Very cool but the ball speed is too damn fast to be playable.
Thanks for the feedback, Jake. I made a couple of small adjustments to the game based on your reaction. Each new ball is launched more slowly, then picks up once you hit it with the paddle the first time.
My reasoning with the faster ball is I'm afraid that slower gameplay would result in a player becoming bored more quickly with this rather simplistic game.
do you think you could send me the fla file for this. I'd really like to figure out how you did this. Thanks!
Wow! I can't believe you made 2 flash games! I like Tetris too!
This game, and Tetris, were both made in Director, not Flash. They are therefore Shockwave games.
Wow! Jay's first "Click." link!
Ahh, the first sign of this blog turning into what it's become today. Congrats, Jay.
Also, blog more. It's fun to read :P
Jay very simple but cool! I'm new to director and have to make a very similar game to this for school any ideas where to start?
mike - I just dove right in and started coding with this one. It was really a great way to get acquainted with the concepts in Director. It wasn't even an assignment, I just did it as an exercise in learning.
My best advise is to start small.
Get a ball to bounce around the stage first.
Then try adding a paddle and work your way up from there.
Get each element working the way you want it before adding more.
I hope that helps. :)
