It's weird. It's cute. It's weird. It's fun. It's really, really weird. It's amitie and halcy's free adventure game Cat Game, which, as it says on the tin, is about cats. Yours, specifically. Your distraught mother informs you that your beloved Toby has run away, and now you have to scour the town and the surrounding area to find him. Everyone is wrapped up in their own problems, so even if someone has seen your cat, you'll need to do a whole lot of favours to get answers. It's getting dark and it's going to rain soon, but hey, it's not like things are going to get craaaaaaazy or anything, right? Should be a piece of cake. To play, just use the [arrow] keys to move, [spacebar] to interact and choose options, and [ESC] to open the menu to save your game.
You'll want to examine almost everything and talk to everyone since initially Cat Game doesn't offer a whole lot of direction. Once you get on the trail, however, the game turns out to be surprisingly adept at nudging you in the proper direction to make progress, hinting where to go or who to talk to next when you run into a problem. Which is a good thing, since Cat Game is nowhere near as straightforward as it initially seems. While the setup might look like something trying to lure you in for a creepy pasta style jump scare, Cat Game is just about the silliest, cutest make-you-smile game around, with charm and imagination to burn. You'll learn secrets about cats you never dreamed (but perhaps always suspected), meet celebrities, deliver mail, and much more. You'll even get to solve a math problem!... which, uh, isn't that much fun, actually, but still. It does feel like the game ends a little abruptly for the direction the story was setting itself up to go, but however brief, if you want something bright and cheerful, Cat Game's unique style and sense of humour should be right up your alley.

Tells me (in his development notes) that a previous version was infected with a virus.
Then asks me to trust his .BAT batch file to download the game.
NO.
No.
no.
I think NOT.
Current version is absolutely fine. The developer was just being honest about what happened before. Case in point JIG had its own problems a while back, did it put you off? No, he was honest at all times about what was happening. Now this Dev is being honest too, give her a break.
The game itself was pure cute with added cuteness! It was not too long but I think I smiled all the way through. So give yourself a treat google guy
I would not have posted this had it been infected, and trust me... as someone who runs anti-virus, spyware, and malware programs on everything I download for my job (this!) the file is clean. :)
The game is completely safe, and adorable. I loved the part where you go to the
cat brothel
and it turns out
all you do is pet the cats and feel refreshed
I loved the little variations in character design, and the night background was a nice touch. The clues were very logical, so it was hard to get stuck for long! Also, really appreciated the references to
NLP, and Homestuck. Dear god can I move to the cat library.
So... I try to play, and all I can do is stand in the corner and look at my bookshelf full of books about cats.
