With power rumored to be as great as the Dreamcast, iPhone games are slowly beginning to stretch their legs and show what the platform can do. Grokion is a great example of this, piling detailed 3D rendered visuals into a 2D game that looks and plays great.
Miner Disturbance - Adding itself to the growing array of treasure digging games on the iPhone, Miner Disturbance borrows a few ideas from the Motherload/I Dig It crowd and ventures out a bit on its own. Move your little mining buddy left and right using the virtual analog stick, and use the other buttons to dig in any direction and jump. Enter levels from the overworld map and complete the listed goals (mine an amount of silver, dig to a certain depth, etc.) to earn lots of cash that can be spent on upgrades in the store. Enemies, water physics, and the ability to create steps by pecking at overhanging dirt makes the game a unique entry in the digging crowd.
Grokion - An ambitious platform adventure game that will remind you of Metroid in more ways than one. You are LDU-1, a lunar defense unit who happens to be the last of your kind. Your mission is to find your creator Dr. Savain and restore order to the biosphere before the exiled ones arrive. To do this, you'll explore twisty, interconnected passageways, upgrade weapons and equipment, and deal with a variety of foes. The visuals are strikingly detailed and add a lot of depth to this sidescroller.
Warehouse 51 - Warehouse 51 starts off as a simple box pushing puzzle game, but things quickly evolve into something much more complex and interesting. You've been hired at a super-secret government facility to move crates of classified items to special containment areas. Your well-worn military surplus bulldozer can push crates but not pull them, and not all crates act as you think they should. The minute you see alien crates you know you're in for a good time.
The Package - For an Incredible Machine-like physics game, The Package requires a lot of patience, trial and error, and precision. Your goal is to move the box to the exit in each stage. To do this, you'll place a variety of fans, conveyor belts, ramps and other contraptions to alter its speed and direction. You never have quite as much control over the box's movement as you like and levels are long and quite complex, which is where the challenge comes from.

Hello,
I think it's Motherload (https://jayisgames.com/archives/2004/10/motherload.php) instead "Motherlode", am I right? :)
Thanks,
Lucas
Is Warehouse 51 playing off of the idea behind Warehouse 13 (the TV show)? :P
Apple has renamed the OS the iPhones, iPod Touches, and iPads use to iOS, so you could probably just use that instead of listing all the individual devices.
Have you guys not posted Hector: Badge of Courage up here yet because of the graphic content in the game? It's an impressive Point 'n Click series with a great interface that I would consider the best original point and click game created for the Iphone yet.
Cheers!
V2Blast: That was the first thing I thought, too! :-D The video game child of Warehouse 13 and Area 51.
bumoftheums: You mean Hector: Badge of Carnage? Yeah, I'm hesitant to feature that one for fear of the content. It's really well-done, though.
What's the deal with the URL redirect? It'd be great if you tell us up front what platform the games run on, but we could at least tell if we were dealing with iPhone apps or not if we could see the iTunes URL. Please do at least one or the other! Not all of us have iPhones. Android is blowing up, big time.
[We tell you upfront the platform right in the review header for all our game reviews. We've covered a bunch of Android games before, and we'll do so again in the future. Android may be picking up steam, but there's still way more games to cover for iOS devices. -Jay]
The game is so good I can't remember the actual title. ;)
Yes. Understood. But, also always finding it humorous how accepting we are as a society with gratuitous violence.... (such as the most recently posted gnome slaughtering video game) compared to how we are with games that reference sexual content. Strange what we shield and what we expose.
Cheers!
@Jay - Thanks for the reply. Also, color me embarrassed. I totally forgot about the tags.
Sorry! :(
Warehouse 51 is a great sokoban game... but I find it a bit irritating that, after buying the game and playing through the first 30 levels (+8 tutorial levels), they want me to pay again to get the next 30. And pay yet again if I want the level editor.
