Hungry for a great-looking adventure/puzzle game? Mortimer Beckett and the Time Paradox is your greasy bag of delicious potato chips. Which... is a good thing! A follow-up to the original Mortimer Beckett and the Secrets of Spooky Manor, this installment features a wonderfully imaginative visual presentation that fits snugly on top of a puzzle-centric hidden object/adventure body.
A time portal in Mortimer's uncle's house has opened, allowing modern-day objects to pass through to locations across the globe and throughout history. As the wide-eyed hero, it's your job to travel back and gather the items to set things right. Making matters more difficult, items that passed through the portals have been split into pieces, so instead of hunting for whole objects, you have to find shards and piece them together. Uncle Jerome's Time Bomb was also lost to the portals, so you'll need to find and assemble those pieces so you can close the portals once and for all.
The game is divided into areas that are situated on a series of small rendered maps. Within each time period you can travel between these scenes, solving puzzles and collecting items as you go along. There are eight settings in all, ranging from the "ordinary" (a pub filled with vikings) to the strange (Big Ben in the Nile River?!). The overworld maps lets you see at a glance how many items are left to find and how many puzzles still need to be solved. Once you complete them all, you'll gain access to the portal and move on to a new area.
The puzzles are what make Mortimer Beckett and the Time Paradox so interesting to play. Certain hotspots in each scene make the cursor turn into a set of moving gears, alerting you that one of the items you piece together fits here. For example, in the first area you'll eventually put together a group of pigs which, naturally, fits with the lone pig standing in one of the scenes. Not every puzzle is this logical, but because each item only works with one puzzle, you won't have a rough time completing them all.
Analysis: Cheery, whimsical, and a bit campy from time to time. Mortimer Beckett and the Time Paradox is a light-hearted adventure game that doesn't take itself too seriously. The hidden object aspect is watered-down enough so anyone will enjoy it, and the puzzles are just tough enough to make you think for a second. Couple that with no time clock and no penalty for mis-clicks and you have the makings of a "kick back and relax" casual adventure game.
On the less cheery side, Mortimer Beckett and the Time Paradox often defaults to blind luck when it comes to finding items. Locating full objects would be challenging enough on its own, but when you don't even know the shape of what you're seeking, it becomes a frustrating matter of pixel scrutinizing. Looking for a piece of the wood pile in your inventory? Scan for brownish things. Half the time those brownish things are mostly concealed by other scenery, which leads to even more frustration. Fortunately the in-game hint system is unlimited and refills in just a few seconds, so you'll probably be using it every time it becomes available.
Despite missing the mark on how to hide objects. Mortimer Beckett and the Time Paradox delivers a great casual puzzle adventure experience.

In General:
The walkthrough shows the shortest way through the game, but that does not mean, that you have to follow it exactly. You can choose on your map, where you want to go. Just be aware, that some things can only be found or done, when you solve puzzles or found items in other locations
The position of the item parts are random, so they cant be shown in the screenshots
The hint is reloading pretty fast, so you wont have to wait long, when you really can't find one of the parts
All codes, numbers, word games, puzzles ... are random. Screenshots of them can only be used as an example
It is possible, that you will have items earlier or later than described in the walkthrough. But this is only for items you have to replace. Puzzle items will always show up at the same time

Look for the parts for your list
You wont find all, so click at the ship, you see in the back. Its another scene for the same list
Click the shield at the right side, its a puzzle
You see several rings, you can turn. You have to restore the picture
The inner circle does not move, so you can take this as point to start
The picture is random
When it's done, the middle of the shield does open and you can take out the last piece of the stone
Go to the tavern

Kick the cat in the left down corner with the shoe from your inventory - you will get a part of the wood
Give the tray to the landlord, in back right side, the one who is reaching out with his hand

Click the fire wood at the fire place in front of the Cave

Wait till the Frost Giant is melted
Now you can enter the cave to look there for parts for your list

When you found everything, go back to the village

Now click the flag at the roof
You have to solve a few little maths problems (also random). What ever your results will be, it will be copied in your book

When you did everything right, you will see a place, you haven't been yet. A bird lets fall down something
Click the feathers from your inventory at the viking's helm, where they are obviously missing
The place is completely done now.

The jar belongs in to the others in the right upper corner
Click the knot at the ripped rope in the left upper corner
Click the cat head on the last cat body at the right side
After a short moment, the eyes of all cats start to glow and in the middle of the scene appears a female warrior
She is missing some and will award you, when you bring it back to her
Give here the sword and the shield from your inventory
She will give you a part of the time machine
Everything is done here, go back to the village

Click the cabinet in the back and a mini-game will open. Goal is it to arrange the figures in the right order. Which one this is, depends on the story you found at the lamp post in front of the Bastille (its copied in your book)
To switch the pieces around, place your cursor at the bottom and you will see some arrows going round and round. The direction of the arrows show you which two pieces will be swapped
I know at least three different stories, but there might be more.
Here is the solution for "Tale of a Toy Soldier": From left to right the correct position of the figurines is: Horse, Lion, Soldier, Lady, General and Flowers.
Here are the solutions for "Tale of a White King":From left to right the correct position of the chess pieces is: White King, White Knight, White Queen, White Pawn, Black Knight and Black Castle
Here are the solutions for "Tale of a Poor little Girl":Little Girl, Lighthouse, Cat, Statue, Chef and Bird
Once the figurines are in the right position, a small cabinet will open and you see a lock hole, place the key from your inventory in it and a secret chamber will open
Go down the stairs and look for the two pieces of the crown
After you found them go back to the shop

This location is complete now, choose the Chateau on the map

For example: Claude - Brother of Pascal - so Pascal has to be the second child of Andre and Adele / Julie - Daughter of Claude - Julie has to be in the direct row above Claude

Open your book and read the code of the smoke signals
"First", "Second", "Third", "Fourth" and "Fifth" are meaning the numbers below the dynamite, the second numbers on the row above
So if there is standing for example: The first is the fourth, than you have to look where to find the roman one (I) and swap now the dynamite, so that number 4 will be at this place
Click on two numbers and they will swap places
I know about three different solutions, but there might be more
All ways seen from left to right, the correct order of the dynamite is:
1, 3, 4, 2, 5 OR
3, 5, 2, 1, 4 OR

The wall will explode and reveal your time portal
Go to the chief to receive your award (a part of the time machine) and leave the time period through the portal

You first have to solve the puzzle. Its kind of slide puzzle and the robot parts have to be placed at the corresponding robot heads
When you cant get it or don't like it, you can skip that puzzle with the skip button with out any negative consequences

You will see, that the scientist will give you the last part of a panel and he tells you, that you now have access to the space shuttle

A puzzle opens, its your goal to let all colored stones disappear
To do so, you have to arrange the rocks from largest to smallest starting from the top. If you look on the right side of the wall, you will see the way the stones are supposed to be placed
Click the arrows that are on all four sides of the board. They will help you to move the stones around and position them in place
The arrows will move the stones in that row or column in the direction that the arrows are pointing to
The top row of stones do not move, you have to place the largest stone of that color underneath each matching stone in that row
You can (and should do) that one by one, means: one row after the other, not two or more rows at the same time. That makes it quite easy
Once you're done with the puzzle, you freed Excalibur from the stone
Now look for pieces from your list

Go to see King Arthur, he will tell you, that now, that he has his sword back, you can free his knights, but only Merlin can help you with that

Take the bottle which is saying:"Revealing Potion" and click it at the tree
Enter the tree and click with the magnifying glass at the books on the chair. It will tell you which flower needs which potion. I'm pretty sure, that this is not random, as I had always the same:
The yellow one needs "Fire potion" (Camelot, backyard)
The blue one needs "Sea potion" (Forrest)
The black one needs "Night potion" (Glade)
Place the hat on the head model left next to the chair
Use the oven mitt to push the cauldron to the side, you will find a part there, you are looking for
When you found all, go back to Camelot

Click the key on the little box left under the time portal
The box opens and you will find the last piece of the bottle
The quiver belongs right at the bow

Place the valve at the water pipes, right side. The water stops running and you will get the last part of the flower

Place the yellow flower at the wooden sign in front of the stone statue and click the bottle, that says fire potion on it also
You see the knight coming back to live. You have done everything here, go now to Glade

With the crowbar click at the big stone, left to the tree on the right side of the scene
You will find the last part of the flower
Click the black flower at the wooden sign at the bottom of the stone statue and click then the bottle, which says "Night potion" on it

Place the flower in the big bowl in the middle. You will receive the last part of the sleeping flower
Go to the Underwater world

Click the round stone at the statue in the lower left corner
Give the sleeping flower to the octopus
Now, that he is asleep, you can click behind him to reach the temple
Click at Poseidon. He lost the relief for Zeus. It should be somewhere in the atelier
