Operation Thunderbolt
The Australian government has issued this latest game for would-be pilots interested in joining the Australian Defence Force. Operation Thunderbolt is a Flash game consisting of mission based levels that have you flying an F/A 18 Hornet aircraft by using the mouse to guide the plane. You must keep the plane with the boundaries of the gates as you follow the lead aircraft. Missing 6 gates in a row will cause the lead plane to escape and end the mission. If you succeed, you will then have 10 seconds to get a missile lock on the enemy, by positioning the crosshairs with the mouse over the enemy for 2 seconds or more, then firing by pressing the mouse button.
And that's just the first level. It is not easy... I tried several times before I was even able to follow the lead for just a few moments. I suggest using the training facility first off to get your bearings with the controls.
The game is very well done, and requires a bit of serious attention to it if progress is to be made. So, you think you have what it takes to fly an F/A-18 Hornet?
Jay, i just saw your post about Samorost. http://www.rit.edu/~jhb4598/jblog/archives/000310.php3 It is amazing. I agree it is a little short, but it really streches what i thought was possible with flash.Tasty
This extremely cool, but my God you weren't kidding - it is one of the most frustrating things I have ever played.
About time a game was this challenging again, reminds me of the good old NES/SNES days. :-)
I'm glad you tried Samarost, Paul. It is definitely one of my favorites. =)
Carlo—at first I almost tossed it (Thunderbolt) because it was so hard. But then, like you, I remembered some of the more gratifying games I've played that were difficult to master, where repetition pays off. Therefore, it's surely not intended for the casual gamer. It would also be more challenging if the lead plane altered his course each time you played.
I would've tossed it if the plane randomly changed course each time. That's an "expert mode" or "hard difficulty" feature. :-)
This game made me so pissed. i tried millions of times and still cant follow the plane properly. someone save me
This game is one of the most frustrating games i think i'v ever played while some 'old skool' gamers may enjoy trawling through the same level time after time in a vain attempt to master it, the easier option is to scrap the entire first level!! lets get an updated version with less boring levels and a little more guns and glory
hi...what's the highest record of f18 game?
and could you tell me some tricks to reach 8000 points?!?!?!
beat it on my second try. :):)
You really should be able to skip the first level after you've beaten it. It's just plain annoying to have to keep going through that over and over.
hi
just try to follow the cursors and do with the mouse the same direction the squares are going and youll be fine.........
The very first training level, I follow the plane, pass thru the green boxes as much as i can, after a time they disappear and then all I can do is follow the plane - for minutes without anything happening. It's about as much fun as watching paint dry if you ask me. What am i doing wrong?
The link is dead. It takes me to a page saying "This page cannot be found" I love this site and come here everyday :)
