Notebook Space Wars
Just like in boring math classes back in primary school, drawing little spaceships and having them destroy one another for your amusement is still as fun as ever. Look at Notebook Space Wars: it's an awesome vertical scrolling shooter which will delight your inner fourth grader. The mission is clear: destroy all enemy spacecraft and become the most powerful ship in the universe. Use the mouse or the keyboard to move, [F] to autofire and [E] to drop bombs. If you've played Notebook Wars 3, the interface will be instantly familiar. The levels are presented on a map and award one to three stars (depending on the number of destroyed enemies), there are three difficulty modes to choose from and a hangar for all your upgrades and mods.
The first noticeable difference is in the graphics – even though the trademark notebook-doodle style is evident, it's much smoother and more detailed. In fact, everything about this Space edition is amplified: the upgrades are plentiful, from a larger arsenal to more add-ons; there is a myriad of enemy spaceships, with their own behaviour and weapons. Your ship can level up four times, getting another slot for add-ons each time, which can be replaced or taken off. However, whenever you buy a new ship, you'll start from scratch, so change spacecraft with care. Even in normal difficulty, things can get pretty tough if you don't plan your strategy and upgrade regularly, so finding the right combination is of the essence (and it's fun to experiment). The sometimes frantic gameplay means you'll never have a bored moment, from catching power-ups to making sure you avoid enemy fire to bosses which can't wait to send you to oblivion. In a word, Notebook Space Wars is your perfect shoot-em-up pastime you'll always be glad to come back to.
It's a simple matter to get 3 stars on all but the last 3 stages on Hard with powered up Homing Missiles on a three or four slot ship. I think those three could be easily beaten on Frenetic with 3 stars as well. The two stages before the last can easily be 2 starred on Hard with that set-up. But the last stage on Hard seems nigh impossible. The Homing Missiles don't cut it and the meteor gun seems pathetic for the cost - perhaps it gets a great deal more impressive if you manage to level it up to max.
Whenever I close the game and come back, all my weapons are reset to level 1.
I'm curious if the add ons stack.
Best ship (4 shot) + fully upgraded meteor + 4 +15% dmg modules and even the last one is not too tough to get 3 stars on Hard.
Anyone else a little underwhelmed by the final boss? I don't think its much of a spoiler to say that:
Its pretty weak that it can be destroyed with a single bomb, even in "hard" mode.
