyde"
"Ten below the contest entry"?

I had a blast with this contest. I did not win any prizes but that was not the best part for me to begin with, I loved the riddles and working with others to solve them, It really was a fun adventure. Thanks again JIG and Popcap for hosting it.

@DeeBelle: It was the game that was 10 posts before the post in which the contest was announced.
