Drop Wizard

Also available for iOS, Neutronized's Drop Wizard is a classic arcade-style action game with gorgeous graphics about a premise we can all get behind... cute wizards tumbling off ledges to turn cuddly, dazed enemies into fruit. Use [WASD] or the [arrow] keys to move left and right, and walk off an edge of a platform to fall to the next. The drop won't hurt you, and upon landing, your wizard will fire off a magical blast in the direction they're facing, which will temporarily stun enemies, allowing you to walk into them and boot them off the screen. Your wizard is otherwise defenseless and can only attack when falling, so avoid getting touched by foes, since a few hits and you'll need to restart the level! Each stage brings new enemies in, and while the browser version only has eighteen levels, the mobile version packs a whopping 60-plus, including boss battles, and a seeeecret game mode. Drop Wizard's simple concept harkens back to a coin-operated golden age, if such a thing can be said to exist, but its vibrant design and gameplay that can get surprisingly frantic makes it a great authentic old-school arcade game that brings a lot to the table.

This game won't load entirely on my computer. I'm using Firefox; I tried it with Chrome and it's even worse. On Firefox it gets to the loading screen and starts loading, but at some random point either stops or slows down so much that it looks like it's stopped. I left it for a few hours and it didn't load all the way. I don't know if it's a Firefox issue, computer issue, or a connectivity issue - my internet connection here is pretty slow.

Oh wow, so I'm assuming this came out before the mobile version did? The two are similar at best, but quite different.

If you like this browser game, DEFINITELY buy the mobile version if you can. It's a ton more polished, and the controls work a lot better for me in mobile than they do in the browser. There's also more music and a little bit of a storyline too.

If you don't like the browser version due to unsteady controls, mechanics or the fact that this looks unfinished or unpolished, still consider checking out the mobile version. As far as I know, it's only for iOS though.

It's kind of weird that you can see some of the game's assets outside the actual game screen. Like when my wizard drops, I can see part of his body at the top of the screen when he's at the bottom. That kinda throws me off a bit. The movement doesn't feel as fluid, but maybe that's because I'm not used to playing it in the browser.
