Beethro Budkin has been going down, down, down, for a while now, clearing out all the critters and baddies in King Dugan's dungeon. But even a smitemaster like him has to be worried that he's reached the Deadly Rooms of Death within unlucky floor thirteen... not to mention unlucky floors fourteen, fifteen, and sixteen. So lift your Really Big Sword, wipe the Living Tar off your boots, and get set to patiently-and-strategically charge into the newest browser installment of Caravel Games' turn-based puzzle-strategy games: DROD: King Dugan's Dungeon Lite - Episode 4!
Move Beethro with the [arrow] keys (though utilizing the diagonals of the number keypad is recommended if you have one), and swing the Really Big Sword clockwise or counterclockwise with the [W] and [Q] keys. Explore each level to find the exit, opening doors by triggering switches and killing various snakes, roaches, and the dreadful living tar. Each switch can be clicked with the mouse to reveal how it will affect the environment. With every move you make, the baddies will respond with a move of their own (and watch out for those diagonals!). Scrolls will reveal new information, stepping on a red x-tile will save your progress as a checkpoint, and [R] can be pressed to restart any room from the beginning. And trust me: you'll probably need it. We're plunging past the halfway point of the original game, and now every move and every swing of the sword counts more than ever. DROD: King Dugan's Dungeon Lite - Episode 4 will chew you up and spit you out... and fans of the series wouldn't have it any other way,
Yeeehaaaw! Beethro kicks hiney!
ugh. can't get past the snakes on the training level :S
To beat the tutorial snakes, make a lane in the center right destructible wall, knock a little out of the top or the bottom, and leave the bottom or the top alone, except for a single brick to access the final snake. Then lead the snakes into the right side where you destroyed more, then wait many cycles. That is how I just beat it.
WAY Too Hard for a causal player. 2/5. gave up after the LAME blobs.
WOOOOT! It's only a year after the announced completion date. I finished 1-3 and have been waiting for this for two years.
I love tactical puzzles, so this series is one of my favorite few flash games. (The other is Mission in Space: The Lost Colony by StormAlligator)
This one starts off a bit harder than the others. If you're interested it might make sense to try 1-3 first.
I really don't get the "too hard for casual" above. Since when does "casual" mean "bad?"
This is one of my favorite puzzle games of all time. It's often difficult, but rewarding.
Please note DROD will receive a new game named The Second Sky soon... Maybe in a few weeks.

Y'all are doing better than me. I got stuck on the tutorial level that says "You'll learn the backswipe here." Not sure if I'm just failing reading comprehension or what but I can't figure out how to move "directly north west."
MmeTurbulence:
Use your number pad keys. 1,3,7 and 9 will move you diagonally. I'm not sure if it's playable without a keyboard with a number pad.
@cendare re: snakes and eyes
Kill the top and bottom eyes from the first column to create two dead ends you can lure snakes into.
I got stuck at the goblins (hardest tutorial since Battle for Wesnoth). I'm pretty sure I understand their movement:
They attack if you're facing away, and try to stay 2 away from you if you're facing them.
And I'm pretty sure I can kill the snake with just one goblin, but I can't get past him without killing him or getting killed.
For those finding this REALLY hard, be aware it's the fourth in a series, and all four are a repackaging of the original DROD game; these are basically the final levels, and consequently the hardest, which build on the concepts you've been learning all along.
If you're jumping straight into this without playing the earlier three, the tutorial's gonna feel a bit harsh, let alone the actual levels. You may want to try the earlier ones first.
DROD's a puzzle. It isn't an action game. Every solution makes sense, but for plenty of rooms, you need to play PERFECTLY.
I ended up solving the snake/eye level a little differently:
I killed three of the eyes, and went west. I had all three of the remaining eyes lined up, and I jiggled them up and down while the snakes were nearby. The snakes ended up fitting into a gap between two eyes. This way was more dangerous since I had little room to maneuver, and I don't recommend it.
Hm. got past the snakes, ran into the 'clone potion' and said 'ARGH' again :D i fail :D
Why is this rated :S?

Two problems with symmetric solutions:
Use snake to block roach, then roach to block snake.
Having trouble with 1s 9e
the second goo level...
the little 7 block notch in the top left tunnel is impossible to clear at the end of the game...
any ideas?
pudge-
You have to keep the goo out of that notch.

Anyone know if there is a connection between the 'poem' in the entrance and the row of different tiles in the void in 2n2w?
