Flabby PhysicsJohnBFlabby Physics, by Every Day the Same Dream creator Paolo Pedercini, is a short and simple one button physics puzzle game. The goal is pretty obvious: move the ball to the star. The method for doing this is generally pretty obvious, too: use the [spacebar] to switch positions of the various on-screen blobs. Making the magic happen, though, will take some practice.

Gameplay is mostly trial-and-error, but it's a trial you won't mind undertaking, and errors you can't really avoid. Each level has a different arrangement of shapes, usually amorphous blobs occupying chunks of the screen, and holding/releasing the [spacebar] will shift them from one position to the next. Extending part of a blob while the ball is nearby will shove it around, hopefully sending it straight to your intended goal. If not, no worries, it's not like you're being timed or anything!

There are only a few levels to play in Flabby Physics, and each will take just a minute or two to complete. There's no big fanfare, tallying of points, or high fives at the end, you just start over at the beginning, lending credence to the fact that this is just a conceptual demo. But there's something to be said about the whimsical design of the game. The concept alone — moving blobs of color to propel a ball — is quirky, but add to that the bright colors and the kazoo music and you've got something your average circus clown could call "neat".

Flabby Physics isn't much more than a teaser, but its ten minutes of gameplay are crazy fun, and you probably won't be able to wipe that grin off your face the entire time.

very nice.
my only complaint is that it's too short!

That was fun but even 10 minutes is a huge exaggeration of how long it takes to play this game. I spent longer on the one level with the alternating pink circles than I did on the rest of the game combined.

This game is AWESOME. I love the simplicity and boldness of the graphics. It feels like I'm a little kid playing with some crazy toy. Excellent game.

Interesting. For some reason the game reminds me of one of those kooky live-action children's shows.

I loves teh music!

This is brilliant! I wish it was longer...

I would play it if I could turn off the maddening music.

[When that happens to me, I just press the "mute" key on my keyboard. Magic! :D -Jay]

Is it wrong for me to be in love with the music?

Goodness, it's short. Looks like it could be something. Either that, or I would get bored with it after a while.

Excellent game. I only wish the music had been on a loop -- when it ran out, I began to think that they'd expected me to finish the game quicker. Snif.

(Jay (and game designers), about muting the computer -- often I like to listen to music on the computer while playing a game or doing basically anything else, and then it'd be nice to be able to mute the game without muting the whole computer. :-) )

This was actually a very fun game for the simplicity of it. I completely agree about having a mute/volume function. We technophiles like to listen to music and/or watch shows while we play games (internet ADD). Muting the whole computer is not an option in those cases. I also agree about having the music loop the whole time. It was suitable music for the game. :) Good job, overall!

It doesn't load for me. Just at the "Loading" screen. Been stuck there for five minutes and I'm on a super fast connection. Can't even tell if it's doing anything.

Would make an amazing iphone game, just touch the screen anywhere instead of the space bar. Build a *lot* more levels and add some achievements (bonus stars to collect in hard-to-reach places), and I would buy it in a second for 99 cents. Please!

I like its simplicity. None of the levels were too hard, though some were super easy (if you take into account the fact that some blobs weren't necessary to get to the star). Nice concept, though.

The ONE time I don't want the music to end...and it does.

I guess that's the only way to challenge yourself: see if you can beat the game before the music stops.

More please!

I agree with matt w about sound effects and music for games where the sounds are not integral to the game. I almost always play games with the computer sound muted rather than bother with the game's controls. But when I listen to lectures on the computer or occasionally listen to other music, I often play a game at the same time, and it's very annoying when there's no way to mute the game's sounds.

Sometimes I want to interrupt the game to watch something on youtube or TED or whatever, or to let someone else use the computer for a while. In cases like Flabby Physics where the game also has no pause feature, I hate having to end the game just to stop the sound.

It reminds me of those internet games from the '70s. You know if they had internet games in the '70s.

Am I the only one who thinks that if you gave the Beatles a bunch of kazoos, you would get the soundtrack to this game?
