Have you ever played a game and got so frustrated with it because whatever you did you just couldn't get past one particular boss? That is how my time is spent lately with Metroid Fusion. It's a fantastic game with engaging level design and boss fight after boss fight. The gratification felt when finally defeating that stubborn boss is glorious, and yet this one (named simply "Nightmare") just won't let me be. And like a glutton for punishment, or a geek with OCD, I go running back for more. And yet I know if I just keep trying, I'll master that one skill it's requiring of me. I think I'll go try again...
I am having the very same problem with Metroid Prime. 50% thru the game I get slammed by the boss. It makes me want to break things - or not play the game again - which I haven't in months.
Found you on gamers experimentations. They should have called it gaymers.org. much easier to remember.
My ex (first ex) went to RIT. He really enjoyed it there. Just wanted to drop a note, say hello, and share my frustration after reading yours. Not a big fan of organized religions either.
ciao,

yes, while metroid prime can be frustrating at times, perseverance always paid off for me with it. it is a truly remarkable game... best that i've played, and i mean that. i'd recommend pulling it back out and trying again, as the reward is always sweet when you finally do best the boss and level up. i'll venture to guess that you are stuck on either the Thardus or the omega pirate... both are really tough to beat, but become easy once the proper strategies are employed.
just remember, frustration passes... and it helps to make games more gratifying once you do finally get past it. i usually close my eyes and breathe deeply, meditating lightly while the anxiety passes. then pick up the controller and try again.
thanks for stopping by and saying hello. it's always nice to hear from someone new... you say your ex went to RIT, but you do not say where you are from? i'm assuming not from rochester as most students at RIT are also not from rochester.
