Blink and you'll miss this short little puzzle platform game from JJ Wallace, but Lost Fluid, where you play a spaceship-wrecked blob of blue goop, is still worth checking out. Use the [arrow] or [WASD] keys to move, and hop into pipes to automatically move to the next connecting pipe. There are only a few puzzles to solve by paying attention to your surroundings, and if you fall off into nothingness the game will just boot you back to the last ground you stood (slimed?) on. But despite only having a handful of screens and an ending that feels a little... abrupt... Lost Fluid features some beautiful atmosphere, interesting ideas, and is something we'd love to see fleshed out more into a bigger adventure in the future. In the meantime, settle back for a coffee break (or, uh, half of one) and give it a peek.
Cool little game. Really easy and yeah, way too short!
I like that it's possible to travel back and forth between levels. At first it looked as if the game would be a simple platformer, so the exploration aspect was a wonderful surprise. My only complaint is that the game is too short.
"and is something we'd love to see fleshed out more into a bigger adventure in the future."
Yes please!
I also hope to see more in the future! I haven't completed it yet but I love what I have seen!
Quite beautiful just as it is.
There are games which are novels, games which are novellas, games which are short stories and games which are, as this one is, essentially flash fiction.
It's none the worse for that.
I honestly don't think this would really lend too well to 'fleshing out'. It would be just for the sake of it, but it's hard to see how much that would really add to the (minimal) gameplay or to the (existing, excellent) story. If anything, the game as is could be maybe pared down a bit (but that's being really nitpicky).
Having said which, I'm really looking forward to seeing what else the author of this game comes up with.
Pared down? To what? That's like whittling a matchstick. I'm with everyone else and would love to see this fleshed out. Everything about this game is perfect except that it's too short and I think that's the best compliment a game could receive. Leave 'em wanting more.
Should be called Terraform.
A beautiful little game! I can't help feeling we're missing something though- why are there large blank "signposts" on most screens? What is the room down the pipe on the far right for? Why is there a furnace in one of the rooms? It seems like there should be an Easter Egg connecting all these things! I would love to see a longer version of this game, it's wonderful.
I like it! Nicely done, short and sweet. Simple, yet appealingly complex.
(Paraphrased)
"A long time ago, a people from a distant world created a machine on a lonely planet. The machine had only one purpose: to create life. There was just one missing element..."
...Life itself.
