Hello, JayisGames! If you're seeing this message, then congratulations! You've made the long and arduous trek with us to our new server. It's intended to provide a faster and more reliable experience for our writers in the database we use to create our articles, as well as to hopefully provide an even faster experience for you. The new server move began this morning, and for some people, it's finally complete, though some regions (even including my own!) will still see the old server for a while.
In the meantime, we want to reach out to you and make sure all our bits and baubles are intact. Please use this page to report any new problems you're experiencing with the site, from logging in to leaving comments, and include any information that might help us nail down a fix, from (roughly) where in the world you are, to what type of browser you're using, and so on. If you receive any sort of error message, please be specific as to what it said! We thank you for your patience and understanding and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience, and will be up and running with new games and reviews for you as soon as we can verify the lion's share of the issues are ironed out!
Posting to test the comments!
8 seconds for having the comment posted when it took for me up to 45 seconds with the old server. From this point, it's clearly better.
Let's see the other points like the loading of the pages :)
When I use the search function, the results page has PHP include errors. When I tried to post this comment first time around I got the following error: "Your comment submission failed for the following reasons:
Invalid request".
Lol @ Jeff, that's the first thing I wanted to test as well. So here goes... never understood why posting a comment should take more than 1 or 2 seconds anyhow. But hey...
Btw, from the Netherlands (using Chrome 32.0.1700.76 m) here, all working fine so far.
I just fixed the search function.
Thanks for spotting it, aidansean!
Welcome to your new home.
I'm still logged in from the other day. Does this mean it transferred, or have I not made the move yet?
If you're seeing this message, that means you're with us on the new server. :) Everything should have transferred over.
Trying a test post.
Hello all,
Please note that to be able to post comments, it's necessary to clear the cache of your browser(s). The new server has new scripts so it's very important to clear the old scripts from the old server.
For Firefox users:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-clear-firefox-cache
For Chrome:
http://www.oyah.net/howtoarticles/how-manually-clear-cache-history-and-cookies-google-chrome
For Safari:
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4448839?tstart=0
For IE/OPERA:
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/browsers/f/clear-cache.htm
If it helps anyone, I was able to get away with clearing ONLY the cache in Chrome (I didn't have to clear history, cookies, form data, etc). So if you're like me and have some browsing data you'd like to keep, try just clearing the cache on its own first. Should be okay.
Yes you're right Sessie, thanks.
Testing 1-2-3!
Tried posting yesterday 1/21 without success. Just read the post about clearing the cache, and have done that.
Aside from that, all else seems to be working fine.
I posted a few minutes ago on another thread, and got an error twice when I chose "preview" then "submit". The third time, I did not "preview" and it posted okay. Now I have cleared cache so let's see if I can "preview" this one, and then post.
Post test I guess. This should be exciting.
Not exciting but primordial for the persons who still encounter problems with posting comments.
Again, the solution is 'just' to clear the cache.
Not sure if this is a glitch (maybe it was always this way), but some of the reviewers' names are "clickable" to see only that reviewers' reviews, and others are not. For example: Dora, JohnB and elle = clickable. tricky and Kimberly = not clickable.
This is normal. Anyone with a Jayisgames profile can link a URL with their username. You'll see that some members of the JIG community have "clickable" names, too. Mine currently goes to my (very neglected) blog. I think I may change this to go to my reviews, since you put the idea in my head. ;)
