For those who enjoyed the previously reviewed Ambivalence, there's a brand new game, Confined, just released today from the same author, FonGeBooN. This appears to be a fairly standard point-and-click room escape game until you dig a little deeper. From what I can tell so far, pixel hunting is minimal (though present), instead the focus is on puzzle solving, which is always a plus when it comes to games like this. And although the author is Japanese, there doesn't appear to be any language barrier in this game, which is another plus.

This will probably go down in history as the first time I'm ahead of everyone else.
I have two of the (supposedly) three torn pieces of paper, and yes, I put the two together. I also have the tape, cup, key, paper clip (bent into a lock pick or sharp point of whatever), screwdriver, and...that's it.
But I am stuck. No way am I quitting, though, not with the promise of a free game.
To solve the slider puzzle :
you need to move the tiles so the balls follow a straight path when they bounce
take a look at which edges of each square to see where the balls are bouncing and where they are passing through the edges. The will give you a clue as to where each square should go
..and you will also need this
the last tile for the puzzle needs to be taken from the front of the tub/sink
This was kind of a fun game -- although the couple of 'pixel hunt' elements really annoy me...like clicking on a big black surface.
Also, I am pretty good at most strategy games, however the slider games (for some reason) always give me trouble. That was enough (after 10 minutes of trying) to make me give up.
Stuck at the moment, currently have:
Tape
complete maze puzzle (use red pencil and it will color the path)
extended screwdriver
cup (add hot water and a "P" appears)
wrench
bent paper clip
flashlight
picture (hold it in the hot water to reveal a clue)
red pencil (from room two, use the extended screwdriver to push the wall where the hole with the gold key is, this will push the pencil to the front of the safe)
tap valve (remove it with the wrench, you can switch it between cold and hot water this way, the thing above the sink is a water heater)
There appears to not be a unique solution to the math puzzle:
The 2 and 3 are interchangeable
And I can't figure out what
The diagram in the book means.
It appears (based on it's size) to refer to the math puzzle, but I can't do anything with just three numbers.
I also can't do anything with the clock, no matter how many times I click. Oh well.
Benabik, I found a couple of loose ends in the puzzle as well.
The diagram never made any sense to me, but still I was able to solve the puzzle.
I also don't understand what use is the red pencil. You can use it to color the maze, but only AFTER you've been in the 2nd room so you've already solved the maze yourself... and it doesn't make sense.
Shuffledog:
How is that wrong? I got the same answer, and I see that several other people have. If there's another answer that works, then the game makers really suck for not allowing this one and for not making that clearer.
I mean, we know from the game that P=8 and A=4. N must equal 5, and L must equal 9, because that's the only way it works out. And 735 + 8425 does equal 9160.
I found one other answer for the cupboard equation.
8415 + 637 = 9052. Of course, it's the other equation that is the 'right' answer.
Still trying to get out??
Hmm. When you enter 9160 on the keypad, you get the big red X on the door.
So the door is closed, right? What do you need to do to that door to get out?
Ah...thanks generic geek girl, never occured to me that
not a bad game, but some flaws -
the pencil - totally redundant, the only thing you can use it for (getting the door code), you have to do before you get it
the diagram in the book...did anyone work out what that was for?
the last tile for the slider puzzle...only found it because of someone pointing it out on here, and even then i had to click loads of black tiles before i found the right one
For some reason I always play these room escape games, even though I end up hating them. This one in particular had too many obscure solutions to be fun. I'd like to one day see a room escape game where all the puzzles actually make sense.
Also I never want to play a sliding-block puzzle ever again.
Don't wan't to double post but managed to get out thanks to the hints
I can't get to the part where you use the clip on the clock as minmay said I should be able to, so I don't have the second word per se.
For the actual code to get out, make sure you aren't missing any clues, especially obvious ones (like the actuall word to get out with)
Did it. I liked the game a lot- cheated a little on the slider puzzle with this free software thingy as it was taking me years, but other than that (and a few hints here!) I found it nicely logical. Good distraction. Only trouble is I was meant to be working, damn it!
Walkthrough! - Part 1
Getting Started
First of all, let's look around the room.
Go left once, pick up the MUG (check the mug's bottom to see an EIGHT) and click the blue book.
Click at the right to flip the pages.
Notice the notes, and keep fliping the pages.
You'll find a HANDLE (the old "hole in the book" trick!).
Now close the book and look at the papers over the desk.
Spread them over. Anything of interest?
Pick up the PIECE OF PAPER and the PAPERCLIP. Go back and turn left.
Notice the painting (it will be important later!) and turn left.
Click the right pillow until something shiny falls down. Check behind the sofa to get a KEY.
While the right pillow is lifted, click at the bottom-corner of the left pillow. Remember, stars are fun!
Now go back and click at the cabinet.
See all those numbers? For now, you just have to spread them over to find another PIECE OF PAPER. Go back.
Open the drawer and get the TAPE.
Go back and turn left.
Opening the door
Check that white panel. There's no handle!
Use your HANDLE to open the panel.
Pick up the SCREWDRIVER, and notice the pencil (you can't reach it by yourself...).
Before you go back, look at the panel.
Oh, one more PIECE OF PAPER!Pick it up.
OK, you can go back now.
Check the PIECES OF PAPER at your inventory.
Glue them together with the TAPE. Solve the maze to get the code.
It's 5941.
Now put the code at the number pad. Now just leave the room!
Oh, wait, that's not good...
jakob1978: I was assuming the diagram in the book was to tell you that
FUN goes on top and PAIN goes on bottom, myself. Not that it really matters since you get the same sum either way.
And the pencil's not totally redundant: you can
use the filled-in maze with the book to find out that F=7. Although the puzzlemaker apparently didn't realize that bit of information's unnecessary to solve it, since you can find that out just from P, A, and N.

9160
Walkthrough:
You begin the game facing the door, a door code entry panel, and a white panel on the wall. There is a couch to your right, with a small table and drawer with a lamp on it.
Click the drawer, and take out the roll of tape.
Turn Right, open the cupboard on the wall. Move the number magnets to reveal a small scrap of paper. Take the paper.
While we're here, let's look for something else. Click on the back cushions of the couch - you'll see they move up and down. Do this a few times, and you will suddenly notice something shiny drop down from the right cushion. Click on the bottom of the couch where the wall is exposed (with the cushion up), and you will get a silver key.
Turn Right again, and notice the picture on the wall. Love = (Star) + (Tear)? Hmmm...Maybe that's a clue...
Turn Right again, standing in front of the desk.
Click on the small stack of papers at the top of the desk to reveal another scrap of paper.
Click on the small red paperclip at the top of one of the pieces of paper.
Now, using your items panel on the right, click on the Paperclip, and click the "About" button.
It shows you the paperclip in detail. Click near the top of it (or around it in a few places), and it will open up into a handy tool for opening stuck DVD ROM drives...or something else...
Click on the cup on the desk. Take it into inventory. Now, click on the cup in inventory, and click About. Click near the bottom of the cup, and you will see a number 8. I wonder what that's for?
Close off the cup. Now, Click on the blue book. It opens for you. Click on the first page, and voila! It turns. Hmmm...P does not equal 0. Maybe you should write that down...
Click on the page again, the page turns, and there is a box diagram. Hmm...looks like a bunch of tiles. Starting at the top left, over one, and down two. We should remember that.
Click on the page again, and it will reveal a hollow in the book. Click on the item in the hollow - it looks like a handle!
Exit back to the main screen, then turn Right again.
Click on the white panel on the wall (the big one). You'll notice two holes. Hmmm...what would fit in here? Aaaah, I get it! The Handle! Click on the handle from your inventory, and click on the door. You can now open the door.
Open the door, and get the Screwdriver.
Click on the Screwdriver in your inventory, and click "about."
Click on the handle...Hmmm, it moves the screwdriver around. Wonder what the button at the back of the screwdriver does? Push it and find out...
Close the new "expanded" screwdriver, and click to the right of the open safe (with the pencil in it) - meaning the back door of the safe. Here you find the last scrap of paper!
Click on the Paper in your inventory, and click About. Then, click on the Tape in your inventory, and click on the Paper.
Follow the maze from the bottom to the top, noting the numbers you come across.
For you lazy folks, the code is 5941.
Enter that code into the panel beside the door, and voila, the door opens!
Second Room:
Gee, it sure is dark in here...Would be nice if I had a flashlight...
You are facing a shelving unit. Click to the right of the skull on the bottom shelf to get the flashlight.
Click on the Flashlight in inventory, click About, and click the switch for the flashlight to turn it on. This should make things easier!
OK, now we should open the brown box on the shelf. Click on the Silver key from inventory, and click on the brown box.
Take the spanner (wrench) from the box.
Now, click on the picture frame on the top shelf of the unit. You will get a picture from the previous room. We'll come back to this.
Move to the Right. Looks like we're in some sort of kitchen area. There are all kinds of tiles on the wall...
Following the instructions from the book in the previous room, start in the top left corner of the tiles. Move two tiles over, and two tiles down. Should be a black tile. Click it, and you'll take it into inventory.
OK, now take the wrench you have, and use it on the tap over the sink (you'll notice only one handle exists). This will remove the handle and put it in your inventory.
Above you is a white object on the wall. Also, there's an outlet here. Isn't that odd?
Click near the bottom of the white object, and you will see the bottom of it. There is a panel on the left side. Use the screwdriver to open the panel, and a cord drops down.
Back up, and plug the cord into the wall.
Now, take the handle from your inventory, and place it on the left hand stub coming from the wall. Turn the tap, and voila! Hot Water!
You should fill your cup with the hot water, and then look at your cup.
Now you see the letter P. With the number 8 on the bottom of the cup, that would seem to indicate P=8.
Hmm...Wonder what would happen if I ran that picture under the hot water?
Running the picture under the hot water reveals that "A=(the clock)" - but what time is it on the clock? Right, 4pm. So A=4.
Take your wrench, remove the handle from the tap, and place it back on the cold water nub. Turn the water on, and place the picture under the cold running water.
You will now see an arrow pointing to the underside of the clock. Must mean something...
OK, staying where you are, look over to the right wall, where you will see a panel that is a slightly different shade of gray. Click it a few times to open it...and you will see a golden glimmer appear.
Click near the golden glimmer to reveal a golden key. Take the key.
Now, turn to the right, and you will see a dark panel to the right of the door (which locked behind you). Click on the panel.
Put the gold key into the lock, and you will start to see balls moving around.
Place the black tile you picked up in the panel above the key. Now all that remains is for you to solve the sliding puzzle...
For this, you truly are on your own. All I can suggest is, notice where the balls are hitting the edges of the tiles - this should tell you where each tile belongs. Move them around until you get them in place, then slide the tile you placed in the slot above the key into the main puzzle, and you will open the door!
OK, now we're getting close to the end. Let's solve the puzzle that was on the "Love" picture on the wall.
Go over to the clock, and click near the bottom of it. You will see a small hole to the left.
Click on the paper clip, then click on the hole. It will release a door, and something will fall out.
Back up, and look at the wall. You will see that the Teardrop equals PAIN
Go back over to the couch. Lift up the right cushion, then with it in the air, click to the right of the left cushion. You'll see that "STAR equals FUN"
Now we can go solve our equation. Opening the brown cupboard on the wall, you will notice number magnets, and you will see small boxes. Clicking on a box cycles through the alphabet.
Put the word FUN at the top, PAIN in the middle, and LOVE at the bottom.
Now, to figure out the numbers. See if you can do it based on the clues you have already, or click the next spoiler to reveal it.
FUN = 735; PAIN = 8425; LOVE = 9160
So, it should be as easy as entering 9160 at the Door Control, right? Try it!
Ooops. That didn't work. Let's see...what is it we want to do. We want the door to...OPEN.
Enter the code for OPEN - 1805
You win the game!

it didn't work? maybe open will try 1805
I hope nobody minds if I post my walkthrough as well since the only one posted so far is only for the first part of the game :)
It's my first walkthrough so hopefully I didn't make any mistakes.
Getting the first items - the sofa
Go right. Click on the blue drawer and get the tape.
Click on the sofa's right cushion, while it is up click on the right side of the left cushion. It's a bit of a tricky spot. If you get it right you'll see a zoomed-in view of a star and the word FUN.
Click on the right cushion some more times until you see something sparkly fall from the cushion. Click on the cushion again and you'll get a silver key.
Click on the brown cabinet. Shuffle through the cards until you find a second scrap of paper.
Getting the first items - the desk
Go right. Note the picture on the wall.
Go right. Take the cup from the table. If you examine it you'll see it has a 8 on the bottom.
Click on the sheets of paper on the table. Click them to shuffle between them. Get the scrap of paper and the red paperclip.
Examine the paperclip and click on the topmost edge to straighten it.
Click on the blue book next to the plant. Shuffle through the pages until you get to the last one. Pick up the handle.
Getting the first items - the safe
Go right and zoom on the large white panel.
Use the handle on the panel (where you see two black dots) to open it.
Click on the screwdriver and pick it up.
Examine the screwdriver, click on its handle and then the darker circle. The screwdriver will become longer.
With the longer screwdirver you can touch the pencil and move it around, but you can't pick it up yet. Ignore it for now.
Click on the right side of the screen (the safe's door) and get the third scrap of paper.
Opening the door
Examine the scraps of paper. They're a maze of sorts, but you need to get them pieced together.
Use the tape on them.
This maze has the code to the door.
You need to find a way from S (start) to G (goal).
Note the numbers as you pass them.
The code is: 5941.
Enter the code on the small number pad next to the door and press OK. The door will open.
The second room - the shelves
Click on the door to enter the second room. The door will close behind you.
Click on the skull on the shelf in front of you (or around the skull) to pick up a flashlight.
Examine the flashlight and switch it on using the button.
Click on the picture frame on the top shelf and get the photo.
Use the silver key on the wooden box on the middle shelf.
Click on the box and pick up the wrench inside.
The second room - the sink
Go right. Click on the black tiles until one gets loose and you can pick it up.
Click on the left wheel-like thing to turn on the water.
Use the photo with the stream of water and a blue arrow will appear.
Turn off the water. Use the wrench on the wheel to get it.
Use the wheel on the right tap. Click on it again to turn on the water.
Use the photo on the water again and a clue will appear.
Fill the cup with water. Tip the water on the sink, then turn the cup. Note the clue.
The second room - the sliding puzzle
Click on the panel on the right wall. Push it until you see something sparkle.
Click on the sparkle to get a golden key.
Go right. Click on the panel next to the door.
Use the golden key on the slot and turn it to activate the evil sliding puzzle of DOOM.
Your goal is to rearrange the picture so that the balls flow from one tile to another and bounce off the edges.
The strategy that worked best for me is to figure out which one the bottom-left corner is and move it into place. Then (in this order) figure out the other bottom pieces, the left pieces, and the remaining ones.
Once you solve the puzzle, the door opens and you can go back to the first room.
Getting the last clues
Click under the clock (where the blue arrow pointed to).
Use the bent paperclip on the small hole and a piece of paper will come out. Note the drop and the word PAIN (it's a bit hard to miss anyway).
Go to the second room and click on the panel where you found the golden key. It should push back the wall.
Go to the first room and open the safe. The wall has been pushed forward and you can now get the red pencil.
Use the pencil on the paper to color the right road.
Open the blue book next to the desk and go to the very last page.
Use the colored-in maze with the book, go back one page and a clue should appear.
Solving the final puzzle
Open the cabinet next to the sofa and look inside. There are three rows and four columns that you can fill with alphabet letters, along with 11 cards with numbers from 0 to 9.
You need to enter three words, but one word has to be three letters long.
You've already seen the words in this room.
They are: FUN, PAIN and LOVE.
LOVE goes at the bottom, but FUN and PAIN can be switched around.
Every letter corresponds to a number. The hints gathered so far are:
A = 4 (from the clock's picture)
F = 7 (from the colored-in maze)
P = 8 (from the cup)
Also, notice that
there are two 5's, so N = 5 (because it's the only repeated letter).
Those clues (and a bit of math) should be enough to solve the equation.
There are two possible solutions: 725 + 8435 = 9160 or 735 + 8425 = 9160.
If you try to enter 9160 on the number pad, however, you get a big red X.
What other 4-digits number could you enter?
It's written on the number pad.
The letters have to spell OPEN.
The corresponding number is 1805.
You win!
Full Walkthrough:
Starting out, you'll probably notice two things; The panel missing a handle, and a keycode beside a door.
Now, on the right side, of this screen, you'll see a blue drawer. Click on it to open it, and you'll find some tape inside.
Turn left, and you'll see a desk and a clock on the wall. There's a cup on the desk to take. You'll also see some papers you can examine closer.
You can move the papers around by clicking on them. The middle piece of paper has a scrap of a maze attached with a paperclip. You can take both of these.
Now, look at the blue book on a shelf on the desk. You'll see some "hints" as you click each page inside. Keep going until you find a handle inside the book. It should be noted that, near as I can tell, the clues in the book really aren't that helpful and should be disregarded.
Turn left again, and you'll see a big picture. It displays some kind of code; LOVE = (star) + (drop)
Turn left again to face the couch, and a cabinet on the wall. Open the cabinet to see a bunch of numbered tiles, and some smaller squares that, when clicked, cycle through the alphabet. Feel free to move the numbers around and spread them out, so you know what you're dealing with.
If you do, you'll find another piece of the maze. You can attach then two pieces by using the tape on the close-up of them.
Going back to the couch, you might notice you can click on the cushions to life them. Clicking on the right one repeatedly (4 or 5 times) will eventually drop a shiny object, which you can pick up off the couch. It appears to be some kind of key.
With the right couch cushion still lifted, click NEAR the right side of the left cushion (not the cushion itself), and you'll see a clue - (star)=FUN
Turn left one more time, and now we're at the starting screen. But this time, you have a handle and a panel in need of one.
Use the handle on the panel and open it up. Inside, you'll see a screwdriver, and a red pencil that you can't see to reach. If only you hand a longer arm!
Maybe something in your inventory can help?
That screwdriver could be useful, if only it were longer.
Examine the screwdriver and click on its handle to change the view. Click on the circle on the bottom, and it will extend. Now, it can REACH the pencil, but you still can't GET the pencil. Darn.
While you're here though, you might want to click on the inside of the panel door we just opened. You'll find the last piece of the maze here. Tape them all together, and have fun!
Getting from start to finish is easy enough. Did you notice your path crossed 4 numbers? Where could a 4-digit number come in handy?
This is a code for the door. Enter it (5941) to open the door. You've escape!
Wait, this isn't right. Now you're trapped in ANOTHER room, and this one is pitch black. Too bad you have no way to see.
Guess you'll just have to feel around in a dark.
Click enough times in the dark (about 5), and you'll find a flashlight. Examine it and click the switch to turn it on. You do NOT need the flashlight active in your inventory for it to work.
Now, let's look at the junk on these shelves. Can't do anything with the bottom shelf. Or the middle shelf.
Click the picture frame to receive a picture. That room looks familiar, doesn't it?
On the second shelf, you'll see a locked box. If only you had a key-like object to open it with!
After using the silver key on the lockbox, you'll find a wrench inside. Take it, and now let's look elsewhere in the room.
Turn left, and you'll see the closed door, and a panel on the right. Nothing we can do yet, so turn left again.
Looks like a sink. On the right, you'll see a panel on the wall. Click it a few times to open it, and find a gold key inside.
Now, think about where we are, in relation to the other room. This wall with the panel shares a wall with the other panel, with an unobtainable red pencil.
Click the open panel to look isde of it, then use your extended screwdriver to push the back wall further back.
Now, back to this sink. You'll see two faucets, but only one handle. Turn it to run the cold water... But why?
That picture you're carrying around has been sitting in a dusty old room. Maybe you should try washing it off under the tap?
Note an arrow points to the clock.
I wonder if the hot water will do anything. Too bad we don't have an extra handle to try it.
So use the wrench on the cold water handle (after turning the water off), to take it. Then place it on the other faucet and turn it on. Hmm, it's cold too. Turn it back off for now.
We need to get the hot water running, but how? You'll see an electrical socket (No, you can't, and shouldn't want to, put the paperclip in it). Look up, and you'll see a box. Click the underside and you'll see a panel. Looks kind of like another keyhole, doesn't it?
Your key doesn't work though. Maybe you have another object that could reach up there and open it?
Use the screwdriver to open the panel and let a wire drop out. Going back, you'll see it's actually a plug, and you can plug it into the socket.
Now try the water again. Mmm, steamy. Let's give the photo another rinse, shall we?
A=Clock? Not exactly. What time is the clock showing?
A=4. While we're at it, take a closer look at that cup you've been carrying. The underside has an 8 on it.
Well, I think we could all use a warm drink right now in this cold, dark room.
Use the cup on the hot water. Now a P is on the side, and an 8 on the bottom. Safe to assume that P = 8, don't you think?
Now let's take a look at those tiles. There's a sort of pattern to them, no? See anything out of place?
From the top left, count 3 tiles down and 3 tiles right and click it. You'll get a tile.
Let's mix things up and turn RIGHT this time, back to the door. Click the panel. Hmm, looks like it could use a key.
Use the gold key to turn on the sliding puzzle. If you're like me, you HATE sliding puzzles, and this one is even more annoying. Watch the bouncing balls. You'll see them sometimes bounce off the side of a tile instead of passing through. This is your hint on which tiles are part of which edges of the puzzle. Unfortunately, the layout is randomized, so I can't give a solution. You just have to keep fiddling around with it until it appears the picture is right (the balls move fluidly from one tile to the next)
Now, the puzzle's complete, but nothing happened. Maybe you need to fill in that last tile. But where would you find an extra black tile?
Put the black tile in the far left spot, then click it again to place it in the puzzle and complete it. Now the lights are on, and the door is open again.
Leave the room and you'll be facing the "love" picture. Turn right. Now, what was that picture pointing at?
Click near the bottom of the click, and you'll see a hole. Hmm, what could you use to get in there?
Examine the paperclip in your inventory, and click near the top curve to straighten it out. Now use it on the hole, and something drops out of the clock. Pull back to discover it's another hint: (drop) = PAIN
Turn right, and open the panel again to find the red pencil much closer and easy to grab. Now you can use it to... draw... things?
Maybe you'd like to try that maze out again.
Use the pencil on the maze to fill out the proper path. But we already solved this puzzle! You couldn't get the pencil until after you did! What could it mean?
Turn left, back to the desk. Open up the blue book, and flip through the pages until you get to the hole you found the handle in. Flip the pages one more time.
Place the maze into the book, and flip back 1 page. F=7
So now we know that P=8, F=7, and A=4. Believe it or not, we have everything we need to finish this game now.
Turn left two time and open the cabinet with the numbered tiles. This is just a reference item to help you sold the rest of the game. We know that LOVE = FUN + PAIN, and this puzzle is laid out like a math equation.
Fill out the squares with letters so it looks like this:
-FUN
PAIN
LOVE
(FUN+PAIN=LOVE)
Now, we know that F=7, so take the 7 tile, and place it next to the F. Do the same for the P and A.
We only know 3 numbers, but it's enough to start doing some math. 7+84=91. Therefore, L=9 and O=1, right? Place the tiles next to their letters.
Each letter corresponds to a number. Now, we have two Ns in this equation, and two 5s. So, logically, N=5, right? And 5+5=10, which means that E=0
You have a 1 to carry over from the previous math problem Remember this. Now you have a 2, a 3, and a 6. 2+3=5, add the 1, and it's 6. It doesn't matter which letter is 2 and which is 3, just that V=6. The equation is 735(or 725)+8425(or 8235)=9160
Another 4-digit code. I wonder where that can go...
Pull back from the cabinet and turn left, and click the keypad. Enter your new code, and...
Wait, this isn't right at all! Now we have the door blocked with a red X! I want the door to open!
You can put in the old code from the maze to get back to that room, but what good does that do? We need an exit out of this place. We need the exit door to OPEN!
Wait, "open" is 4 letters...
And we have numbers that correspond to the four letters...
OPEN=1805
Try putting that into the keypad.
TA-DA! You've escaped and completed the game!
It seems a lot of you are taking a while at the sliding puzzle. It took me a couple of minutes at most (maybe because I'm good at these sliding puzzle things XD) but here's the tip for anyone who wants to finish it faster or whatever.
I did it by looking at which tiles are corners. You can tell when the balls bounce off.
Hope that helps for the people who are getting stuck on it but don't want the answer right away.
Am I the only who can't pick up the cup from the desk???
I've managed to do everything else, and using the hints got the clue the cup provides, but without the hints, this would have been unsolvable. I clicked everywhere around the cup, closed the game, emptied my cache, reloaded and tried again, tried clicking the cup with all combos of moving the stool, but to no avail. That's just bad programming! arrrrg.
Just my humble opinion:
Any "point and click" game that has a SLIDER PUZZLE...
stinks.
Not fun. Not fun at all. I stopped playing this with the awful slider puzzle. If you enjoy slider puzzles then this is THE GAME FOR YOU.
If you do not like slider puzzles then...
do not play this game. It is frustrating and not fun. Games are supposed to be fun and relaxing.
This game makes me want to slap somebody.
Sorry, this game just doesn't make any logical sense, I hate clicking on everything under the sun in order to beat a game. snoor, no real logic to theses puzzles, just seems like they started from a bunch of scribbles on a paper and worked backwards until they got the awful puzzles that exist. Hard work went into this game but its pointless and boring.
I am sorry, but Irene's walkthru is only partially helpful. I got pretty far with using it, I got into room 2, but then there are things mentioned that are not in the game. WHAT red pencil? There is no pencil! Does it matter that I am playing in what I think is normal mode? (text was mostly japanese, I clicked on the english word normal)
I'm stuck now looking for this mysterious red pencil. I'm going to look at the other walkthrus to see if there are any clues there, but yes, Irene's is the best formatted. The other ones are going to be a pain in the butt to trawl thru step by step.
I'm more frustrated than I should be with this game.
wow, that entire experience sucked. I completed the game, but only by blatantly cheating by reading everybody's spoilers. There was never any red pencil. There were also a bunch of pixel hunts I never would have gotten without help (thank you). Notably,
the one on the couch, and the hot water heater. Also, I think there was a bug, because I made the red A show up before I knew that I had to heat the water.
I solved the slider puzzle on my own, but it was challenging to say the least, plus there was the stress of doing it in a dark room. And there was no indication that I got it right either. Then I read the walkthru on
how to find the last puzzle tile piece
Honestly, what stressed out person who just triumphantly solved a difficult slider puzzle, is going to do that?
I can go on about exactly how bad this game is, but I will stop there. 1 star rating.
Yeah, I know, yet another walkthrough... This one includes some observations that I haven't seen in previous posts.
1.
Get tape from drawer.
Observe:
the panel without a handle, and the door with numeric code lock. It (enticingly?) says "OPEN" at the top of the code panel...
Turn right.
2.
Get maze piece from cupboard
(underneath the number "magnets").
Notice that you can spell things (tediously) and the 3x4 arrangement with a line. Also notice that you have 11 digits, with two of #5 and one of everything else.
3.
Move right-hand cushion up and down several times until you see the flash of something falling from it.
Pick it up; it's a weird silver key.
Click at the left side of the space under the lifted cushion to see a clue on the edge of the other cushion:
star = FUN.
4. Turn right. Notice clue:
LOVE = star + drop.
You can move the footstool around, but it doesn't seem to do anything. Turn right.
5. Get:
cup [Note: this doesn't apply in the "hard" version of the game -- the cup there appears to be stationary.]
(click "about" and then the bottom to see the number 8),
maze piece, paperclip
(click "about" and then on top end to straighten it).
From book, get
the handle
and some clues:
P isn't 0, and a 3x4 pattern of squares (which I haven't figured out where to use).
Notice there's one page with a squarish hole in it.
6. Turn right, back to first wall. Apply
handle to safe, get
screwdriver and last maze piece
(from the back of the door).
Examine screwdriver;
click the bottom until you get it extended.
Notice that you still can't quite reach the pencil.
Examine maze pieces and apply tape.
Solve maze to get code:
5941.
7. Enter code in door pad to
open the door to a dark room. Enter, and the door locks behind you.
Click on and around the vaguely-seen shelf unit until you get a flashlight. Examine it and turn it on.
Get
a picture of the room you came from,
and use the
silver key to open the box and get a wrench. (If you didn't get the key [from the couch cushion], don't worry -- you'll be able to come back and use it later.)
8. Go right. Use the
screwdriver on the bottom of the water heater (up on the wall) to get the power cord. Plug it in.
Click the black tiles on the mosaic-y wall until you get one of them. You'll need it in a bit to get back to the better-lit room.
9. Apply
cold water to the picture to get a clue:
a blue arrow pointing at the clock.
(This step is necessary for a later step to work.)
Use the
wrench to switch the faucet handle and get hot water. Use hot water on the
picture to get another clue:
A = 4 (o'clock). [Bug: this works even if you don't turn on the water heater.]
Use hot water on the
cup to get another clue:
a letter P.
Combine this with the clue from the bottom of the cup to get
P = 8.
10. Click the
wall to the right of the sink several times until you see
a glint and can get a gold key.
Click again until you're looking into the safe; use the
extended screwdriver to push the back wall back.
(Now you'll be able to get the pencil, once you're back in the other room.)
11. Turn right. Use the
key on the puzzle thingy by the door to activate it. Solve the sliding puzzle. (Yeah, easier said than done.)
The balls bounce off the edges, and you don't have a top right corner piece. Once the balls are bouncing in a logical fashion inside the box, use the
black tile you picked up earlier to complete the puzzle and unlock the door.
(Put it in the slot off to the side, then slide it into place.)
12. Back in
the well-lit room, turn right and click underneath the clock. Use the
straightened paperclip in the little hole to extend a clue-banner below the clock:
drop = PAIN.
Note that this step doesn't work unless you've
applied cold water to the picture to get the blue arrow clue.
13. Turn right and
open the safe to get the (now easy to reach) pencil. Use it
on the maze to shade in the path that got you into the other room.
This seems circular: you use the code to get the pencil which reveals the code which got you the pencil?
Or is the path a different clue? Turn left, and use
the book page with the hole in it to reveal one last clue:
F = 7.
14. Now go to the cupboard. Use the
clues you've found to enter an equation:
PAIN + FUN = LOVE. (I'm not sure what this says about the author's, um, bedroom preferences, but nevermind.) Fill in the digits you know, using the magnets:
P is 8, A is 4, and F is 7.
Notice that
N has to be 5, because that's the only digit you have twice. This means that E is 0 (5 plus 5 is 10).
A plus F is 11, so L is 9 and O is probably 1 -- there aren't any numbers left for the tens column that are big enough to carry to the hundreds. (Well, OK, so 6+3+1 [carried from the ones] is 10, but you'd need another zero then for the V.)
Turns out there are two possibilities
(I and U can be switched between 2 and 3),
but LOVE
=9160 either way.
Note: in the hard version, you only have
A is 4, F is 7, and P is not equal to zero. I don't know if the puzzle is solvable this way.
15. You can go try that on the door pad,
but it turns out that LOVE doesn't conquer all in this game: you get a doorway with a big red X in it. So the code must be something else. Hint:
the answer was one of the things you noticed early on.
It's on the door pad,
enticingly:
OPEN. According to the code in the cupboard,
OPEN=1805.
The escape code doesn't work if you put it in before your "game self" has acquired at least some of the clues, by the way.
The first time i played there was no red pencil in wall, and i could not extend screwdriver, so i starded a new game, and pencil was there, and i could extend screwdriver, i would not have known that if i dint se walkthrough, and can someone make a vidio walkthrough for slider puzzle, its ridiculous...............
So the final code for the door is
OPEN
Right. easy enough to convert to numbers. But how do you find out that it's
OPEN
Where is the clue that will lead me to this conclusion? I didn't care for this game much. It was a bit random. Slider puzzles are frustrating at the best of times but this one was horrendous. Some of the puzzles were stupid. I liked the maths puzzle mind... It reminded me of one I did at school a long, long time ago.
DOVE + WREN = EAGLE
I still feel like there something I'm missing on
the slider puzzle. I understand that you're supposed to look at where the balls are bouncing and rearrange the pieces so that the balls bounce around freely and all the walls line up with the edges of the puzzle. What I seem to be having trouble with is how to slide the pieces around. Normally, slider puzzles have one empty space which you move an adjoining tile into by clicking on that tile. How do you tell where the empty tile is? And is there anyway to keep the grey tile which shows you what the piece that goes in each square looks like from getting in your way and blocking your view of a tile?
Ok, so I figured out my problem with the red pencil & screwdriver. This game is all about the number puzzle. The different difficulty levels change what objects you can pick up/interact with.
Thus, those on normal can't
extend the screwdriver or find the red pencil
Those on hard can't
pick up the cup and god knows what else
All of this this limits the number of clues you get to solve the number puzzle, since all items are ultimately used to solve it.
I think this is why I ultimately didn't like this game. When other games are all about solving a single puzzle, they seem to hide it better (I guess that all escape the room puzzles could arguably be consider to be about solving the puzzle of how to leave, but that's not my point). In this game, the clues are disparate pieces that don't feel like puzzles unto themselves. This is only reinforced by the fact that the different difficulty levels can remove them without affecting the overall game.
Well, congratulations, Irene. I intended to send the rest of the walkthrough later, but I had some unexpected problems and didn't manage to write it. But I think you would have won, anyway. Congratulations to everyone who made a walkthrough, I didn't think it would be so hard and take so much time as it actually did. I'm looking forward for the next walkthrough challenge, if Jay makes another one. See ya!
Uneeded with the information above and the fact that all the modes of difficulty seem to give the same answers but hard is solvable with the information provided.
It just involves some trial and error
Work it through as normal and you'll get the usual
F=7 (book clue)
A=4 (picture clue)
N=5 (as there are two N's and two 5's)
And by extension you get
O= 11 (i.e. 1 with the other 1 to add onto the total of the colum to the left whatever that turns out to be)
E=10 (i.e. 0 with the 1 added to the column to the left whatever that turns out to be)
You'll be left with 6 9 3 2 8
Remembering you've got one to add onto the total anyway no matter what it is if you pick two of those at a time to add together you'll soon find that only 2 and 3 work (therefore 5+ that extra 1=6 so V=6) anything else would involve numbers you've already allocated to other letters and doesn't work or logically the two numbers your left with don't fit into the last step below correctly.
That leaves you with 9 and 8 and ofc the only way it can go is for P=8 and L=9 as you have that one in the column already and 1+8=9
Little hard to explain but I hope that makes sense or if you play around with the numbers in the game you'll see what I mean
Although as I didn't use the P does not equal 0 clue in the book for that I'm not sure if this is the intended way to solve or not even...
So I know there's a lot of hair-pulling and weeping and gnashing of teeth about the sliding puzzle. That stupid thing's been keeping me from finishing this game, and I hate it. But I found a ray of hope! I found that there is SLIDING PUZZLE SOLVING SOFTWARE available to freely download off the good old interweb.
http://www.balmoralsoftware.com/sliding.htm
I'm lazy, and I want to finish this puzzle, and I did! It takes only 42 moves if you don't touch the puzzle before you enter it in. 42... Coincidence?
Unlike most the other comments, I actually really liked _this_ sliding puzzle-I usually hate them, but that's because they come up so bloody often that it usually seems like the game designers are just phoning it in (WindWaker, anyone?) The balls made for a very nice twist on the standby.
I also like the _concept_ of varying difficulties, but not this execution. I'd have preferred it if the cup & pencil simply weren't present in the hard version.
Major frustration. Absolutely no way to open screwdriver. Clicked every conceivable pixel. Nadda.
Cheated to get into second room, only to spend way too much time on sliding puzzle. I rarely quit a game, but when I can't even do it WITH a walk-thru....there's something wrong. I'm sorry to say that this game was just a waste of time for me.
Um, I can't even PICK UP the cup on hard! I checked, and you can pick it up on easy! Apparently FonGeBoon's idea of how to make a game "harder" is to make it impossible to finish by prohibiting you from picking up items THAT YOU NEED TO PROGRESS THROUGH THE GAME. I thought that the hard part was the different difficulty of something to do with math, as is implied next to the "EASY" option; I, being good with math, wanted a challenge, so I went for hard. That's bull.
I just checked that there's no need to get the cup to finish it in HARD mode. The number/letter hints you have are:
F=7 from the paper maze+pencil+blue book (a hard one indeed!), then A=4 from the photo+cold water+hot water, then N=5 as it's the only one repeated. With that hints alone you can solve the equation
The game lost it for me as soon as I needed to come on-line and look for help.
This occurred for me in the first room when I hit a dead end, everything picked up that could be and a pointless random unsolvable puzzle sitting in a cupboard wasting my time.
1) To get the third piece of the maze you have to click somewhere no-one in their right mind would think of clicking.
2) Why do we have access to the cupboard puzzle from the beginning? Without any hint that you have to wait for the end of the game to even bother looking at it.
So I'm sitting here thinking the only way to progress is to solve the cupboard puzzle, wasting hours of my life.
I finally go on-line (here) and it's just that I've missed a hidden screen which can only be found by an UNusual pixel hunt.
Jeez, just leave the cupboard locked and have the key presented to you at the penultimate clue puzzle.
Oh well, time to try another room escape.

Walkthrough Guide
(Please allow page to fully load for spoiler tags to be functional.)
A = 4 (from the clock's picture)
F = 7 (from the colored-in maze)
P = 8 (from the cup)
You win!
