STOP. Look at that other gaming website. Now back to me. Back at the other gaming website. Now back to me. Unfortunately, that other gaming website is NOT Jay is Games, and no matter what body wash they use, they will never smell like us. Look down. Back up! Where are you? You're at Link Dump Friday on the site those other gaming websites wish they smelled like. What's in your hand? Back at me! I have it; it's a walkthrough for that one level you won't admit you've been stuck on for three weeks. Look again; the walkthrough is now a review for that genre you love so you can spend a few more blissful moments ignoring the day's obligations while we flood your mighty brain with entertainment. Anything is possible when you visit Jay is Games.
We're on a horse.
- PixEvo - The Fountain - Do you ever feel nostalgic for the old days? Not just the days of retro graphics, but the days when you were a tiny, featureless square and had to painstakingly hop your way around, devoring enough little pixels so you could evolve from stage to stage? Ah. Memories. Now you can relive the good ol' days in this puzzle-platformer from EvilDog, where you try to return to your full glory as a hero to restore a very important fountain. It's fairly slow paced, and movement early on can be frustratingly awkward, but fans of old-school beep-boop style visuals will find a lot to like here.
- Moovlin PC - [Parental Warning: Contains profanity.] This incredibly ambitious platformer from FlashPacked Studios was created over the course of two years and has a lot of levels where you play as a little red robot. There's a lot of love in it, with it's voice acting, soundtrack, and cutscenes, but unfortunately the gameplay itself is a little bland. It's worth checking out for the sheer scope, and hopefully the developer will have more projects in the future. Also because you can never go wrong with robots; that is totally my opinion and in no way an attempt to gain favour with any mechanical overlords there may or may not be in our future.
- Noggins - [Please note that this game may be difficult for those with colour-blindness.] The idea behind this fast-paced puzzle game is that as you move your cursor, the lines on the screen cross and change colour; the goal is to match your colour with the face on screen and click before time runs out. You get extra points if the size of the box the lines make is close to the size of the face. It's one of those games that is so simple, yet so frustrating the more you play it, sort of like having to answer simple questions during the lightning round of a gameshow; you wind up fumbling more and more as time ticks away. It's cute and different, if a little repetitive.
- Rat Ranger - In a perfect world, Minoto and I are Best Friends Forever, and every morning I have a new crazy point-and-click to play. Is that coin actually a roach? Did that panda seriously just eat that rat-filled cake? Who knows! I've long since stopped trying to understand how Minoto's wonderful brain works, and have learned to just lie back and let it all wash over me like a fever dream.
- Beat Bot - Build a robot and watch it dance! It's one of life's little pleasures, but nobody really has time anymore to learn all the fancy skills required to make a robot lift its head, nevermind the trials required to teach one to get down. This simple little webtoy just offers you multiple ways to customise a robot and then watch it dance; not the most elaborate gadget out there, but I defy you to name me any one situation in life that would not be improved by funky music and robotic gyrations. Yes, for one shining moment, you too can do what Grant Imahara probably does on his days off.
Wow, this review is just amazing. The beginning was HI-LArious!
To Jay Is Games, before, looking for certain games for me (like point-and-click, platformers and art games) was difficult, I'm glad I now go to this website, the reviews make the games understandable before play, commentaries are fun and a lot more I can't find at other sites. I'm glad that this blog still stands today, thanks Jay Is Games and the other users too.
[D'AWWWW. Thanks so much! We have a fantastic team of reviewers and a really exceptional community, too. And every day I think to myself how very fortunate we are! Group hug! >:D< -Jay]
THIS COMMENT IS NOW DIAMONDS.
OK, I got one ending for Rat Ranger, but I'm not sure how to get anything else.
I got the Rat Ending - put the salmon roe on the panda's sushi.
I have no idea what the Turnip is used for, or why the Box Cutter is still in my inventory - I assume that items disappear after I have no more use for them?
Oh, silly me - I didn't notice the line on the ending screen: "only one method". So that's the only ending there is.
This link dump Friday is %80-100 awesome!
I say 80-100 because I'm not certain about %20 of it, the 15mb of Moovlin PC is too much for my dial up to want to wade through for a link dump game, but the other four are are most certainly chock full of awesome!
PixEvo has a ton of crazy close jumps, but is still fun.
Beat Bot is... umm.... well, unique, anyways. Note to all: if you play at work, make sure your sound is off/you have headphones on BEFORE you click "dance" in beatbot! Otherwise you will get a rave-party induced thwack over the head by the manager! :P
Best intro EVER! Especially the horse :)
Oh, Minoto, your item descriptions never fail to amuse! "Zipper of legend," indeed. ^__^
As soon as I clicked on the coin I knew I had to see more of this Minoto fellow's stuff. Bizarrrrrrre!
In PixEvo, I have 31/32. I'm not sure what to try for next - there's a promising-looking dot up on a ledge in the northwest of the area I've explored, but when I jump for it I hit my head on the ceiling.
Can I rate the actual review 5/5?
Brilliant review!
Ah, it is that one, I just had to jump from even farther out.
But now I have 63/64 and everything I can see is locked behind walls. Save me, power of the post!
It was in the upper area, left side, up and to the right.
After that one, it's all easy going. Fun game.
I haven't even played the games yet, but I just wanted to say that this is perhaps the best Link Dump Friday ever.
In PixEvo, I got every upgrade. How do I find what I need to complete it? (Not sure if it counts as a a spoiler or not)
I found it.
Dora, you just made my day, EXCELLENT start of Link Dump Fridays :) :) :) Thumbs up :)
Beatbot is cool, but could use a Randomize feature. Also love the mythbusters reference
Ahhh....
I just LOVE the wonderful smell of JIG in the morning ^-^
Not only do i come here for the PERFECTLY organized games, the wonderful gameplay competitions, the fantamagicaltastic reviews,
walkthroughs
and INCREDIBLE selection of games, but ALSO for the magical way that Link Dump Fridays and Weekend downloads are always, I repeat Always, again ALWAYS, once more ALWAYS what I'm looking for! :D
Keep up the wonderfanterrifrikinawesuperockin' work guys! ^-^
This review is now DIAMONDS!
I love Jayisgames. The reviews are great and I much prefer to play my escape games here with a chance of a real walkthrough with no spoilers. But really, there is no way I am going to wait until next Wednesday to play a new Tesshi-e game.
Loved Noggins and PixEvo! Both fantastic games :D
PixEvo is great.
Most of the tricky times, the solution is to jump from the absolutely outmost pixel...
BuenoCabra and Jonno42,
THANK YOU! I was wondering where my diamonds were!
Dora, always love your writing, but this made me snort fluids out my nostrils. Thanks for another great Friday!
BEST INTRO EVER. Give Dora a raise! More more more!
Dora, you made my day! I admit I visit that *other* site on rare occasions, but only when I'm so desperate for an escape or point-and-click that I don't mind scraping the bottom of the barrel. (Just kidding, they're not all *that* bad, but they don't have the stellar reviewers that keep me coming back to JIG on an almost daily basis.)
I have often wondered what JIG does to attract and retain such talented writers/reviewers. My all-time favorite is GrinnyP (after all, she reviews the escape and point-and-clicks I love so much), but Dora, you are not far behind.
Thanks, JIG staff, for providing such great entertainment and challenging games.
Dora, I like you immensely, and hope sincerely that you don't take this personally...but can you play a video of that guy in those ads now? Please?
Oh my goodness, this is the best Link Dump Friday opener that has and will ever exist!
lol... ive seen that commercial before! im surprised no-one else said so, though. u guys are da best! physics! puzzles! action! funny reviews! you guys have it ALL! i might never forget this site, because my computer life was boring until i found you!
THIS COMMENT IS NOW DIAMONDS!!! XD
p.s. my captcha says epc76t... epc... epc... epic? win. lol
Routine of every day. I stagger out of bed. Put on the pot of coffee, walk to puter and click favorites, Jayisgames. Serious and true. Thanks ever :)
SWEET!!! This means that you have two tickets to that thing I love!! Pick me up next Friday... o.~
XD So whats up with that beginning?
What do you want to do?
>Read Dora's review
You gained 16+ Awesomeness!
You gained 31+ Happiness!
You went up a level in Happiness!
You obtained Euophoric Feeling!
On pixevo I'm stuck with 22 of the 64 pixels after getting the wings. I see plenty more pixels, behind closed doors that have no switches.
Ugh.
It looks like there's an up high platform towards the right center of the level but I can't for the life of me get up there.
@Username: to get to that platform, you have to
jump from the structure on the right, not one of the floating platforms. Hold left and up all the way and you should be able to make it.
Thanks for the post, btw, I was stuck at the exact same point and your comment triggered my "ah-ha" moment =)
@jingidy, been trying that for about 10 minutes now, long since before I posted, and the best I can manage is to get my legs next to the platform and not on it. It's driving me nuts.
But I'm sure now that I've posted a couple times it will magically happen.
Yup, that did it. Turns out posting was all I needed to do. My problem was that I was jumping again at the apex of my jump, all that double jumping I've done in other games trained me to do it that way. Turns out you just need to hold the arrow key the entire time and you'll go higher. Who knew?
PixEvo makes me want to cry :'(
I always look forward to link dump fridays just for the reviews. Truly excellent stuff, always making me smile :D
Swan dive!
I had the same trouble in pixevo - pressing the direction again to fly/double jump when you need the extra height you get from just holding it down in order to proceed.
Arrrrrrgh I have 63/64 dots and I've looked absolutely everywhere where is it WHERE IS IT
Noggins gets pretty easy when you realize
that you can treat the colors as if they're laid out in a 2x2 grid:
red | yellow
green | blue
Just imagine the grid overlaid on the screen and move the center of the crossed lines to the appropriate quadrant to change the color, and more towards the corners to expand the box.
Also, I bed Noggins can be done easily with JavaScript :)
That's so weird - just yesterday I was wondering what crazy ol' Minoto was up to, so I went and played Rat Ranger and a few other new games just before this post!
Did you know that Jay is Games is a bajillion times better than any other game review site on the internet?
Did you know i'm riding a horse... backwards?
Heyah!!!
@Username
Does posting really helps? I am stuck at the same place as you are. Foot touching the platform but not on the platform. Posting power grants me your help please. :D
Yay, posting really helps! I succeeded after less than 20 more tries!
PixEvo is a great idea. I didn't read the review or comments before clicking on the link (so great is my faith in Dora), and my heart actually leapt when my cube sprouted legs!
I just wanted to thank you guys for all your comments. It makes my day to know you enjoy coming to the site, and means I've bought myself another day before Jay decides to sell me to the Old Reviewer Glue Factory.
(He says it's a farm where we can play all day but I DON'T BELIEVE HIM.)
... That having been said, I wish the "sweet spot" was maybe a pixel wider. It's OK to have to line up a jump three or four times, but six or seven times is cruelty.
Rat Ranger is fantastic. More please! PixEvo is a really neat idea, but I think more interesting challenges can be made than pixel exact jumping where if you miss you fall all the way back down. That gets very old very fast.
Ooh, I just saw that ad for the first time yesterday. There was almost an unfortunate milk/nose event while I was reading the review.
how do i get the floating pixel underthe platform is that the 32nd one because i got 31 but thats the only one i see but for the life of me cant figure out to get
I wanna rage against Panda stomachs,
and publish 'zines, and pierce my wooden post to get the salmon to sprout. (It doesn't hurt it feels just like Minoto).
I wonder when Jay reviewed the first flash game?
Agghhhh! Can't find that last pixel in Pixevo! It is a pretty good game, though. Excellent review, by the way. :)
Beat Bot was a nice diversion :)
Would like to share my daggy creation.
I know how to use the 'a href' tags, but rather than post a long-winded link, does anyone know how you can rename a link within the 'a href' tags?
Oh, Dora. You are so delightfully insane. Thank you for the glorious new batch of games and hilarious intro.
I'm off to BeatBot.
Bye!
P.S. Congratulations, Dora, on your fabulously funny and expertly placed Mythbusters reference. It made my day. Thank you.
BEST. INTRO. EVER.
Dora, you are awesome. You made my day and made me literally laugh out loud. You get two tickets to that thing you love for that.
Swan dive!
Pixevo - Currently at 62/64 and giving up. I really like the game overall and want desperately to evolve to the next level. I don't even really mind having to attempt a jump 20 times to get it -- but what is driving me nuts is figuring out which jumps are even possible. It's really no fun to attempt a jump for eons just to realize that it CAN'T BE DONE.
Blargh. But great links - thanks!
Yes! Power of posting! I love JIG. It's magic.
Loved PixEvo.
It actually made me want a longer version, where not only your character levels up, but the graphics to as well: Level one would have pong-like graphics, updating through gaming history as you play until the final level has full 3d rendering with complex models. Obviously, it's a bit more ambitious than flash could handle, but it would be a fun project to see someone attempt.
Thanks for the tip on the last pixel (64) in PixEvo, Ezra. That was exactly where I found my last one. Fun game, wish there were more of it. Dug Rat Ranger, too, but I wonder if there are multiple endings. The bit at the end about "only one ending" could meant that my solution was only one ending of multiple possible solutions... Anyone get out with anything other than the rat ending?
I discovered jayisgames.com by a walkthrough on youtube for Rob Allen's banner game. Since then, jayisgames.com is on the top of my list of favorites and I check every single day what new games are up. All the staff at jayisgames have never ceased to amaze me with whatever they pull out of their hat, whether game, or introduction/analysis. Here is to you hardworking staff.

BEST. INTRO. EVER.
'nuff said.
oh my godness, i've ben looking for this review for over a week, just now when i was about to give up and checked a random link dump friday, I FOUND IT!! yaay! >w
Okay, how many of you just sat on the menu of Moovlin PC enjoying the music and trying to remember what movie it came from? The little chime at the beginning reminded me of Back to the Future.
