Link Dump Fridays

DoraWhat up, Friday friends? Whether you're kicking your weekend off now or are stuck sticking it out with the man until Saturday, Link Dump Friday is here to bring a little bit of electronic fun into your week. First I thought we'd hang out at this cabin, which totally doesn't have any unspeakable secrets in it or anything (when was the last time a cabin in the woods did you wrong?), then I figured we'd volunteer at this local clinic (even though I'm not too sure about some of those patients), and then... well, you'll see!

  • NineNine - Noah Berkley takes you on a trippy point-and-click styled interactive art tour, traipsing through rooms filled with darkness and snow, or light and music, or... well, it's all very strange. The isometric controls may take a little getting used to, and even if you're playing with the keyboard, you'll still need to click on some things to interact with them. It's lovely and weird and mystifying and weird and surreal and weird and did I mention weird?
  • WunderheilungWunderheilung - Still in development, Konstantin Kopka's wonderfully strange doctor simulation is all about looking beneath the surface of people to help them, only we mean that literally and not in any new-agey sort of way, since you have a magic magnifying glass that will let you spot ailments not visible to the naked eye. Ailments like someone having a hook for a hand. Which is a totally easy thing to miss. I had a hook for a hand one time for a week and didn't know it, which is why I'm not allowed to rent anymore bouncy houses.
  • The CabinThe Cabin - You just know when a game has an ominous two word title like that, things are going to be getting all grim and freaky, and Jacob Vincent and Nicholas Efthimiou's 7DFPS 2014 entry definitely fits the bill as you search around a dark cabin deep in the woods in the dead of night, trying to find a way to escape. Though things get a little, um, red at one point, The Cabin is more eerie than scary, so you don't need to worry about anything popping out at you and going SCREEEEEEEE. We're not making YouTube videos here.
  • What Have We Created?!What Have We Created?! - Made for Ludum Dare's "Unconventional Weapon" theme and still in development, Ranmara wants you to get all it's aliiiiiiiiiive and have someone improperly name a monster after you by creating a huge monster from scratch and setting it loose on the unsuspecting populace, which is basically an accurate simulation of what I want to happen whenever I think about all the perfectly good food out there being ruined by cilantro.

Please note that Nine actually forces you to use the arrow keys.

PSA: "What Have We Created" requires Unity.

I really liked Nine, it reminded me of Windosill! I love those kinds of weird, interactive games, there doesn't seem to be many of that about right now. Little clunky with the controls, would have liked for the game to have been bigger (I don't know if that's because of my screen resolution, but it was hard to see some of the details), and it's possible to finish the game without exploring everything (so make sure you try again if you do!). But I loved it!

So in WHWC I created this thing. It got lucky and destroyed all the shooters in the first couple of minutes, so now it's just stomping around trying to destroy buildings that are just a liittle too low for its claws and spewing fireballs in random directions. I think I won :P

Update: It's been bouncing around for like 40 minutes now and only destroyed 3 buildings since I took the screenshot. I think I've done about as much as I can here.

I love the obscurity in this set.

I like the last one with the creature, but my favorite is a toss up between the first two. The first is great, but the second is so original. I am going to keep an eye out for both those artists.
