Piko Piko is a game about girls with hammers. That's seriously what this is about. You're a little red haired girl, with a humongous hammer and it's your job to.. to.. I haven't really figured that out yet. The game is in DEMO state, and while the audio is amazing, the controls are doing what they're supposed to do, and the visuals are looking very good already (tho, that one boss wielding a red trident isn't really done yet) there is no clue to what the plot is about in the amount of time I've played the game. My school got exploded, Nyankamoto (apparently a friend) has a tiny crush on me and I've seen my teacher getting kidnapped by robots. Are they evil robots? I can't tell.
The controls are fairly easy, you use the left and right cursor keys to navigate, use the S key to jump and the D key to swing your hammer. Now if you jump and press D at the same time, you sit on top of your hammer and smack down pretty hard. Insert key puzzle element no. 1. You need to use this move a lot of times to progress, but jumping on buttons that will open doors. A little point of critique, I also had to use this move a lot of times to get to a higher area, which seemed like the regular way to go, but a normal jump will not get you there. The smash jump will make you jump up a tiny bit higher.
In all, Piko Piko looks like it has potential. I myself am not into the whole "anime, cat, giggly girl" type of thing, but swinging big hammers around is something I DO enjoy. It needs work on the storytelling though, I really have no idea what is going on or what I am supposed to be doing, besides following the obvious pathway, but for a DEMO it's a good little time waster.
