Whether you're rising and shining, or just shuffling around while making inarticulate grunting sounds, you know that the only way to start your Wednesday off right is with Weekday Escape... but I mean... if you want to hit a girl up with some waffles for breakfast, that's pretty cool too. This week! Amajeto celebrates the New Year with a handful of puzzles and a familiar aesthetic. Vitamin Hana locks you up but arms you with a pretty useful tool. And Esklavos strands you somewhere warm you'll need to build your way out of... if you can find everything to click on.
Jigsaw New Year - Amajeto, whose games have always stylistically been very Tomatea-sy, helps ring in 2016 with a room that has a snack-sized amount of puzzles, including one you'll need to assemble, and a chilly view that will make you appreciate (hopefully!) being somewhere warm inside. But, well, you know what they say about when the weather outside is frightful... Netflix and escape games?
Five Islands Escape - But hey, say you're sick of snow and you want something a little sunnier. Well, Esklavos has you covered... and by "has you covered", I of course mean, has you shipwrecked on a group of tiny tropical islands. You'll have to visit all of them to eventually escape, but first... you're gonna need a boat. If you get stuck, remember to try combining items in your inventory, and if all else fails... click everything!
It's Everything - A hallmark of most escape games is finding and using items in unconventional ways as tools, but Vitamin Hana is going to give you something pretty darned useful almost right away in this game... maybe to make up for that strange tendency to dump you behind towering walls like you're a fairytale princess? When you get the item in question, make sure you view it with "About Item" and click on its... attachments... when you want to cycle through its functions!
We love escape games, and our readers love talking about them and sharing hints! How about you? Let us know what you think, ask for clues, or help out other players in the comments below.
Five Islands Escape - Pour soda on blue flower(?) on mushroom island.
Ok, I've built the stupid boat but how do I move to different islands?
POP. Wow that was unintuitive.
Five Islands Escape - Use soldering iron on soda machine.
Jigsaw New Year - use stick (magic wand?) on picture above fireplace.
Spoiler tags please, people!
Stuck on the first island. Can't figure out how to
dig up whatever is buried in the sand near the signpost.
Still have the
fishing pole
, so I must still need it for something, but can't figure out what. I have:
hammer and nails, stick, fishing rod, bone, and crowbar.
Pay attention to the surroundings. Anything else seem out of place?
Like the fact that there are four signs on that post but only three clues provided when you click on it?
Crowbar that extra one off and see what you can do with it.
Once you figure that out you'll be in the "have boat, can't travel" problem I ran into so I'll give you that one for free.
Use the bone on the appropriate place on the map.
Five Islands - I'm stuck, I have
crystal, oar, fishing pole with magnet, and crowbar
Five Islands:
It is a rather fiddly game and was quite frustrating in places.
Regarding the mounds of earth:
You cannot dig them up until you get the shovel.
Regarding the map and travel:
You would think that the boat would allow you to move around. But you have to do another thing before you can travel.
That other thing is:
You have to put the matching item on to the map to unlock that particular island. Then you just click on the island on the map and you move there
As for the crowbar:
I wasn't trying everything and didn't consider using it on the barrels.
That is the only use of the crowbar as far as I can remember.
Regarding the green crystals you see on the rocks:
You will not be able to get them without a special tool.
As for the mushroom island with the bee:
It's not clear if the mushrooms are counted from left to right of right to left.
If you have the white...
crystal, it is given to a particular person. That is its only use.
As for the oar:
I ended up with one in inventory and one on the boat.
It's never used as far as I can tell.
For the stick ->
It is combined with other stuff at the start to make:
A fishing hook.
This fishing hook is used in water to retrieve something.
And then you can add an item to further modify your fishing pole.
The thing you add is...
The magnet.
The hook with magnet is used on the small patch of land with bubbles if I remember correctly.
One correction:
The hook with magnet is used in the same place as the plain fishing hook.
On the first island, in the water front right.
The patch of land with bubbles is actually a patch of land with magic, i.e. that's where you use the wand.
Thanks for the help Reka. I'm still missing a
green gem, I only have four out of five.
Oops, nevermind, I found it.
Stuck on 5 Islands. I've got
a fishing pole with a magnet, a crowbar, an oar, and the map
and have access to the first 4 islands. I still need to
do something with the soda machine,
dig up the sand piles on islands 1 and 4,
get a cup for the creepy-eyed guy on island 2,
get the gems (on islands 1, 2, and 4) for the octopus man on island 4,
get the blue flower to open on island 3,
use the 3rd code from the signpost on island 1 somewhere,
use the code from the parrot on island 2 somewhere,
and find the "alien" or whatever that gets me to island 5.
I've tried every item in my inventory on every seemingly clickable spot, and have gotten nowhere. Any advice?
POP!
the magnet-ified fishing pole got me a cup from in front of island 1; could have sworn I'd tried that already, but ah well
The bit for the Portal can be found...
on the soda machine on island 1 and is removed with the soldering iron
to use the pocket knife in It's Everything you have to only have out the tool you need
