Words & Cards "Words & Cards," you ask, "could it be a game about dinosaurs and Swiss watches?" Alas, no. In Words & Cards, you've got to make a word from a pool of letters you share with your opponent. Each consonant in the word you play turns into a playing card, with which you can score extra points by making poker hands. It sounds simple (and it is), but there's more strategy involved than you might think.

But that's how things work in Quiz RPG: World of Mystic Wiz, a trivia game for Android that blends elements of roleplaying and card games. Control a group of five spirits in your various quests as an apprentice wizard, and turn your trivia answers into bolts of lightning or jets of water or fireballs. And there's a talking cat who mews if you poke her, so that alone makes it worth a look.

Fairway Solitaire Golf and cards rarely seem like a fitting pair, but when you see them combined as elegantly as in Fairway Solitaire, you'll start to wonder if other crazy sorts of combinations might work. Like peanuts and pickles! A new mobile port of the previously reviewed PC and Mac release, Fairway Solitaire builds on the game of solitaire using golf terms and rules in a very casual sort of way. Add to that an epic story about gopher revenge, mini-games, an in-game store, and hundreds of courses to play, and you've got a card game that'll keep you busy until the gophers come home. That's a saying, right?

Deck of Words Can't decide if you should play a game of solitaire or a word game? How about "both" so you can stop arguing with yourself and just play? Fairway Few things are as exciting as a well-made casual solitaire game. Well, few things that aren't cake, hugs from puppies, or driving up to a traffic light just as it turns green and starts dispensing candy. In the absence of that miracle, though, the latest game from Big Fish Games Studios will certainly fill that fun-shaped void in your life. Fairway is an enormously well-polished game of golf-themed tri-peaks solitaire. Take cards from the pile, pair them with the face-up card below, uncover a few neat power-ups, and try to clear the screen without breaking par!

The Night Circus The Night Circus is a text-based advergame that requires Facebook or Twitter made by Failbetter Games in collaboration with the author of the book by the same title. Necronomicon: Book of Dead Names While it's fairly similar to the original, particularly because a lot of the art assets are recycled, Book of Dead Names helps update the Necronomicon formula and add a lot of much-needed depth. The difficulty might turn some players off, especially since as a card game it's possible to lose matches by simply not getting the cards you need, but it's still worth a look for card game and Lovecraft fans alike. Just try not to unleash any dark powers. It's a pain to clean up after that kind of thing.

Aetheron Combining classic card battling with RPG elements, Ninjakiwi's ambitious fantasy game provides a surprisingly engrossing experience. When you find yourself conscripted into service for a nearby town, you're less than thrilled at this seemingly dull turn of events. But of course destiny has a funny way of working things out. Complex and involving, with the promise of future multiplayer, Aetheron is a meaty experience for fans of the genre, and definitely something to keep your eye on.

The Day Tia's birthday means a time for her to play with the other children in her struggling, isolated village... but it may also mark the end of her childhood. Of course, that all depends on you, and whether you do as you're told. Gregory Weir's experimental narrative might be too experimental to be a hit with everyone, but it's a clever game that deserves a play for the few minutes it'll take you.

Elements: The Card Game Well balanced and beautifully illustrated, Elements is an addictive collectible card game with an impressive community to test your virtual deck against. It sparks the imagination and puts your vision and strategic mettle to the test. It can suck you in for hours at a time, but with each match lasting hardly more than a few minutes on average, Elements can be as casual an experience as you like.

Tower Blaster Similar to the classic game Rack-O, Tower Blaster puts you in a race against the Viking hordes in a randomly-assorted tower of numbered blocks to must arrange them in order from lowest at the top to highest at the bottom. Finish your tower before your opponent finishes theirs, else the mighty Viking Axe destroys your own tower and the game is over.

Speed Cluster SpeedCluster, by Game-Pure, is an arcade Flash game that is remarkably easy to play: just drag cards from along the bottom row onto one of the four blue markers at the base of each column where random cards will fall. The cards you drag must be either one higher or one lower in value than the one that is falling. It's as simple as that.

GameDesign Hanafuda For those who prefer a single-player experience, or at least one to practice with to hone one's skills in preparation for a heads-up match against another human opponent, and if a little Japanese text won't scare you off, then give Taro Ito's GameDesign Flash implementation of Hanafuda a try.

TripleJack TripleJack Poker is similar to other browser-based, free-money poker sites with a few extras that set it apart from the rest. Use your in-game chip stash to buy virtual gifts, even throw pies at that player that called your all-in with nothing and then sucked out on the river. It is, quite simply, one of the finest free-money online poker sites I have ever seen.

Sanctum With almost 10 years in the making, Sanctum from Nioga is a very unique game. The best way to describe it would be to say it's like combining chess with Magic the Gathering in a miniature game board setting. It could be one of those classic board games we played as a child, except this game is all digital and played only online.

Solitaire Craving Solitaire Craving's interface is clean, smooth and easy to use, but the real draw is the emphasis Lyttle put on community features. Each game has a comments section, and a site-wide ranking system keeps track of each user's number of moves made and total time spent playing.

Inuyasha: Demon Tournament Based on the anime of the same name, Inuyasha: Demon Tournament is a one on one tactical fighter, somewhat similar to a stripped down Tactics Arena Online or Shining Force mixed with Street Fighter. Though the combat tends to degenerate into random guesswork, it is fast and fun guesswork, with graphics and animation that rival commercial products.
