Myosotis Chapter 4

DoraIt began with a letter, when PI Rick follows a letter from a woman he hasn't seen in years asking him to come to a hotel, and quickly took a turn for the surreal in the Myosotis games from Alice is Dead developer Mike Morin. Now, over a year after the all-too-brief third installment, the tale continues in the mystery driven point-and-click adventure game Myosotis Chapter 4. Since it explains very little about the previous installments, don't expect to understand it if you haven't played the rest of the series. As it opens, we find Rick at a familiar place in a familiar struggle. It seems like he's right back to where it all began, when it all began, and this might be his last chance. To play, just click to move and interact. As before, Rick must make his way through a series of cryptic rooms and locked doors, figuring out puzzles to open each one.

Myosotis Chapter 4Like its predecessors, Myosotis Chapter 4 is eclectic in tone and puzzles, relying on interpretation of a clue to open each lock rather than any typical point-and-click adventure MacGuyvering. There's very little instruction, so in some cases figuring out what the goal of each puzzle is, is, well, part of the puzzle itself. At the same time, however, there are times when the game's rigid demand for the correct solution to be stated in exactly one specific way can trip you up, making you think you're going at things the wrong way when you aren't. Like the rest of the series, Chapter 4 is stylish and intriguing, but also like the other games, it's far too short, and ends with a "to be concluded" at the end of its brief trip that doesn't really provide much in the way of significant plot development or exposition. It won't quite fill up a coffee break, but Myosotis Chapter 4 is still an appealingly weird and just-tricky-enough game that brings fans one step closer to a resolution... whether it's going to be a happy one is anyone's guess, but things aren't boding well for our hero...

Myosotis Chapter 4 Walkthrough

In the beginning, just click on the left side of the screen to continue.

Puzzle 1 (NEIN AUSWEG):

Click on the machine in the middle of the room. Determine which color represents which number, and push the buttons to form it.

8 = yellow + yellow, which means yellow is 4.
6 = yellow + red, which means red is 2.
11 = yellow + blue, which means blue is 7.
Red + blue is then equal to 9.

Solution:

OOO
O_O
OOO
__O
OOO

(O = Purple, _ = Black)

Puzzle 2 (CAN YOU SEE SEE THE CLOSED DOOR):

Click on the paintings in the middle of the screen. You can change the way the paintings face with the buttons, and the face of the person on it by clicking on the painting itself.

The words are anagrams, and the way they move indicates which way the painting shall face.

The first one means BLIN (BLIND), and moves downwards, which means the left painting shall be upside down, and the woman shall have closed eyes.

The second one means OPEN, and moves upwards, which means the middle painting shall hang normal, and have open eyes.

The third one means GONE, and moves downwards, which means the right painting shall be upside down, and the face blurred out.

Puzzle 3 (WHAT IS/15 THE SOLUTION, RICK?)

Click on the numbers so each row, column and diagonal is 15 when summed up.
(Magic square)

The solution is:

4 3 8

9 5 1

2 7 6

Puzzle 4 (WHAT I5 THE SOLUTION, RICK?)

Click the machine in the middle of the room.

Turn the green pieces so that they form a 5 in seven moves.

The first time you have to click them randomly to get out of moves, but the second time you shall click the upper one twice, the upper left once, and the lower right until youre finished.

Puzzle 5 (THIS ROOM REALLY SUITS YOU)

Click the machine in the middle of the room.

Observe the playing cards to the left to see a pattern:
The right card has the sum of the two left cards, a diamond if its uneven and a heart if its even.

3 + 3 = 6, which is even.
2 + 2 = 4, which is even.
6 + 3 = 9, which is uneven.

Solution:

6 heart

4 heart

9 diamond

Maybe I have a sixth sense, but I literally just felt like playing this kind of game today - and specifically had Myosotis in mind! Yay!

What was that cliffhanger D: I need to replay the earlier episodes as well I think. Yes. That's a wonderful idea.

I was originally intrigued by the series, by episode 4 really annoyed me, I'm sorry.

Just the tiniest playthrough ever, and it's not just the face that nothing was answered, but I feel like nothing at all happened.
I might sit out the next game if it's going to be this way. There was no interest here.

@Solatoral: Nothing happened? I beg to differ.

Lily is now the Flying Spaghetti Monster's nightmare cousin because of that stupid box. Not only has the box released countless Ricks, but it seems to have converged many Lilys into a single entity, and a horrific one at that.

I hardly think that counts as nothing.
