Escape from the Round Room

DoraAwwwwwww yisssss, ain't no escape like a Tesshi-e escape, 'cause Tesshi-e escapes don't stop 'til you've enjoyed a finely crafted series of puzzles! In Escape from the Round Room, you're enjoying a nice extended vacation in a quaint little lodge, but when it comes time to leave, you find yourself locked in. That, besides the fact that there's no stove, bathroom, or refrigerator, or basic amenities whatsoever beyond that fabulous bedazzled toaster would make me think they owe you a refund, but the incredibly swanky smooth jazz they're piping in makes me willing to forgive a lot. Making sure you select "English" from the title screen unless you speak Japanese, to play, click to interact and navigate, and view items you gather by clicking once to highlight them, then again on the About Item button. If you want to see if something you're holding can be used in the environment, click to highlight, and then again where you're trying to use it. True to Tesshi-e fashion, there are clues hidden everywhere to help you solve the locks and codes barring your way, so click every cranny and ponder every puzzle!

Escape from the Round RoomOne of the things Tesshi-e does best is design spaces that seem small and sparse, but wind up hosting a surprising amount of puzzles and clues. Escape from the Round Room is a prime example with its economical design that at first glance seems emptier than other Tesshi-e titles, leading you from objective in objective in a natural progression, each one nudging you towards the next. It's a mix of the straight-forward and the more eclectic, though none of it is what you'd call unintuitive except maybe in one instance where a locked object doesn't need a traditional key, or you have to revisit a "solved" object you might not necessarily think to. Still, Escape from the Round Room winds up being quite creative in some unexpected ways, and Tesshi-e's usual level of intellectual polish and style shines through. It may not have been what you expected when you rented this circular little lodge for a weekend of rest, but Tesshi-e is one land lady you never have to worry about disappointing you.

Where he found the bar?

Cool, first time I've ever done a Tesshi-e puzzle without needing a walkthrough, though there was one element that stumped me for a bit. Overall, I'd say it was not among his hardest, but certainly enjoyable :)

I'm stuck

Spoiler

I have an as-of-the-moment blank note, a coin, a spade key, toast with numbers I don't know how to use, a screwdriver, and a battery. I've used the key and the screwdriver once.

Username April 15, 2014 4:26 PM

First off, how did you get

Spoiler

numbers on the toast?

Secondly, use the

Spoiler

coin on the box to the left of the books to open it, it takes some pixel hunting, and then use the water handle on the sink downstairs, and then wet your note for your next clue.

Reply
shjack180 April 15, 2014 4:29 PM

For the bread

Spoiler

I put the bread into the toaster on the downstairs shelf. When I took it out and examined it, there were numbers on it.

So there is something on that shelf other than books! Thanks

Reply

@shjack

Spoiler

You need to find the faucet attachment. It takes some pixel hunting. Look around the bookshelf on the second floor.

@Username

Spoiler

After you toast the bread (next to hippos), the numbers show up. The numbers are related to the book upstairs. Think of what the numbers might represent.

Reply
shjack180 April 15, 2014 4:36 PM

@grander

Spoiler

Any other hints for how the numbers relate to the book? I tried converting the underlined sections into letters, but that's not helping me

Reply
shjack180 April 15, 2014 4:38 PM

Nevermind, I figured it out

Reply
shjack180 April 15, 2014 4:42 PM

Sweet! Out with a happy coin! :D Thanks for the help grander and Username

Reply

come Freaking ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just went through 000-999 on the bottom drawer on the second floor, and NOTHING HAPPENED. What am I doing Wrong??!?!

Reply
Username April 15, 2014 6:34 PM

Uhh, bread next to the hippos? Where?!?

Reply

I do not think there is anything next to the hippos on the second floor. As for "where" the bread is, the order of puzzles to get it is windows, coin stand, green thing. What do the bread numbers mean? The letters, US keyboard shifted left once, is nwjv xhuuw swu. The real code and the shifted code are both VERY confusing pieces of gibberish.

Reply
Username April 15, 2014 6:50 PM

I see the bread in the book, and the toaster downstairs, but where is the bread?

Reply

PLEASE ONLY POST Useful Info Dork!!!! To get the bread, solve the windows, then turn the top of the coin stand after the coin drops out, then you can open the bottom doors of the green thing.

Reply
nerdypants April 15, 2014 7:08 PM

I cannot figure out for the life of me what to do with the bread numbers.

Spoiler

I tried converting them into letters, and that got me gibberish. I tried to see if I could find a connection between the numbers and "I think therefore I am," but I couldn't. What am I missing?

Username, I'm not sure, but I think the bread was in

Spoiler

the green cabinet.

Reply

Yup to the second part. I am stuck with the bread numbers as well.

Reply

So "DAT JAZZ" is a clue to the game? If so, then I apologize to Andrew Rousseau. If it is meaningless, then I am right.

Reply

Thanks, Dora.

I really did enjoy the new music track though. Especially since Tesshi-e's music can get a little... familiar.

Toast with numbers, Pliers (used once), Screw driver (used once) Club Key (used once), Spade Key (used once), Coin (used once), Battery, 3 Pink Birds

bearharry April 15, 2014 9:39 PM

For the numbers on the bread,

Spoiler

The numbers are regard to the sequence of the phrase"I Think Therefore I am"
therefore, the numbers are representing the following letters

Spoiler

13 = O
05 = N
11 = E
02 = T
03 = H
10 = R
09 = E
04 = I

Answer:

Spoiler

ONE 1
Three 3
Nine 9

Hints off of the top of my head:
@Username

Spoiler

If you still have not found the bread, I do believe it is in the locked green cabinet behind the glass doors

@Whobghilee, Nathaniel Shaw, and nerdypants

Spoiler

Once you have the toast, compare its numbers to the book on the shelf that says "I think therefore I am"

Spoiler

Notice that the numbers are sectioned into segments

Spoiler

e.g., 13 05 11 / 02 03...etc.

Spoiler

What can these sectioned numbers mean in relation to the phrase of the book?

Spoiler

Maybe each segment relates to a letter in the phrase

Spoiler

So I = 1, t = 2, h = 3, etc.

Spoiler

Using this clue, the first segment of 13 becomes the letter "O" and so on

Spoiler

Ultimate spoiler here: The final solution yields the code one / three / nine which can be used to open one of the drawers from what I think was the green cabinet

Hopefully that explanation was not too complicated. This is why I do not often try my hand at walkthroughs :p

Reply
shjack180 April 15, 2014 9:44 PM

Doh, I was beat to the punch. Nice one, bearharry. Definitely a much simpler explanation, though my point was to give more hints than answers. Good on ya, mate ;)

Reply

So the question is, is there a happy coin? Or is Tesshi-e the right developer for that?

Reply

Yes, cendare, there is a Happy Coin.

Spoiler

The coffee cups in the cabinet are a hint.

Reply

Please may I swap my happy coin for my robot back !

Reply

walkthrough,please :)

Reply
LaraSkadi April 16, 2014 2:43 PM

Nice one!!! I was freaking out before I found the damn bread, but managed to finish the game without a walkthrough - with a happy coin too!
I really enjoyed the simplistic scenario as well

Reply

So...

Spoiler

How do I get into the bottom drawer of the green cabinet? I've tried going by the number of sides/vertices on the shapes, and nothing.

Reply

Never mind, power of posting.

Spoiler

Did I break the game? I put the bread in the toaster, but it seems like it shouldn't be taking quite this long... is there something else I need to do while it's toasting?

Reply
shjack180 April 16, 2014 3:35 PM

@Sylocat

Spoiler

I put the bread in the toaster, made a full rotation around the room, and then was able to take the toast

Reply
Whobghilee April 16, 2014 5:57 PM

@Sylocat

Spoiler

I always got the toast after opening the toast book upstairs then going back to the toaster

Reply

I can not for the life of me figure out the bottom green cabinet code. I've looked around the room several times and can't see any clue for it. Could some one please give me a hint where to look?

Reply

And then I find it.

Spoiler

It would have been a little easier if the code was written one more space in either direction, so that after I got the regular coin, I'd have noticed there was something else there.

Reply

anyone?

Lilymay:

Spoiler

First, look at the first letter in ESCAPE, E. Where in the word SPACE is it? Last. That means that the gauge under E shall be as high as possible. Then look at the next letter in ESCAPE, S. Where in SPACE is it? First. That means the gauge shall be as low as possible. The third letter, C, is once from last letter, and so the gauge under C shall be once from top.

It's like this diagram:

______E
______C
______A
______P
______S
ESCAPE

Put the gauges in the positions where the point to the same letters. For example top left where it is on column E and row E.

The code is:

Spoiler

Top, Bottom , Second from top, Middle, Second from bottom, Top.

Rotate the top part of the gadget where you got the coin from. It's the gadget left of the dining table on the lower floor.
