Escape from the Daily Room 3D
For most people, life is filled with constant questions. Why is the sky blue? Why do the birds sing? Why do bad things happen to good people? Why does Steve Jobs hate Flash? Why are so many good escape games in Japanese? To answer the last one we could try to draw a correlation between the average living space in Japan and the folks feeling constantly trapped, but that might be considered culturally insensitive. So how about we just guess that the Japanese really like locking people into small spaces. No? Still insensitive? Okay, then it's just one of those things we are not meant to know. Instead, let's busy ourselves with finding our way out of yet another Japanese room escape, Escape from the Daily Room 3D. And once we've escaped maybe we can figure out what exactly is a Daily Room, anyway? Yet another question for the ages...
Created by Strawberry Cafe (Lunar Rainbow Room Escape, Strawberry Cafe Escape), Escape from the Daily Room 3D is your basic room escape, done up nicely in pastel shades of pink, red, and white. A cutesy little three dimensional space, objects to find, puzzles to solve, and a strange creature are all hallmarks of Strawberry Cafe's work, and they are all present in the Daily Room. There's no music to distract from solving the simple puzzles, although there are sound effects galore to let you know if something has worked. Can you find the two (or two and one half, if you count finding the strange little creature) ways out of the room?
On the plus side: a nice save feature so you don't have to play all the way through again to get the second ending, no color-based puzzles to bedevil the colorblind, and easy navigation with the helpful red arrows at the edges of the screen. On the minus side: no changing cursor to let you find the hot-spots, and no English translation. The puzzles, while not difficult, are fun and universal, using numbers and English letters so no knowledge of Japanese is required.
Not the most difficult game, but Escape from the Daily Room 3D hangs together nicely with a blend of puzzle solving and found objects. If you're into that red/pink/white color palette (as Strawberry Cafe obviously is) and enjoy solving your way out of locked rooms, then this can be a delightful way to waste a few minutes. A light, frothy delight perfect to counterbalance the mid-week blahs and the increasing summer heat. The whipped cream with a cherry on top of room escapes, if you will. Enjoy the refreshing treat.
Managed to get one of the endings without a walkthrough! :D Now to figure out how to get the other one...
Out fairly quick, needed a bit of help to figure out the letters on the wall but once I had that I was golden. (: Cute game!
Got one ending, too. And I've found the little creature and what I think must be the other way out but I can't work out how to actually get out. I think I'm not getting
the TEN clue which I assume I need to open the grey box.
Ah, the power of posting. And I'm rewarded with a bit of Satie's Gymnopedie for my efforts.
Out without using the TEN clue, just forgot, so I might go back. Actually got out by accident just opened the door. didn't expect it to open. couldn't do any thing with the toy cat face.
Went back and did the ten clue, got a different ending with falling stars.
Overall a good game. things are basically straight forward
got 4 vases, the paper with square, circle, triangle, X on it, the paper with number on it, a credit card?, and a tape, stuck =P, anyone know how to open the leter box and number box =P
Dez
Look behind one of the chairs.
Where did you find the x vase?
Dez -
The letter box:
The clue is the T E N with arrows above it.
Which number box are you talking about, the one with 3 digits or 4 digits?
use the credit card to open the wooden door, get in and close it, the painting inside will go up, reveal the X vase, BTW i finished it, but i don't know how to use the T E N hint, and the animal in the wooden door room =P
Found the exit.I'm now trying for the alternate ending. I've opened the letter box and I know where to use the key but there's no keyhole. Is the painting some kind of hint or what?
Priha -
Did you:
Go out the white door the first time? Have you tried using the key on the painting? Have you played with the up and down buttons by the case where you put the plants?
Got the happy end thanks
I was kicking myself when I realised the code for the table by the port hole.
Look at the funky bookcase. I mean really look at it.
Got both endings, but I never managed to
open the little ... eh .. door in the second room. The one on the picture in the first room.
Ahh, the power of the post. looked a bit more closely and there it was.
Stuck on the TEN clue and the post box.HELP
jsagemonster -
Think shifting to the right.
Power of the post!! Sussed it
where is the paper with the shapes and the paper with the numbers?
Is there 3rd ending (or more)?
I feel stupid, everyone got out and I'm stuck near the beginning. I have two plants, a key, a key card, tweezers, and a bottle with a strawberry on it.
where do I find the three digit code?
@Dez-where is the tape?
never mind i found the numbers
look really hard at the bookcase
if you can't see it it's
4520
I get a 403 error when I try to access this game. What gives?
Got one exit. Still don't get what the TEN clue did once I solved it.
What is this toy cat face people are talking about? I got both endings (the regular one and the one that says "Happy End" with stars falling) and didn't see anything cat face.
Also, I never figured out what the painting was about.
for heaven's sake, where do i put the plants?
i found the shape paper and assumed i put the plants in the grid bookcase, but it doesn't work!
Got the "Happy Ending" (night background with falling stars. There are some items/clues i didnt use, must be to get the other ending(s)
Where do I find the paper with the shapes on it?
jspath:
You use the tweezers on the small bottle you find
Now, where is the
X-shaped vase?
found:
Paper with shapes. White trapezium shaped potted plant, pink cube shaped plant, silver key and golden key with strawberry
Now I am stucked and none of my ideas what I could do works.
Never mind. I found it and managed to get both endings :P
There must be at least a third ending. I've gotten two endings already without ever solving the 4-number puzzle. Never found any use for the cat critter either.
ps Anybody else have trouble with IE cutting off the right and bottom of the game screen? I had to play in Firefox.
Are there technical/browser issues? I can't use inventory items in the room. Plants don't go onto shelves, key doesn't work anywhere, and I can't figure out how to use the red number grid with the chair. Firefox on a mac.
dulcibella: sorry if this is a repeat. Didn't see post online.
Firefox on Mac works fine.
Plants go on shelves in a particular order. Have you found the clue? Also
have to make a change to the bookcase first.
Which key? There are more than one.
Chair/grid:
You need the tape first.
Where is the blankety-bland tape!
can't find the 3 digit heart code.. help.

Has anybody figured out what the cat-like creature in the second room is for? All it does is say "piqua/bigwah" when I click on it.
It might just be an Easter Egg, but I don't know.
too much pink! MY EYES!!!!
For the record, the "daily" bit in the title is supposed to mean "everyday, ordinary". -常の部屋 = ordinary room.
I don't know if it's a glitch but I accessed the Happy End both times whether I
used the pink key on the frame or not

Any idea why I can't access the game?Dx.
Couldn't figure out what to do with the round cat in the second room.
Hi, friends! An interesting escape game, but it's so much pink!
P.S.: Excuse my poor english ;D
Take the potted plant that is on the table next to sofas.
Look under this potted plant. Hmm, a card ...
Take another potted plant that is in a vain on the wall near the bookshelf of stone.
Note the shelf in the wall containing red books.
What weird format ... A 4-digit number: 4520!
Go to the table where you got the white potted plant and enter the code found. Click on the drawer. The drawer is open. Take the tool (a twezeers).
Go to the table that has two white chairs. Click the plant pot that is on that table. Take the smaller pot.
Select the bottle. Grab the tweezers and then click in the bottle. Hmm ... A paper with a square, x, a circle and a triangle.
Go to the opening scene. Click on the rectangle that appears on the wall below the picture with circles. T E N... With arrows on the letters ...
Go to the bookcase with the hidden number (4520). Click the gray box of rectangular form. A code of 3 letters? try TEN?
Sorry. But the arrows about the letters? Try putting a letter after the letters of T.E.N. (T - U; E - F, N - O). Great! Come back and see a key. Take it.
Go to the sofas. Click in the right corner of the right sofa. An white key!
Go to the brown door. Note that on top of it there is a type of sensor. Take the card and click on that sensor. The door is opened!
Go to this new room. Click on the counter with strawberries. Open compartments. A card with numbers ... Interesting.
One of the compartments is locked. Try the white key. Good! An adhesive tape.
Another white vase! He is on a small table beside the door, inside the secret room. Take it.
Note that this room is a picture. Quit it. Look through the hatch above the table. The picture moved! There is a potted plant behind him. Use the card again and go back there.
Inside the secret room, close the door using the card on the sensor. The painting has moved again! Take the potted plant.
Go to the table and white chairs. Click on the chair with three holes. Click on the side of the chair. Look! A space provided. Select the table of numbers and clicking in this area. She is stuck now.
Look again the chair. A 3-digit number: 9 8 7! Go to the opening scene, and enter that number in the box on the shelf. A triangular button!
Go to the shelf of stone. Note that lack a triangular button on the control side. Click it and insert the button, and tighten it.
Look! Now the shelf looks like a ladder. Look the vases, clicking on them. I think I've seen these forms somewhere...
Are the forms of paper! Place the pots on the shelf in the same order paper.
After placing the vases in their places, click the triangular down arrow next to the bookcase. Another door! Open it with the golden key. Freedom!
Good bye!
Seriously, what cat? What second room? What the hell are you people talking about? Do you mean the room you access with the keycard?
I have escaped several times with different endings, using different doors, keys, paintings, etc. skipping certain clues and more and I have NEVER seen an animal/cat anywhere?
There has to be a third ending. Neither the tape nor the "cat face" do anything.
And I, too, got the Happy Ending without using the the other key or seeing the cat face.
For those who don't see the "cat face," it's:
In the room with the brown wood door that you open with the access card. When viewing the cabinet, you will notice a small gray hatch to the bottom right. When you go back in there after getting everything, there's the squeaking cat face. But as far as I can tell, it doesn't DO anything.
I only got 2 endings (white door, grey door). is there a way to enter the door in the painting in the smaller room?
i presume the painting above the TEN clue refers to the creature in the smaller room. There are ten pictures of it, making different faces. Significance unknown???
Can't figure out why the strawberry key stays in the inventory?
For different endings:
Normal ending
Once you put the plants in the correct places go out the door to the right
Happy ending
Press the down button on the panel next to the place where you put the plants and use the strawberry key on the door that appears
Cat face thing
Before you use the strawberry key on the door for the happy ending take the purplish key that appears and put it in the picture frame with the keyhole. Then go into the other room and click the silver smidge in the lower right side of the screen
The link does not work.
[I just checked, at least from my location in the US, the game is accessible and loads at the link as expected. You may have to scroll down the page a little for the game to appear. -Jay]
