It's another blast from the past with this week's Weekday Escape. It's an oldie from our old friend Bianco-Bianco by the name of Escape from Dr. Ichie's Factory, another gem in the Dr. Ichie series (you may remember the Room and the Café).
The story's a familiar one: you wake up in the middle of an odd factory building, and you find a note from the culprit, Dr. Ichie, telling you that you have to solve some puzzles to escape from it. Well, Doc, we eat rooms like yours for breakfast every Wednesday. Pity this area isn't as comfortable as the other two.
Navigation is a simple affair. To turn, move the mouse cursor to the edge of the screen, and when it turns green, click. To use items, click them once to select them, then show the game what you want to use them on. To examine them, double-click. And, of course, you know the rest.
Analysis: We all know what Bianco-Bianco does best, and they do it again. Everything we know them for is here: puzzles that make sense without being too obvious, photorealistic graphics (and a nice panning system from screen to screen), a little pixel-hunting (but not a lot), and (*sigh*) no soundtrack whatsoever. I know some games are over-the-top with it, but I wouldn't have minded at least a *ping* when you picked up an item.
Nevertheless, the Factory is such a well-designed piece of work that it's definitely worth a play.

That was pretty easy!
Here's my first walkthrough:
1. Getting your orientation
Click on the slit on the wall. Note that you need a time card.
Click on the white machine in the corner. Note that you need the time card in the holder to open the door.
Zoom out and turn left once and click on the trolleys on the right. Click on the right trolley and pick up the piece of paper.
Zoom out and click on the sign above the table. Note what it says.
Zoom out and click on the green clock on top of the table. Pick up another piece of paper.
Click behind the clock to find a stapler.
Zoom out and turn left. Click on the empty frames. Click on the frame with the writing and note what it says.
Click on the cabinet in the corner. Open it to find some staples inside. Pick it up and put it in your stapler.
Zoom out and click on the empty frame again. This time turn left and note what's on the bottom shelf.
Zoom out and click on the forklift. You need to find the code.
Zoom out and turn left. Click on the boxes on the right. Note the boxes with the colourful dots.
Zoom out and click on the spray cans. Look under the lid for a socket.
Zoom out and click on the 2 boxes on the left. Can't do much for now, but note that you need a key for the red toolbox, and the white box has a thin slit.
2. Solving the puzzles
(a) Opening the door on the forklift
The code is on the boxes with colourful dots.
The boxes with colourful dots corresponds to the keypad on the door.
Remember the writing on one of the empty frames?
4915. Open it and get the ratchet. Put the socket on the ratchet.
(b) Opening the bolts
If you followed the steps for 2.(a), you should have the ratchet with a socket. Use it on the black box with the bolts to obtain the 3rd piece of paper.
(c) Opening the red toolbox
If you have been following the walkthrough, you should have all 3 pieces of paper, as well as a stapler with staples. Staple the pieces of paper together.
Look at the back of your stack of paper. What does that mean?
It's related to the boxes with colourful dots again.
Rotate the boxes and get a new code for the door on the forklift.
8375. Pick up the key.
Use the key to open the red toolbox to get the time card.
(d) Getting out
While you're at the red toolbox, can you do anything with the white box?
Put the stack of paper in the white box.
Put the time card in the green clock.
Put the time card in the slit next to the exit (the slit is actually a time card holder).
You need to put the time card in the right slot. Match the number on the time card to the number on the holder.
It should go in the 8236 slot.
Press the red OPEN button and you're free!

get ratchet
Back out and go left once. examine the spray cans. Check under the removed cap and get socket. combine the socket and ratchet.
Back out and go right once. Zoom in on the empty racks again, but this time go left. Use the ratchet on the bolted engine block and get third document.
Combine the three documents with the stapler.
Now that you have them stapled turn the documents over and notice the clue.
Again remember the color code, but this time they are rotated. Go back to the safe on the forklift...
