Yonashi Escape 12

Short and sweet definitely describes Yonashi's escape game Yonashi Escape 12, that sees you locked in a room with a bunch of rat tchotchkes and seemingly little else. Click around to navigate your (tiny!) prison, and use the information you can find to crack codes in order to get out. Blink and you'll miss it, but if what you've been wanting is a light, tasty snack of a game, Yonashi Escape 12 has you covered.

Walkthrough

In the first screen, notice that, in addition to the door and a box with screws on the wall, there are three puzzles. From left to right, here are the puzzles:

  • Three unlabeled buttons puzzle. It appears that there is a sequence involving left, center, and right.

  • Hat puzzle. It seems that we need to input a color for each body position.

  • A numerical puzzle. It looks like that a tile corresponds to a number or an operation, where the whole expression equals 256. Note that the BLUE tile can't be changed.

Go to the right/left to enter the second (and only other) screen. You'll notice there are mice in different body positions, colors, and shirt symbols. Hmm, sounds familiar...

To solve the three unlabeled buttons puzzle:

From the leftmost mouse to the rightmost, note the direction where the mouse is facing: left, center, or right. Input this sequence to the buttons. Get the remote control.

To solve the hat puzzle:

Click on the a mouse to zoom in. Click on the remote control to select it for use. Click on the mouse. It may or may not dance. Do this for all mice. Three of them will dance. Note the color of the mouse corresponding to each body position. Change the colors of the hats to match the proper mouse. Get the screwdriver.

To solve the numerical puzzle:

Remember that the blue tile can't be changed. The blue mouse's symbol is X. Hence, the numerical expression is: 256 = _ _ x _ . There are two possibilities:

  1. 256 = 64 * 4

  2. 256 = 32 * 8

There isn't a 6 symbol nor a 4 symbol in the mice's shirts, but there are 3, 2, and 8. Input the corresponding colors into the puzzle. Get the knife.

Click on the box with screws on the wall. Click on the screwdriver to select it for use. Click on one of the screws to reveal a mirror. The mirror has 5 color-coded 7-segment displays, where you can click on each segment of each display to activate it. Refer to the corresponding mice's shirts, and draw the symbol for each color.

What the--? It doesn't work! Note that "mirror" is written in the corner. What a helpful hint! Hence, modify each symbol to create the mirror image of the symbol. Press OK. Get the apple.

Click on the apple's magnifying glass to zoom it. Click on the knife to select it. Click on the apple. Get the key.

Click on the key to select it. Click on the door.

Pretty short and easy escape game. Good way to kill 5 minutes on a Friday.

I can't figure out the

hat code.
I've tried using items on them, picking the ones that are different, and neither works.

I have no ideas left on how it would work.

You need to use the

remote you get from the left-hand cabinet

on the rats.

Gave up because I couldn't get the remote to work on the rats no matter what view I tried.

To get the rats to dance:

While looking at the rats up close, highlight the remote in your inventory but don't pick it up. Click on the rats -- only three of them will move.

having a hard time with the game towards the end

I followed the shirts but it didn't work. then it said to mirror the images so it would work. I mirrored it and it spelled Apple. I click ok but still nothing happens. I have a snapshot of it so I can prove that's what it says. there still must be something I did wrong though.

anyone know how to fix it?

ok I figured it out.

I assumed it had to be spelled out in white. it needed to be spelled out in Black. It probably should be written that way in the walkthrough to avoid confusion.

other then that Tex, good job on the walkthrough :)

Well that was an ominous ending. At least... it was to me. From what I recall of the fairy tale (or, to be more specific, the more lighthearted of its many variations (some of which are rather... grim. Pun not intended)), the princess receiving the apple was not actually a good thing in the short term. In the long term, well yes... she gets the prince. And if we look at another famous story in which the giving of an apple takes prominence, the whole thing ended in a terrible war, Trojan horse, (spinning off into the Odyssey and all). I'm probably overthinking it. :) But it was a light tasty snack of a game :)
