Biology was never my strong suit in school. All those mitochondria and phylums and mitosis... meh. Luckily, you don't have to know your genes from your jeans to make it through Life Sciences, a new room escape by Rose Key. The game takes place inside your standard, four-walled room decorated with the theme of — you guessed it — life sciences. Make your escape, or be forever trapped amongst pictures of parameciums and DNA!
It's a simple but charming affair, and no heavy science knowledge is required for success — most of the puzzles are color-based. While some clicking areas are mildly fiddly, a changing cursor alleviates most of the pixel-hunting woes. The puzzles are definitely on the easier side, but they still have a nice logical flow, making for the perfect little coffee break escaper. So grab your bunsen burners and your graduated cylinders and try to make your way out of the room of Life Sciences!

Life Sciences Walkthrough
1. First wall
You're facing a flashlight on a table with two drawers, a blue box under the table, and a picture of a DNA helix on the wall.
a. Right Drawer
Scrabble tiles? Something like that, anyway. M, R, and G. Grab 'em.
b. Left Drawer
Hm, this drawer won't open. Oh well.
c. The flashlight
Ooh, the flashlight turned on. But let's be environmentally conscious and turn it back off.
Hey, it didn't turn off! It just changed color. Bet that's a clue.
Click a few more times and remember the pattern.
Yellow, pink, green, red.
d. The picture
DNA helix. Nothing special here. Except�an on switch?
Colors!
Familiar colors.
They seem to correspond to the flashlight's colors.
Four yellows, three pinks, eight greens, seven reds.
e. The box
The box requires four numbers. It has a picture of the flashlight and a DNA helix on it.
Glad we wrote all that stuff down.
Enter 4387, and get a pipette with reagent in it.
2. The Second Wall - turn right
Another table, but no drawers. A red box, a scroll, and on the wall a picture of a paramecium and a pretty puny periodic table.
a. The scroll.
Get it.

These are the weirdest chemical equations ever!
If only I'd have paid closer attention in chemistry class, maybe I'd remember all the chemical symbols. If only there were some sort of chart, a way of showing chemicals and the symbols that represent them�.

1. hydrogen + neon + calcium - carbon - helium =
H + Ne + Ca - C - He = Na

c. The paramecium picture
Yuck, paramecia are gross.
I think I'll squirt it with some reagent, maybe that will erase the picture.
Ack, now it's in color! Ew, it's all � aww, I guess it's kind of cute. For a microscopic organism.
The contractile vacuoles (the star-shaped things) are blue.
The food nuclei (the circles) are orange.
Except the food vacuole forming at the tip of the gullet, that one's green.
The macronucleus is red.
Oh heck, we don't need to know the names!
d. The blue box
Match shapes to colors.
Blue, green, orange, red.
Seriously, why did I bother learning those names?!?
Get the picture of cells.
3. The Third Wall - turn right again.
Now we're facing a bookcase with a box and two rows of books, and something on the wall that is kind of covered up.
a. The yellow books
Click the second book in and �
Excuse me, but I was told there would be no math. Ugh, algebra. Well, nothing for it.
Ok, let's see. I can see in the second two equations that adding B to A gives 6, adding C to A gets 7.
Which means C is only 1 greater than B.
That with the first equation tells me that B and C are 2 and 3.
Which makes A = 4
b. The yellow box
We've already done the hard part.
4 for A, 2 for B, 3 for C.
Get the medicine.
c. The green books
Huh, none seem to pull out, but if I click the far right book I find another code to break.
I've already broken it.
1. Na, 2. Fe
Ah ha, now the book pulls out.
It tells me using the medicine will kill green monsters or something like that. Haven't seen any so far.
Wait, don't put the book back!
There was a battery behind it, better grab that.
d. The picture on the wall
?E??S ? What does that mean?
Clicking on it gives a crossword puzzle.
Three letters to fill.
And look at that, three letters in my inventory.
Once I use those, I can click to put the letters in the right spots.
G in JUNGLE, M in LAMB, R in CORD.
GERMS! Where's my hand sanitizer?
Oh, hey, those green things were in the book.
The medicine will kill them.
I'm left with one blue, two yellow, three pink, and four orange germs.
4. The Fourth Wall - turn right again.
A door, a tool box, and � a puzzle piece? Huh. I can't believe I went this long without even trying the door. What if it was already open???
Haha, yeah right.
a. The tool box
I've seen this picture. But �my picture looks exactly the same, what help is that?
Hang on, some of these sections in the toolbox picture change color. Hm.
Look closely at the picture in the inventory.
You know, when I squirted the paramecium with reagent it changed color �
Boom. Left to right, blue, green, yellow, red.
Put that in the toolbox, and I have a jigsaw!
Now I have a jigsaw, but my jigsaw has no power.
Oh, hey, a panel on the right opens.
Looks about right for a battery.
Really? You really needed me to tell you to put the battery in there?
b. The puzzle piece
Oh. Oh, I get it. Very funny.
That's a jigsaw puzzle piece
So obviously I use my jigsaw.
Four squares numbered one through four.
Oh, I recognize these little folks.
The germs. Lucky I killed the green ones or that might have confused me.
Blue, yellow, pink, orange.
c. The door
It's open! Get the heck out of there before you're forced to learn more science!
