Zombie Society Dead Detective vs Nine Deaths Cat
It's time for a new case in the land of Zombie Society, and this one promises to be a doozy! If you haven't heard of the series, this and similar episodes chronicle the adventures of Detective Margh and his insatiably hungry assistant, Ghvnn, as they solve cases in the strange zombie world in which they live. Or should I say, un-live?
Anyway, in this chapter, they have to solve a mystery involving the infamous Nine Deaths Cat. Who is that, you might find yourself asking? Well, only the greatest thief in all of zombie history! Nine Deaths Cat is so confident in her abilities that she thinks counting her chickens before they hatch is for chumps, and has taken the expression to a whole new level. She brags about a heist she has yet to pull off, even leaving a clue for our detective, taunting him and implying there is nothing he will be able to do to stop her.
Lu Muja notes that there were (to put it lightly) some complaints on earlier titles about the difficulty of the game being too low. Well, be careful what you wish for, fans, because this one is going to be more of a challenge indeed! Along with the characters already mentioned include a slightly paranoid introvert hiding in his house, a guard who you must separate from his job, and an art museum curator who feels his painting may be the next target of Nine Deaths Cat.
Before trying to pinpoint her current heist, Margh things it is a smart idea to see if there is some pattern to her previous crimes. As he does so, you'll notice a strange pattern when you find former victims and ask them for more details. I'll leave it to you to figure out more, but it's almost as if Nine Deaths Cat has a rich sense of irony and motivation for each particular heist.
Like previous games, the controls are pretty standard point-and-click. Hovering near the top of the game window will bring up your inventory and access to several useful tools. Your briefcase holds evidence and various notes you will collect during the case (along with all the essential items your zombie friend needs, like his hat), and the book icon tracks evidence and inferences you might draw from connection them in different ways (cleverly named dead-ductions). A magnifying glass can be clicked to identify all points of interaction in a given scene, eliminating the need for pixel hunting. There's also a map to navigate efficiently through the different locations, and a button to save your game (though it also features an auto-save).
Give this latest case a try and find out whether curiosity will kill the cat (metaphorically speaking, of course)...or if she might still evade the detective. There is more than one ending depending on your choices at the end of the game, so interpret your clues carefully!
It seems the picture links to another game in the series.
