mummies-escape

Lori.hWho knew that curing a mummy curse would be to simply nudge them back into their sarcophagus? Tom Jones did of course! Mummies Escape (also available free for iOS!) is a physics game where you play Tom Jones, one of the greatest explores who was only just a head, as well as his rag tag group of friends to help undo the curse you released. Dodge blow darts, spikes, and more to collect the jewels before pushing the mummies back into eternal rest.

It's pretty clear this game was made for an iOS platform, but it still works just as well in a browser. You click to drop the characters to have them roll or bounce just where you need them too. Some levels are not a challenge, unless you're going for all the gems and stars, while others will take a lot of planning and skill. The different types of er, heads, stick to the basics of most physics puzzles; There is the one that bounces, the heavy one, and the one that doesn't roll. However, the vanishing gems or the jumping mummies bring some uniqueness into the game. Most of the levels come down to timing and the fact that none of your units can die-- even if you have extra, will make you have every move planned out to the last bounce. Be careful not to have Indiana, er I mean, Tom Jones get into the sarcophagus before the mummy does, or there will be no room and you'll have to restart the level. Mummies Escape has twenty-nine levels (thirty if you count the last bonus which is just for points) and is going to leave you wanting more. I was sad to see there wasn't any Marion or Willie characters to carry on the spoof, but perhaps we'll just have to wait for the sequel.

Not bad if you don't mind some bizarro physics and some really unforgiving timing puzzles.

Its an allright game.

Sadly Its not a 5/5 game for me.

As the aformentioned 'unforgiving timing' make it a little impossible for me to complete this game. I'm a completionist in games like this, and finding puzzles where you physically cannot get EVERY jewel, and is forced to leave some, makes my hair curl in frustation.

The quirky physics, that also poses a bit of fun, but a major sense. For example, the level you have to drop 3 johnny's and 'ricochet' them into the mummy's. I can't remember which level exactly. I dropped a ball, it hit the platform and bounced, smacking the mummy perfectly. At which point it rocked towards the goal a pixel and then rolled in the completely wrong direction, causing me to restart the level for the Umpteenth time.

A bit better pixel management on jewels to make sure they all line up (aka I think its one of the first levels you get the fat boys, where the 3 jewels and the 4 or 5 under the piece of wood dont line upperfectly), and smoothing out some of the timing issues, would go far for making this game better.

I eventually gave up on the level with the two 'shock' doors, because for the life of me, I cannot get all 3 stars, and make it past that electrocution gate thing.

This game is literally too tall for my screen. I can't size it down or the edges get cropped. This makes the game almost impossible to play properly. It seems like a basic physics puzzler, anyway, so I'd rather play one that will fit on my screen.
