Stuck in Dream Chronicles 2 and need a little push? Having trouble solving a puzzle in Azada and need a hint or two? Can't figure out why your villagers won't eat in Virtual Villagers 2? Casual games can cause not-so-casual problems, which is why the JIG community is always here to help. We're looking to add an extra layer of support by forming a casual gameplay help squad consisting of a few dedicated readers who can follow discussions on weekend download games and provide hints and support when necessary. It's a simple but fun job that requires you to play through games in their entirety and check in on the comments several times a day, providing feedback, hints and tips when necessary. And the best part is you get free casual games for your help!
Who we're looking for:- Enthusiastic casual gamers who love diving in to just about every game we feature.
- Players who complete the games they play.
- Someone who can check comments several times a day, throughout the week to provide feedback and support.
- Basic web searching skills.
- Someone reliable, responsible, and fun.
To apply: Send an e-mail to [email protected]. Include a short paragraph about yourself, your casual gaming habits, and any relevant writing experience you may have.
Good luck to everyone who applies, we're looking forward to the responses!
darn, i'd love to do this, but i can't complete a game to save my life :)
Meh. I'd do better as one of the LinkDumpFriday guys-- I usually dislike Big Fish Games and the other guys who provide things for Weekend Downloads. If you need help on PNC games/LDF games, I'm your woman, but not for Weekend Downloads :P
Yay! I applied. I've been waiting for a "job" offer at this site because I love it so much.
just curious: How many people are you looking for? And around what ages?
Elite Fencer, I'm not too crazy about Big Fish Games either, especially because of the way you have to start a game of theirs. But fortunately you can find most of their games mentioned from Link Dump Fridays and Weekend Downloads on Jay's own site:
http://casualgameplay.com/
You can also purchase the games from there, and they have no annoying installer or startup menu like Big Fish Games. I have bought a few games there myself.
And I am SO applying for this job! ^_^
As rkr7 posted, is there an age limit or something like that? Because I'm only 13, and I REALLY want to get this job.
I'll only do it for free games
Aww.. it's too bad so few of the weekend downloads are Linux-friendly *pouts*
Questions before I apply
1. I'm assuming this is a volunteer job without any renumeration, am I correct?
2. Are games that require being purchased to be purchased by us or are they supplied free?
I'm not too concerned with age as I'm 20 but I would need to have my questions answered before submitting an application for something I may not be able to do.
That's a good point, ggg.
We didn't mention this in the post above, but the ideal candidate(s) will have either a Windows computer or an Intel Mac capable of running any OS.
melak - We will supply you with the games we feature reviews for, but we're hoping someone will apply that already has many of the games we've already featured. We're not about to provide a whole library of games and expect someone to consume them all just to get started.
And there is potential for financial gain here, but that ultimately depends on the candidate(s) and the level of support provided.
im probably WWAAAAAYYY too young!:(
ELITE BEAT AGENTS!
Looks like fun! Application sent.
Do we get an e-mail back saying if we were accepted or not? It's been about three hours now...
Vault - It's not EBA. It's Osu! Takate! Ouendan! (or something to that effect)
Better soundtrack, IMO.
Yow: I think jay will probably wait a few days so more of the readers can submit an application before making any final decisions.
Oh man, writing was never my favorite subject... And sometimes I'm too busy to check posts several times a day.
So does that mean that the Intel Mac will have to have Parallel or Bootcamp?
A few months ago I would've been all over this. But then, in February, one of your link dumps introduced me to Kongregate, and for some reason I haven't had much idle time since.
Help Squad is GO! ...Uh, never mind.
The only problem that I have is that I've only tried a few weekend downloads, since I tend to be picky with the online games I play. It won't stop me from trying out, though.
I hope, those that are accepted as part of the team, will get cool uniforms like on that picture.
I'd be happy with just a monocle.
Since most of this could be done at home by your keyboard, you can get whatever outfit or distinctive hairstyle you want; or you could just say you have one of those, and who'll know to argue with you?
As nothing has happened for 2 weeks, either I haven't been accepted or Jay gave up about the Help Squad...
