leagueofevil.gifJohnBA bunch of evil scientists have joined forces and are building a weapon of mass destruction. Fortunately for the world, you're one of the good guys, and you're going to stop them! In League of Evil, you play a tough little soldier dude who can run, punch, and wall jump with surprising agility. Work your way through 40 stages as you avoid touching anything pointy or dangerous and die more than once per second!

League of Evil is all about speed, precision, and attempting to marry the two. Each stage is filled with spikes, electric zappy things, enemies, and moving platforms, all arranged to give you one narrow path to get through alive. You can jump, double jump, and wall jump to stay out of trouble, and the game gives you a lot of control over where you move while in the air. Attacks are simple dashing punches (or are they kicks?!) that obliterate NPC enemies with ease. Their bullets, on the other hand, should be avoided. Bullets + fist = dead hero.

You're given a star ranking at the end of each level based on how long it took you to reach the end. There's no timer and no penalty for dying, but it's usually best just to head out from the beginning, start jumping, and see what happens. Most levels last between 15 and 30 seconds, depending on if you decide to seek out the hidden briefcase or not.

League of Evil does its visual and audio presentation retro style. From the chunky pixel visuals to the chip music soundtrack, it's a little slice of 8-bit heaven. The difficulty is more trial-and-error-based, another pseudo-throwback to the classic gaming era, and you'll replay levels numerous times before you figure out the right timing to squeeze past the traps. Not so much frustrating, but less thinking and more button hitting.

A quick little diversion that looks great, sounds awesome, and plays like Forrest Gump in a football game: just keep running and hope everything works out for the best!

32 levels down, fingers cramping....

OK, fun game, but two big complaints jump out right away:

1) Switching between keyboard (gameplay) and mouse (menus, including after you die) is really annoying.
2) X and C are not next to each other on every keyboard!

Ah, I see, "Z" selects items in the menu. Again, I refer you to the keyboard issue. I feel like I'm becoming a broken record on that issue, but it seems really prevalent lately. :(

Fun little total platform game.
My patience broke at level 29.
As for the "Z" key issue, I think they should have allowed "X" or "C" instead. It's strange.

ARGH!
I just need to vent about this game!
Why is it so hard!?
Those stupid security guards can wait and turn unlike any other sensible game!

Got to level 29 and got bored. (Just so you know, if you are trying to get 3 stars and the briefcase on every level, get the briefcase first, as your fast time will get cancelled out if you go slower again on the same level...)

28x3 stars + 28 briefcases was hard enough, but level 29's briefcase is taking the biscuit. (I can get to it, but getting down again isn't insanely easy... and then getting to the exit is beyond insane.)

Went from intrigued to irritated (jumping maneuvers) real fast.

Just finished it with 3 stars on every level and every briefcase. Surprisingly easy up until 28 or 29, then it started getting difficult. I am a little disappointed that I don't get anything added to the game after getting all the achievements though...

The graphics are nice and the controls are tight, but it becomes needlessly repetitive after a while.

The briefcases were just a matter of navigating some extra corridor in addition to the main level, which results in irritation rather than depth. I'd have preferred a target time to hit, or some kind of secret puzzle to solve to find them to create some variety.

The levels didn't seem very varied. I liked after level 10 when the backdrop shifted, but since the other enemies and obstacles stayed the same it wasn't a big deal. I'd have liked to see unique enemy designs for each of the four zones and different musical themes.

Some joking one-liners at the start and end of each level would have gone a long way towards motivating me to beat each stage just to see the next joke. Better yet would have been to decorate the stages to feel more like I'm progressing - maybe make it look like I'm climbing into a building from the outside, then in another level I'm leaping over a pit of alligators in a moat. That would reduce the repetitive nature of the game.

Overall a solid game of average quality. It's good enough to provide a short burst of entertainment but not great enough to merit collecting all the achievements or playing a second time for fun.

Did anyone else notice that by standing next to a wall and repeatedly tapping "x", you can wall jump up one wall...makes the game slightly easier in a lot of levels.

does the page reload every once in a while for anyone else?
the game doesn't restart or anything, but it pauses for a second and then i fall on spikes. frustrating.

Has anyone noticed that if you replay a level and earn fewer stars, it keeps your most recent score?
Whereas if you earn a briefcase (stars don't matter) and THEN replay, you keep the briefcase marker but the stars are reset.

I gave up on level 4 XD
