pileobubbles.gifJohnBPile O'Bubbles is a new action/puzzle game from the creator of Gravity Pods, Keith Peters of Wicked Pissah Games. It combines fast-reflex mouse clicking with a bit of thinking to create a game that's brain wrenching with a touch of old-school arcade style.

To play, simply click and hold the left mouse button over the green bubbles to make them expand. The goal is to push the pair of blue bubbles to the blue circle located somewhere on the screen. If you touch the red circles, you have to start over, and green bubbles can't touch anything that looks pointy or they'll pop. Some levels allow you to create a limited number of new bubbles you can drop and expand at any time. Simply click on a blank portion of the screen to send it falling.

Analysis: Pile O'Bubbles features 25 levels of devishly devious bubble puzzles, some of which are so taxing you might want to borrow someone else's brain to spare yourself the headache. Use your own quick clicking skills, however, as most of the levels require you to act twice as fast as you can think. It's an intruiging combination of concepts that creates a marvelously compelling game.

The simple visuals in Pile O'Bubbles serve their purpose well, but the contrast becomes a bit straining on the eyes after some time. Thicker lines could alleviate the problem and make it easier to sit in for the marathon sessions of bubble piling you'll find yourself caught up in. The water bubbling sound effects are a nice touch!

Pile O'Bubbles is a great puzzle game that successfully blends action gameplay with a little thoughtful puzzle solving.

Any tips on 25? I can get rid of that expanding red bubble, but I can't seem to build up a high enough tower to mount a run at the goal.

All in all though, a fantastic game! I didn't find it to be very reflex-heavy though... only on occasion when I was about to lose the blue bubbles. Normally I was able to carefully build up a stable bubble structure to guide the blue bubbles to the goal.

Stuck on Level 15, The joined blue Circles are inside the blue circle but it won't complete, am I supposed to do something else?

Fun game, I always like games with fluid/liquid dynamics and physics. I also like the level select feature. They definitely need to go back and add that to Gravity Pods!

I just want to say that I love this site. It's so much better and more organized than any other casual gaming site, and the quality of every game reviewed here is such that I know that I will be satisfied with every fleeting click.

With that said, another fun game, as long as I can get even more into later when I have more patience, and less frustration.

Thank you, Scramble, on behalf of everyone here. :)

It's great having you part of the JIG community as well. Your participation in the comments contributes to the thriving community here, which is as important as the games! :)

And I am really enjoying this game, too! I've found that brute force just doesn't work, and therefore it forces you to be more methodical in your approach to each level. Very nice, Keith! :)

this one could have one the upcoming competition, not?

This is a neat little game to pass the time with. It nice to see that there are people out there enjoying these games even if they are not easy to find for some.

I must admit that even though I'm not very fond of the game itself, I love the use of the pseudo-vector graphics. They remind me of golden-age arcade games (Tempest, etc.) and really add a lot to the experience.

I like the game, but i don't like that i accidentally popped my blue bubbles, and it didn't tell me i had failed the level.

I'm glad people like the games. And I appreciate the feedback. Goes towards making better games in the future. Yeah, I really considered entering this in the competition, but I felt I needed to get more content up on my own site sooner. I have another one in the works for the comp.

Am I the only one who can't seem to get a handle on the basic mechanics? I got stuck at L3.

Yeah, I don't really get it either.

Sigh, I can't even get past Level 2...

How do you do level 4 it just falls off the first green bubble and pops its annoying

What an amazingly creative game concept. It could have been used in one of the game competitions! Actually, ball physics...hmmm...

for the past 2 days i haven't been able to open this, is anyone else experiencing this problem? the game really looks interesting and i want to try it :(

I think it's a great game. Very unique and kept me coming back for more. I'm up to level 25 and I can see how to do it but am struggling a bit, but I'm sure I'll get there in the end.

At lvl 4 you can blow the bubble large, then when you see that the blue bubbles starts to fall off quickly start to blow a new bubble where it is heading. Then another one, until you have filled the "floor".

For some reason, I beat L25 on my first shot, stabilizing the blue doublebubble on a very large green bubble. Do note that I haven't been able to beat any other level after the first three though.
