If you tried to visit us between Friday (09/21) evening (11PM Eastern) and Today (09/22) morning (8AM Eastern) then you probably received an alert from Chrome, Firefox or Safari indicating that Jayisgames.com was listed as an attack site with malware.
The problem was discovered on Friday evening and we shut the server down immediately so that we wouldn't infect anyone until we fixed and cleaned the site. If you visited us late Friday evening, before we brought the site down, you should do a virus scan of your computer to be sure you weren't infected. We worked all through the night Friday and brought the site back online about 11AM Saturday morning, confident that the problem had been resolved and the site clean and safe for our visitors. We requested a review from Google at that time to remove the warnings.
Unfortunately, Google took their time and didn't remove the warnings until just this morning, so the warnings were up on the site for a much longer time than necessary.
If another attack happens to us I can promise you that we will act immediately to take the site down until we can address the situation, like we did this time, to protect you, our visitors. There just isn't anything more important to us, and we want to assure you that we work very hard to protect that relationship as well as maintain a safe browsing experience for everyone, but there's really no way to ensure something like this will never happen. All we can do is try our very best, and to resolve any situation that arises as quickly and efficiently as we can.
Thank you for your continued support and for your visits, your comments, and your enthusiasm for what we love to do here at Jayisgames.
Happy to have you back up and running in one piece.
Thanks for the prompt action and the communication on FB and Twitter. The fact that you take time out to keep folks informed whilst you must have been tearing your hair out is much appreciated .. there are many who could learn from your open and honest approach.
Long live JIG :)
Thanks jay.
This is the second time this year I've had a browser warning when trying to visit jayisgames. Both times you've fixed the problem, but it is a little alarming.
Do you think you're a target or is it just bad luck?
Unfortunately, there are a lot of hackers out there trying to do bad things to good people, and most of them will never be brought to justice. I don't believe we are any more a target than any other site, as I believe all sites are constantly being sniffed for vulnerabilities and attacks attempted on them.
I can say that the JIG server is more secure than it's ever been due to the attacks we have experienced and a new attack is even less likely to happen. That's not to say one won't ever happen again, but I do feel we're more prepared than we've ever been before.
We love you jay *does the whole screaming fan routine*
We love you dont leave us... or ... we'll form a mob and chase you down all creepy stalker like and tie you up so you can keep giving us our daily dose of games.
We love you that much *giggles* sorry... I had to.
Condolences on having to deal with this in the first place, Jay. Downside of being a high-profile site, I guess.
One thing that did amuse me, though--I use Firefox, and the link that tells you why the site was blocked listed, among other things, jayisgames.com being an 'intermediary' for casualgameplay.com ...which, is, as far as I can tell, just an alias for jayisgames.com in the first place?
Actually, no, that report was correct. We have 2 distinct servers, one for JIG, one for CG. We don't use the CG server much anymore, and that server was actually the source of the attack, not JIG. However, JIG was loading content from CG, which we have now ceased due to the attack this weekend. I am in the process of wiping clean the entire CG server, and I may actually wind up shuttering it completely as it's not really needed anymore.
Dear Jay and the JIG team,
I think it's safe to say that on behalf of the guests that visit this wonderful site, we thank you ever so much for your diligent work. Even in posting the situation on the main page, this shows much dedication and tactful "customer care" (as it were) which many other site fall short on.
Being a huge gamer, I used to visit several sites to get my fix; as time has progressed however, that number has dwindled significantly and I realize that I only have time for one game site. I have happily chosen "Jay is Games."
Even in having thousands of games, this site is still easy to navigate and 100% user friendly with all of the tags, tabs and categories. You're the only site that stays on top of posts, reviews, and walkthroughs. You are truly one of a kind and I for one don't see myself leaving this site any time soon.
Great job you guys!

Thank you for that sweet comment!
Oh, good thing you this site is still okay.
I might add that I like this site because it seems to be the only game site I know to show ratings :D
Glad to hear the site's back up and safe again!
Thank you for your honesty and the prompt communication, Jay. It sucks that you were attacked again, but we do appreciate how hard and long you worked! Keep on keepin' on, guys!
Jay, I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say how deeply I appreciate your concern. This is but one of the ways in which this site rocks the Casbah. Thank you from the bottom of this casual gamer's heart.
Thank you for all the support. We really appreciate it! :)
Man, I have the worst luck with this stuff. The last time the site got attacked, I managed to get my computer infected, and now this time too!
FYI, I was infected with the FBI moneypak ransomware virus, where you are unable to interact with anything other than a page that takes the full screen, informing you that the FBI has locked your computer. If you have a webcam, it activates, showing your image on the screen. You are informed that you must pay a fine (somewhere in the vicinity of $200 for me) before your computer will be unlocked. You can pay the fine using something called "moneypak", which is available at Walmart and some other stores. Never heard of it.
Booting into Safe Mode w/Networking and running Malwarebytes and TDSSKiller seems to have done the trick.
Be prepared to wait. I've paid 3 times already, and they still haven't removed the block. I'll try again and report back.
Wait ...what? You've got to be joking.
