If you've ever wondered where the three adorable cats who star in Choko-Chai's escape games come from, play the insanely cute The Three Bamboo Princesses and wonder no more, as it explains these beautiful kitty girls are in fact magical bamboo princesses, whose foster parents lock them up out of love to try to avoid losing their beloved cats. To help them escape, just click around to interact, keeping an eye out for certain twinkles and watching when your cursor changes if it passes over something you can click on. If you're really stuck, you might need to use one of the cats to help you... press the kitty icon in the lower-left corner while looking at what you're trying to interact with, and if she says "leave it to us", you can usually click a navigation arrow to back out of the current viewpoint to see the cats sitting in a row. Just click all three of them until you find the one who tells you she can help, then click on whatever you were trying to interact with before. It's a little clunky, to say the least, but it's also super cute, as we may have mentioned. The Three Bamboo Princesses may be a little rough around the edges, but Choko-Chai's puzzles and sweet stories are always a welcome delight, and there are a few clever conundrums to conquer here as well. With two endings to find, The Three Bamboo Princesses will cure what ails you, provided what ails you is a serious deficiency in royal fairytale cats solving puzzles through teamwork.
Ohhh I do love Choko-Chai escapes! I have to agree with the review that the mechanics are often clunky for these games, and this one isn't an exception. But the puzzles are great! The second ending is a bit sneaky, but I got it.
"Sneaky"... no kidding. I got both endings and I'm still not sure how I did it.
hey, it helps to read the review BEFORE you play . . . I was stuck for a bit until
I re-read that you could ask the kitties for help -- what a concept!
got the happy ending, now going back for the, erm, unhappy one?
normal end? check. knowing what I did to get the normal end? hmm.
the only things I did differently are
asked the cats for help immediately instead of clicking around all lost-like
put the weights on the scale balance without checking them first
didn't give the tower-o-cats the broom immediately (waited for them to ask for it)
set the marbles in one at a time as soon as they were found instead of doing all at once
and these don't seem to add up to much. Squiddly's right; sneaky indeed.
For the happy ending
Follow the directions on the paper exactly.
There are THREE steps that need to be done.
The third step involves a princess with two ribbons behind her hair.
Look closely at the princesses during the closing cut scene.
The princess dressed in purple is posed exactly the same as in the drawing on the paper.
If you click on the purple princess, you will receive a gift and get the happy ending. If you don't, you will get the normal ending.
Aarg !!!
Wooden Box
Have a key but it doesn't seem to open the wooden box.
Weight
Have a weight but don't know how to remove red stuff at the back. Tried the candle but that doesn't work.
For the wooden box,
you're probably using the wrong key! Have you tried checking elsewhere in places for something else that's locked?
OK - found out what the key was for and that sorted out the weight - so progress being made.
OK, clear.
@ Bobo The Bear
Thanks! I tried several times to get the happy ending, but to no avail. I can now be satisfied and done with this game
Utterly and horribly stuck. How do you ask for advice from the cats?
Tried using knife on marble in wall. Nope.
Can't see shining thing in closet. Annoying.
Got a "levels" clue I can't use anywhere & a word puzzle I've no clue for.
Have a weight, stepstool, broom, knife, pincers, red thing & blue thing (placed).
Helpful tip, just highlight the stool when you want to use it.
Google Account URL:
Click the cat in the lower left. (If nothing happens, try it somewhere else.)
To expand on @Google-account's tip about the step-stool:
It doesn't get placed anywhere. Just click on whatever you want to reach.
Beautiful looking game.
Ah... so now we know these are not cats, they are girls, just like Hello Kitty.
Thanks, Dora, this game is adorable! Especially the little phrase, "I did it!"
I'm stuck but need to get some sleep ... will check back later to see if there are more clues.
Stuck good and hard.
Have:
weight, 5 marbles (no yellow), step stool, and tool. Have used key, knife, broom, and pincers. No clue for letter lock, can't get scale to balance with the weight I have (flat gold on back), and nothing else looks like a puzzle to let me progress.
Aha, POP (and taking a break for lunch)!
looking forward to the walkthrough :)
There is NOTHING happy about either of those endings. :(
I can't figure out the letter code. I think
the paper with the circles and numbers
has something to do with it, but maybe I'm wrong?
@marshallangela88
Have you seen anything else where there are four items together?
Check the animals
Match the number of letters in the name against the circles
And in the same order
WILD BOAR
RABBIT
MOUSE
DRAGON
Very nice game as usual.
FYI the story is a remake of a classical japanese tale known in English as "Princess Kaguya" or "The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter" - look it up for more details
Thank you for that hint, I was stuck pretty badly.
What's a seder plate doing in a Japanese folk tale? And it's even still Passover!
