Medieval Cop 8 - Deathwish - Part II
In the previous part of this episode, our slightly sadistic hero Dregg Moriss found out that he was, well, dead. And not only that, but he was stuck between a melted rock and a very hot place - it turns out he has gone to hell. However, Dregg is not happy to resign himself to this conclusion, and demands a way out. He was consequently awarded a Court Case, a type of trial, set up by the Devil, but before they can really get going, they were rudely interrupted.
Fresh out of one hell, though, Dregg finds himself smack in the center of another. His coworkers appear to be staring blankly into space at the beach, amusing themselves with sandcastles and the like, rather than working. What's more, any attempts at communication by Dregg end in complete and utter failure. It doesn't take long for him to figure out this is mind control, and his sidekick dog eventually remembers that Draziel is the responsible party for these actions.
At the least possible moment, a reluctant Dregg intercepts three of his coworkers from throwing themselves off a high ledge. He does not do so physically but through his Dimensional Debate technique that the Devil has re-loaned him for use. Each of these coworkers are locked in a dream, regret, or wish. The only way to snap them out of it is to shatter to illusion and convince the person in question that the dream/visualization is not, in fact reality. This proves to be a difficult and more complex task, though, as one man's fantasy can be another man's reality.
Sure enough, it's not always a straightforward task. In order to even get to the person in question, you'll need to clear obstacles in a manner unique to their philosophy and manner of thinking. This sort of outside-the-box reasoning will be critical to your success...or lack thereof. Can you help Dregg ultimately snap his colleagues out of what is cruelly binding them in the world of their imagination? There is only one way to find out...
As per usual, [WASD] or clicking with the mouse can be used to navigate through the puzzles, although mouse navigation is the superior option. Left click or [Enter] confirms a selected option, and right clicking brings up the pause menu where you can save your game or edit other options. If you end up playing through more than once, or need to repeat some parts and do not wish to scroll through all the text repeatedly, you can use [Pg dn] to scroll quickly through the text. It should be noted that using keyboard controls or a touchpad mouse greatly increases the difficulty of the game in some parts. Therefore, it is highly recommended to have a proper mouse when playing to save quite a bit of frustration. There are also several timed events and two levels of difficulty. On hard mode it does not give much time to think and give the answers, so be wary of your choice of difficulty at the beginning. Only choose Hard Mode if you want a challenge!
