Letters 2
Hannu Pelkonen has updated his excellent Flash typing game that was previously reviewed here last year. Letters 2 includes everything that made the first version great, plus it adds power-ups and an expanded high scores table to the mix. The result is an even better game, one that can help you be more productive while at the same time having some fun.
Playing the game is easy and intuitive: simply type the letters on the keyboard that correspond to the letters that appear and scroll across the play field. Typing a correct letter will cause it to explode and all others like it, and your score will increase by one (1) point for each letter exploded. Typing an incorrect letter will reduce your score by five (5) points, thereby rewarding accuracy.
There are now three kinds of power-ups that can affect play: bombs, clocks, and stars. You must explode a letter near a power-up to invoke it. Bombs take out any letters near it, including any letters that run into its dissipating shock wave. Clocks slow all letter movement for a very short duration. Stars reward you with ten (10) bonus points.
The game is simple fun and yet there is a certain satisfaction in playing: knowing that the game is improving your touch-typing skills, thus making you an even more productive employee. Click.
I just love typing games and they are so hard to find! So, great job again Jay!
Gads, I love typing games. Your site rocks, Jay.
it's suprising how much harder it can be to touch type random letters in contrast to words. I really like the dynamic/live highscore list :)
Wow that was really hard. =p woo hoo, fun! Especially when you think you're really good at typing and find out otherwise. =D
It's a great game and the high scores are awesome. But I find it very irritating that when a bomb explodes, some letters that I was just about to hit suddenly disappear and I get minus points.
It's amazing how nevous you get when playing this game! I never knew a typing game could be so much fun! I was litteraly shivering when i finished. Amazing!
What does the star do?
The names of the users refer to other sites you've been on, even members of your own family. Have received threatening and racist comments. But a great game and professional tool. So, shame really.
