Last month, the amusement park NAGOYALAND opened its doors in Japan, taking its name from the Nagoya cultures it reproduces. Whether or not the evil warlocks that dwell in a secret base in the park are part of that recreation is unclear. As Fairie Princess Satomi-- because we all know that Japanese fairy princesses double as secret agents-- it's your mission to sneak in, locate their secret base, and then, well, escape from NAGOYALAND. Perhaps this retro point-and-click puzzle adventure by Arata Takeya has a slightly absurd premise, but that's probably to be expected from a Japanese developer. Take a vacation to NAGOYALAND today!
Urara-Works and Skipmore are back with a brand new mobile puzzle game! Pixel Rooms 2 follows closely the style and set-up of the original Pixel Rooms escape game. Instead of stepping into doors, however, you're helping little pixel dudes step out of them! There are just over two dozen single-screen levels, each with a solution that may or may not require tapping, swiping and/or shaking your phone.
Pixel Rooms is a room escape game born from the combined talents of Urara-Works and Skipmore. You might recognize those names from the utterly amazing mobile RPG Fairune released not too long ago. Pixel Rooms goes several steps beyond the usual mobile escape setup, treating you to puzzles and stages that bend the rules in creative new ways. It's more than just doors that need unlocking, it's like a series of mini-puzzles from Hapland or GROW!
Fairune is an action-puzzle RPG adventure much like the world where it is set: a place where illusion is reality and three spirit icons have gone missing, unlocking an evil scourge that generates monsters all over the realms. It looks like something you've played before yet eliminates hack'n'slash style combat in favor of solving puzzles. Instead of fighting, just walk over monsters and make your way across a maze-like retro environment, gathering the items you need to open new pathways until your ultimate goal: a showdown with three powerful bosses that will either end in victory or crushing defeat.
Think you've got what it takes to be a traditional RPG hero? In this series of minigame-like puzzles aping the genre, it's your knowledge of typical RPG stereotypes, not your sword skill, that will see you through to victory. It's a bite-sized bit of retro charm to fit into your day that requires thinking outside the box.
