They say that all spy fiction has a proper alcohol that goes with it. James Bond has his martinis, Jason Bourne hits hard like a case of stale beer, and clearly absinthe had something to do with the creation of the Metal Gear Solid 2. For Lethal Dose, the new interactive movie by DonkeyWoman, the drink of choice is a perfectly crafted Cosmopolitan, with a chaser of pure arsenic. In it, you play the part of a femme very fatale, carrying out assassinations against whatever poor sap has crossed someone rich enough to make them disappear. But when demons from her past begin to resurface, the choice of targets will soon end up being hers alone.
Lethal Dose is controlled with the [arrow] keys and [spacebar]. In top-down view mode, you'll use the arrows to move about the area and the spacebar to interact with items. The screen will often switch to a close-up of what you are doing, with on-screen directions informing you what keys need to be pressed. Though things start off easy, by the end succeeding at quick-time events and planning your strategic movement will be key to complete your missions.
Admittedly, Lethal Dose is a work that focuses on aesthetics and plotting rather than gameplay. However, it works fine as the aesthetics are gorgeous. The experience is drenched in gloriously smoky noir, and the twists of the story are perfectly conveyed through the iconic textured graphics. There's a jazzy mellowness that goes down smooth, and while the quick time events get a little repetitive (because quick time events always do), it's never boring. Lethal Dose's dose is a short one, but should be well-enjoyed by players wanting a nicely moody piece of fiction. Just don't blame us if your beverages all start looking mighty suspicious to you.

I'm stuck (I think) on Chapter 6.
After catching the subway, and then wandering around in random directions until I suddenly find myself inside a building, I wander into a hall and shoot a woman, and then get reported, and chased down by the police.
I'm not sure what choice I had in any of this...?
OK, after a few attempts at restarting Chapter 6, I worked it out....
I hadn't realised that I'd entered a chase sequence, with the goal to escape the policeman. I kept getting captured before I knew what was going on.... Eventually,I made it.
I played this when it was posted on RPS and that version froze most of the day through the game. Has it been fixed?
This game is okay, but some of the time it doesn't tell you what you are supposed to do or where you are supposed to go, mostly in chapter 6. I wouldn't play it again.
