enDice Complete
Sequels to fantastic works are oftentimes charged with the delicate task of only evolving a finite amount. Change too much, and they're accused of losing what made the original a classic; change too little, and they're found guilty of not innovating enough, of resting on the haunches of their ancestor's popularity. It's nice to come across a sequel every now and again that does its sterling predecessor proud, and Ozzie Mercado's follow-up to his ingeniously simple puzzle game is so much more than a tune-up and a fresh coat of paint. This is enDice Complete, a true test of dice-shifting deftness and skill.
The goal is simple. Each die can make a number of moves equivalent to the number on its face, and it's your job to make sure that every die ends up in one of the square-shaped "zones" by the time it's expended all of its moves. Click on a die to select it, then drag your mouse in a direction and release to slide the die in that direction. [U] undoes the last move, and can erase as many missteps as you'd like leading right back to the start. This game doesn't sound too tricky, but keep in mind that dice are capable of pushing each other should the situation call for it, not to mention the adroit yellow dice that can vault effortlessly over other dice, and the stalwart orange dice that refuse to be pushed.
For a game that lets you in the door with a charming grin and a promise of simplicity, as soon as the door closes behind you, the smile fades, and the pale eyes glisten crimson. It doesn't take long for the difficulty to increase, and when it does, you'll be able to tell. On that note, however, this is an excellent game to get a group of friends around to suggest other ideas or possible solutions. The game takes all of mere moments to explain, and then your accomplice will look over your shoulder and say "Well, then why don't you just...oh, I suppose that wouldn't work..." and so on. There's something mesmerizing about the game's duality of conceptual straightforwardness and devious level design.
And if the puzzles here aren't diabolical enough for you, then there's a brand new level editor for purposes of designing the most maddening dice conundrums you can conjure. There's even a system that boils your design down to a numeric code that can be given to all your friends (who will be as serious about this as you are). Some unlockables exist, like a level-editor-solver and different color themes, but my eyes had grown too adjusted to the initial palette for the alternate themes to be anything but muddling. Add some catchy, non-distracting background music and simple-as-can-be visuals, and you get a sequel that handily eludes the shadow of its progenitor while simultaneously delivering a fun and accessible, though at times dizzyingly challenging experience.
Simple rules but complicated solutions make for a great puzzle!
One glitch: I can click on any level and play it, even the ones I haven't unlocked yet.
I lost interest after level 4 when I found that
I had managed to occupy all areas, with a move left.
I think there should be a bonus for that!
So far I really enjoy the game! The music and style is quite nice. I'm on level 12 and completely hit a wall. I'll keep at it for a bit longer, but all-in-all, a very nice mental workout. :)
If you manage level 12 some help would be greatly apprecciated!
SmileyRiley, the trick is to use ALL the moves. It would be quite easy on some levels to get all spaces filled with the dice still being able to be moved. Not much of a challenge :p
Excellent game.
w = white
o = orange
L = on left side
R = on right side
LEVEL 12
wL3 - up - right wL1
oL2 - up oL1

wR3 - down - left - left
wR2 - left - down

Level 29 is driving me crazy!
This is the most fun i've had with a puzzle game in a loooong looooooooooong time! :)
This is a great puzzle game. Excellent interface, too. Top notch.
leadthumb, (or anyone else on Lvl 29), here's a hint:
Consider that the leftmost square on the bottom can only be reached by a jumping block. Also consider the only direction from which a block can be pushed there.
Bigger hint (indicating which block goes there and the first move to make):
The grey two on the right ends up there. Start by jumping it DOWN below the white-pip four.
Finally beat the game... whew!
I didn't use hints for once either haha.
The best part of this game is that no matter how long I was stuck it was never frustrating, and working out one key move at a time and finally putting them all together was sooo rewarding :)
Funny enough, the last level only took maybe two tries(the hardest to solve pieces were easy to spot), the real whopper in my opinion, was level 38.
That has to be the most complicated solution with the most variables in the game!
Amazing game, easily the most fun I've ever had with with a single player puzzle game.
I hope there is another one one the way!
I am stuck on level 28. Any help please?
Ah great game but i'm stuck on 26.
Can anyone please give me a hint?
I really love the game. Especially level 26 was very hard in ma opinion, but finally I managed to solve it. I would like to solve level 33 on my own, too, but unfortunately I do not get it.
This is how much I know about level 33, I would be grateful for additional hints:
- The 2 on the right bottom has to be put between the both 2s in the 3rd column.
- I think, the trick to get the dice away from the third column is (besides using the upper 2 on the right) about the two 3s there are. Right? For this, the lower 3 has to be pushed by the upper 3.
So far so good, I've tried to realize that in many different ways, but there is always one dice out of a zone.
So can anybody help me out there or give me a hint?
Just after asking here for level 33 I've done it... But so I can say, the spoilers were right. :-)
stuck in lvl 39, require 1 pace to complete but dunno how..,I make it either 1 extra move or lack of 1-2 moves.
Nevermind, I got it
Help with level 16? I'm so stuck!
I am sooooo stuck on 35
NM, got 16. For anyone else who needs help, what got it for me was realizing that the four corners are the same, each with a 4 and 2 die.
If anyone's completed it, a full walkthrough would be SO HELPFUL.
Love,
Stuck on 19
Help with 26??? thanks!
