Cleopatra's Escape

The title of Pine Studio's escape game Cleopatra's Escape, also free for iOS and Android, would seem to imply that you play as Cleopatra, but when you're only represented as an ambiguous white fist in your inventory, who knows? Regardless of who you may be, you're trapped in this tomb, and if the bones by the door are any indication, you probably want to try to find a way out sooner or later. The cursor will change when it passes over something you can click on to interact with, and text at the top of the screen will give you an idea of what that action is. Remember that you can combine some items you're carrying by clicking on them in succession, and the fist actually represents using force on things, so try it out if you're stuck. Which, chances are, you may wind up being, since Cleopatra's Escape doesn't always give you the hints or nudges it could to subtly steer the player in the right direction. Still, it's easy on the eyes and at times fairly clever, but if you don't want your bones to wind up inside it as well, you'll need to be more clever still!

As far as I can recall, the fist (force) is used exactly once:

to open the lighter.

It's annoying that you can't really zoom in on things to see what the heck the images are supposed to be. For example,

in the "code sequence" on the wall, the rightmost two images are

a snake and a stick.

I got it by trial and error, but I still have no idea what was going on with the

flute. Did I summon a stick by charming it? Um, okay, but did I then charm the snake to help me reach the stick? Or something? It was all very weird.

Abf, I think what was going on there was...

...that the snake magically transformed into a stick and back.

Ah, okay. That makes at least a little more sense. (Here I go looking for logic in my escape games again...)

Most of the puzzles made no sense to me.

How do two birds, facing in different directions, plus some sort of mysterious symbol that I can't decipher, equate to "weigh the basket in the cellar"?

And even more puzzlingly,

how on earth is the scroll supposed to tell where to put the items on the table?

Reply

Reka, it took me a couple of tries because I'm cardinally deficient. Reading the scroll from left to right:

From this object take # of steps in this direction to arrive at this object.

Taken in that manner it makes sense.

Reply

Reka, the thing between

the two birds is a fairly standard rendition of a pair of scales or a balance or whatever you want to call it. If you couldn't see it, perhaps your screen calibration is off somehow?

I really like this game, a little short in my opinion and the puzzles are nice
