Pixel Rooms is a room escape game born from the combined talents of Urara-Works and Skipmore. You might recognize those names from the utterly amazing mobile RPG Fairune released not too long ago. Pixel Rooms goes several steps beyond the usual mobile escape setup, treating you to puzzles and stages that bend the rules in creative new ways. It's more than just doors that need unlocking, it's like a series of mini-puzzles from Hapland or Grow!
Pixel Rooms stars Mr. Pixel, a mysterious pixel person whose sole purpose is to head towards open doors. Your job is to make sure he can actually reach those doors. Sometimes it's a simple matter of unlocking the exit. Sometimes it's a little dark and Mr. Pixel needs a light. Maybe there's a small lake to cross, or the door is high atop some boxes, or a slot machine stands in the way. By tapping, dragging and otherwise manipulating each scene, you can make it so Mr. Pixel can reach the goal.
Pixel Rooms is a simple take on the escape game genre, but it's done with a charming style with puzzles that are much less stuffy than most games on the market (we're looking at you, almost every game with "100" in the name). The only downsides to Pixel Rooms are side effects of it being free: there are ads, it's a bit short, and there are social features placed prominently on the screen. No biggie, really. It's a very small prices to pay for a few dozen creative levels of puzzle solving and room escaping. And once you're done, it's speedrun time!
NOTE: This game was played and reviewed on the iPad 3. Game was available in the North American market at the time of publication, but may not be available in other territories. Please see individual app market pages for purchasing info.

Pixel Rooms Walkthrough
Tap the door to open it, and Mr. Pixel will head through it.
Tap the couch to lift the cushion; tap again to lift the couch. Take the key, tap it in the lower square, and tap the safe on the right to unlock it. Take the other key and use it the same way to unlock the door.
The leftmost column of boxes is movable. Slide it to move it. Slide each box so they form a staircase from lower left to upper right, then position them so Mr. Pixel can climb them to the door. Don't forget to open the door.
Turn on the light switch with a tap, then slide the light to the left to reveal the door. Open it with a tap.
Slide the rightmost ladder to the left, then open the door.
Hold your finger on the duct the water is coming from until it's gone completely. Don't forget to open the door (abbreviated hereafter as DFTOTD).
Tilt your iDevice to make Mr. Pixel "fall" around the spiral until he reaches the door. DFTOTD.
Tap the yellow squares to rotate them. Position the darkened triangles all together in the center to assemble a fast-forward button, then hold that button until Mr. Pixel leaves through the newly exposed door.
Slide the top of the ladder up, then slide the two lowest orphaned ladder segments into place. DFTOTD.
Some of the lines from the picture are draggable. Drag an L from the window, an inverted C from the chair, a C from the drawers, and a diagonal line from the rafter, and put them in the squares from left to right in that order to spell O-P-E-N. You can then open the door.
Slide the eight tiles into the two squares to form a left arrow and a right arrow. The left arrow MUST be on the left, and the right on the right. Once that's done, hold the left arrow until the crane stops, release and let it pick up Mr. Pixel, hold the right arrow until the crane stops again, and let it drop him at the door. DFTOTD.
Shake your iDevice up and down (don't tilt it, shake it; you should hear a noise as you do). Then, tap the bottle cap Mr. Pixel is standing on to send him flying. DFTOTD.
Tap the small numbers. Three of them should fall after you've tapped them about three times. Set the large numbers to equal the correspondingly colored small numbers that remain, and you'll be able to open the door.
That large thing by Mr. Pixel looks a little like Mr. Pixel himself, doesn't it? Pinch to zoom out until you can do so no more. Open the door that's revealed.
Tap the square boulder below the door until it's gone, then tilt up to drop Mr. Pixel within the door's reach. DFTOTD.
You're in space! Tilt to guide Mr. Pixel to the door. DFTOTD.
Slide the topmost ledge to stretch it to the left, then slide the leftmost ladder down so it reaches the ground. DFTOTD.
Tap the tree five times to get a door, then tap it five more times to get a key. Take the key and use it to unlock the door, then swipe sideways across the tree trunk to chop it.
Near the lower left and lower right are two halves of a pause button. Slide them both to the center, then press the button to pause the balls. Count the balls of each color and set the corresponding numbers, then open the door. I've had to tap the door a few times to get it to open.
Tap next to Mr. Pixel to move him and the door; you want them to meet right in the center. Just go the long way around and you'll be fine. DFTOTD.
Hold all four buttons simultaneously with four fingers, then use a fifth finger-- or maybe your nose-- to open the door.
Get three 7's on the slot machine to lower Mr. Pixel to the door's level. Keep trying; it's possible, and if you master the rhythm it's quite a bit easier. DFTOTD.
The moon's actually a spotlight. Slide it to the lower left to reveal the door, then open it.
Swipe in the direction Mr. Pixel is facing. A light should turn green with each swipe. If he looks right at you, swipe down. Once the door's there, open it.
Slide the game cartridge into the console (it'll plug in when you let go). Reverse-pinch to zoom in as far as you can, then tap the door to open it.
